1. Fuminori Abe defeated Lil’ Kraken with a School Boy (10:11).
2. 3 Way Tag Match: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga defeated Ryuichi Sekine & Gouma Ryu and Takato Nakano & Yasu Urano when Oosugi pinned Ryu after a Thrust Kick from Senga (9:28).
3. Takumi Tsukamoto, SAGAT & Judomaster Vs FUMA, KUBITO & Daichi Kazato ended in a Draw when Tsukamoto and Kazato pinned each other (12:17).
4. Kazusada Higuchi defeated Isami Kosaka with the Doctor Bomb (13:11).
5. Union MAX Title: Minoru Fujita (c) defeated Masato Kamino with a Modified Inside Cradle (18:04).
*V2 for Minoru Fujita.

Minoru Fujita praised Masato Kamino for being a strong opponent and let him give have time on the microphone after the match. Kamino was disappointed not to win today but reminded Fujita they will face each other again in another title bout this weekend. This time it will be in TTT in a match for the TTT Indie Unified 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Fujita is one of the title holders over there. Then Lil’ Kraken entered the ring and asked Fujita for a Union MAX Title shot. He figured since both Takato Nakano and now Masato Kamino lost to Fujita, he is next in line from their generation to challenge the champion. Fujita didn’t like the idea until he remembered that Kraken beat The Great Sasuke at Korakuen Hall last December. That doesn’t sit right with Fujita because he has never beaten Sasuke one on one. The title match will happen on 30th April.

Isami Kodaka tried targeting Kazusada Higuchi’s right arm during their match. The plan worked for a while but Higuchi was able to tough it out and beat Kodaka clean in a preview of next month’s IRON FIST Tag Team Titles match.

Match #2 ended with everybody piling on top of Gouma Ryu for the pin. Speed Of Sounds were ruled the winners because they were directly on top of him.

Over the weekend Super Sasadango Machine noticed something. He is on the poster for this show but hasn’t been booked for a match yet. He thought he was going to be on the show anyway because DDT is celebrating its 27th anniversary so he kept his busy schedule free for that day. Akito used his vice president duties to look into it and apologized when he found out that DDT did indeed forget to book Sasadango for the show. To make up for it one more match has been added to the 5 hour show and Akito himself will be Sasadango’s opponent. Now Keisuke Ishii is also getting booked in order to take Akito’s original spot in Match #3. Sasadango has since showed his appreciation to Akito for owning up o the mistake and apologized for giving him extra work to do. So for the first time ever we’re getting a wrestling match where the buildup involves both wrestlers constantly apologizing to each other.

At the last BASARA show the top two members of Sento Minzoku challenged Harimao for the IRON FIST Tag Team Titles. The match cannot happen just yet because Minoru Fujita is already scheduled to defend the Union MAX Title and he does not want to take part in another championship bout on the same show. So instead Isami Kodaka will face one-half of the champions Kazusada Higuchi in a singles match to give fans a preview of the full course.

The Up Up Girls (Pro Wrestling) are holding their own event that is a mixture of both wrestling matches and a concert. All currently active members will be involved. The management group behind the unit has already said Hikari Noa will not be at the show. She is gradually being mentioned or shown on promotional material again so to me that is a small but positive sign towards her eventually coming back. I think her future will be more clear next month after “GRAND PRINCESS ’24” and the American shows are out of the way. We’re more likely to see her in public again before Kate Middleton that’s for sure.

This is the complete TJPW card you’re going to get in Philadelphia. Hmmm… I’m not that hot on it to be honest. If last year’s USA show was comparable to a Korakuen Hall show this one is more Ryogoku KFC Hall. I guess they’re a bit more conservative this time around because they have the second show with GCW the day after.

Speaking of GCW, Maki Itoh won the GCW Extreme Title in a 6 Way Scramble match on Saturday night! I’ll write more about it in the next DDT Around The World article at the end of the month.

1. SAGAT defeated Munetatsu Nakamura with the Goregrind (8:27).
2. KUBITO & Yasu Urano defeated Gouma Ryu & Banana Senga when KUBITO submitted Ryu with a Crossface Lock (7:24).
3. Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Daichi Kazato with the Tsuki no Ishi (12:42).
4. Masato Kamino & Chicharito Shoki defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Judomaster when Kamino pinned Judomaster with the Lariat (14:54).
5. Isami Kodaka, Ryuichi Sekine & Minoru Fujita defeated FUMA, Ryota Nakatsu & Fuminori Abe when Kodaka pinned Nakatsu with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster (18:52).

2024 could be the year Sento Minzoku is back on top of the BASARA mountain. Minoru Fujita is currently the Union MAX Champion and the result of today’s main event could lead to the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles coming back to him too. Isami Kodaka pinned Ryota Nakatsu to win the match and told Fujita he wants the two of them to challenge Harimao for the titles. Nakatsu complained that Fujita shouldn’t have to be Kodaka’s partner and Ryuichi Sekine should do it instead. However he eventually agreed to put the belts on the line against Fujita & Kodaka. Kazusada Higuchi’s next BASARA appearance is on 19th March but Fujita is already defending the Union MAX Title on 19th March on that show. He refuses to wrestle twice, especially if it is in two championship matches back to back. They all think Higuchi will be available to wrestle in BASARA again on 20th April so they will do the title match there unless they got Higuchi’s schedule wrong.

Sekine announced he will be back to wrestling on a regular schedule with BASARA starting from next month. He made it a goal to work his way into becoming a champion again.

Yesterday BASARA reported that Takato Nakano had a fever but tested negative for covid. They decided to pull him from the show as a precaution and brought in Chicharito Shoki to replace him. If that wasn’t enough, it was announced that the love sickness Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi is suffering from has gotten worse so he couldn’t wrestle today either. The masked Judomaster was suspiciously in the venue again to take his place for the second show in a row. He seemed to have a better understanding of pro wrestling this time but still lost to Masato Kamino.

Today is the first time Gouma Ryu wrestled in Takashimadaira Kumin Center for a BASARA show. He thought he was taking part in another Pro Wrestling Trial but Banana Senga forgot to bring his outfit. They held a court session arguing whether or not injuring your opponent in a pro wrestling match should be a crime. They told KUBITO and Yasu Urano to wrestle each other in order to provide evidence. None of their actions injured either of them so the referee/judge declared them Not Guilty. Ryu did not accept the result and convinced Senga to fight the other two. KUBITO & Urano quickly beat them.

Yeah, beats me what’s going on or what she will do there. Mizuki wants to team with her again and is scared over the idea it won’t happen. Sakazaki helped train Juria Nagano so she can say goodbye to her there. What if Sakazaki wants to get in the ring with Masha Slamovich again? Or maybe she wants to fight Andreza Giant Panda while she still has the chance.

The debuts of Uta and Kirra are coming up this Sunday. We’ll likely get their official ring names in the next few days. Uta’s debut puts her in the ring with the rest of the active Up Up Girls. Kirra’s first match also involved Chika Nanase who only just debuted over the weekend.

The 27th Anniversary of DDT’s first show contains 12 matches so they will not overrun the 5 hour timeslot in Korakuen Hall this time. The DDT Universal Title is up for grabs as well as who will get to defend that championship in American this April. MAO believes he is now the greatest DDT Universal Champion ever and wanted his next defence to be at the Philadelphia show. However Takeshi Masada really wants to be in the same position and wanted to challenge MAO before then so he can take that spot instead. MAO only wants to be challenge by wrestlers he thinks can be trusted with the Universal Title. He doesn’t believe Masada is at that level yet but the audience support for the challenger convinced MAO to give him the chance.

The newest unit in DDT could quickly become champions before we know it. Zuncha♪Muscle Survivor will now face D.O.A for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles after Naruki Doi pinned Makoto Oishi yesterday. Just like with D.O.A’s previous defences, high stakes must be on the line for both teams. Doi decided that if his team loses then they will split up. That sounds like a serious stipulation until you find out Doi does not want to be part of Kazuki Hirata’s new unit so he isn’t going to lose any sleep if they lose and never have to team up again.

Shuji Ishikawa returns to DDT for the first time since last July. He is coming off of a bad split with All Japan and now has new responsibilities as the GM of Evolution Joshi. So if this is his only DDT appearance for the year I’ll take it.

The Intern Wrestler Tsubasa Suzuki gets Soma Takao for his first match.

A big surprise was dropped in DDT yesterday when Chris Brookes invited his friend Zack Sabre Jr. to come over for a match. Sabre has a few DDT tapes in his collection back home so the place was always on his bucket list. Sadly his hopes of fighting Yoshihiko or the Ladder aren’t possible at the moment so he identified DDT’s two strongest singles champions as wrestlers he would like to fight. Yuki Ueno & MAO are just as excited to do the match as Sabre & Brookes are.

There is also going to be a rematch from a DDT bout that took place at Tokyo Dome City Hall in December 2022. On that night Chihiro Hashimoto beat Shinya Aoki clean and Aoki wants to avenge that loss to her. He expects the rematch to be as dramatic as sumo wrestler Shinichi Suzukawa’s return from injury was!

It’s full steam ahead as all the pieces for Ganbare☆Pro preparations to move into independent life continue falling into place. The championship scene currently belongs to Shuichiro Katsumura. He remains as GanPro’s double champion after he successfully defended the Spirit Of Ganbare Title against his tag team partner Takuya Wada. He told the fans afterwards he’s been friends with Wada for almost 30 years but haven’t gotten to fight him much. Today’s result proves that nobody is stronger than himself but if there’s anybody stronger than Wada then they should step forward. Soma Takao entered the ring but it wasn’t to challenge for the SOG Title. He invited Shota to enter beside him because ROMANCE DAWN want to fight GROUND ABSOLUTE for the Spirit Of Ganbare Tag Team Titles! Shota will be leaving GanPro to go freelance soon and Takao doesn’t know how often ROMANCE DAWN will get to team up here again in the future. In fact that may mean ROMANCE DAWN will soon become GanPro’s enemy. If they win the SOG Tag Titles then that means they can bring the belts wherever Shota decides to go next. GROUND ABSOLUTE accepted the challenge for 20th March.

A fully recovered Yuna Manase returned to the ring for her first match in around 13 months. She arrived in a new costume to team with Yumehito Imanari against Sayaka Unagi & Minoru Fujita. The opposing team carried their collection of championship belts with them to the ring. Unagi approached Manase to hug her but it was a trap and she bit her breast instead. That wasn’t the first time she did that. Manase fought back with Imanari at her side. She gave Fujita a Power Bomb and also kicked out of the SAYONARA Tombstone. Manase was at her limit throwing Elbow Strikes at Fujita but he wasn’t effected by them. Fujita then used the Modified Samson Clutch to roll her up for the three count. He congratulated Manase for her successful return and called her the symbol of GanPro. He then tried to pin Unagi for the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title as they were leaving the ring but she kicked out and chased him out of the room. Two title changes back and forth did happen between them backstage after the show. Manase said she was happy how her return match went but she does not want the story to end with her losing. She asked Imanari to help her so they can beat Fujita & Unagi together.

A Camel Clutch version of the Katahajime ended Yoshiko Hasegawa’s hopes of winning the EVE International Title. After the match Yuu thanked Hasegawa for gathering together a big crowd on a big stage for them to wrestle at. Yuu hates it when she hears wrestlers talk about their growth but she thinks Hasegawa is passionate beyond words. Since Hasegawa is becoming a freelancer that means she is going to be Yuu’s rival from now on! Yuu will win more championships for Hasegawa to challenge her for and whenever Hasegawa becomes a champion, Yuu will come looking to be her first opponent.

The show began with Shinichiro Tominaga and HARUKAZE speaking to the fans. Tominaga became a full time member of GanPro this month but has been wrestling for the promotion since its beginning. He spent the last 11 years waiting for Ken Ohka to ask him to join the company. It wasn’t until GanPro started planning its split from CyberFight that he finally asked him! Tominaga said he thought about it for only 2 minutes before he accepted the offer. His moral of the story is if you have something to say to somebody important to you, let them know right away. HARUKAZE talked about Yokohama being her hometown and how her parents’ house is only a 10 minute drive away from the venue.

Takato Nakano had his own cheering section led by Kaori Yoneyama, Cherry, Matsuzawa-san and other people related to the YMZ wrestling promotion during the main event. He was able to kick out of the Samson Clutch but Minoru Fujita eventually pinned him with the Modified Tombstone. After the match Masato Kamino challenged Fujita to a title match. Fujita asked if Kamino can drum up the same level of support as Takano did? Are Yoneyama, Cherry or Matsuzawa-san going to come back and cheer him on too? Fujita has never gotten to lead BASARA until now so he wants to fill up Shin-Kiba 1st RING with people no matter if they support him or his challengers. He agreed to the match for next month.

There was a sudden announcement that Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi missed the show due to a bout of love sickness. His replacement was a masked fighter going by the name Judomaster. He was quickly pinned by Ryota Nakatsu and admitted to Takumi Tsukamoto afterward he does not understand the rules of pro wrestling. The two teams agreed to restart the match and this time Judomaster got the hang of things. He lost again though, this time to Isami Kodaka.

The opening match also had to restart a couple of times because Gouma Ryu kept getting pinned quickly. He kept pleading on the microphone to do rematches and got the fans to side with him.

The novelty of TAKA Michinoku being on the show has now gotten awkward. A few days ago he announced a K-DOJO tribute show scheduled for April after seemingly being inspired by the Arsion reunion that took place earlier this month. That by itself is a crazy idea due to TAKA’s role in why K-DOJO went away in the first place. He had a scandal in 2018 when it was discovered he was cheating on his wife along with allegations of other kinds of bad behavior. TAKA then left the company early in 2019, taking his students with him and establishing JTO a few months later. With him gone, K-DOJO rebranded/rebuilt itself into 2AW and the split was complete. The response to TAKA’s plans for the reunion got mixed reactions online. There was enough of a negative response to make him reconsider and put the concept on ice for the time being. If that wasn’t enough, retired wrestler Tank Nagai then started tweeting about his memories of working under TAKA’s management in K-DOJO. A lot of it was bad. So now we have to see if the bad vibes from this story follows over to TAKA’s appearance in DDT this Sunday.

The debut match for Kaisei Takechi on 25th February will be announced during this show.

Takato Nakano said if he is able to win the Union MAX Title from Minoru Fujita on 20th February then it will make up for Aijin Tag having to lose the IRON FIST Tag Team Titles last summer. He is part of a new generation ready to change BASARA and when he is champion he would like to win the Tag Titles from Harimao! Fujita admits 2024 is going to be an even bigger challenge for him to survive compared to last year. He would like his fanbase no matter how small they are to come to the show and bring their grandparents with them to cheer Fujita on.

After KUBITO & Yasu Urano won in the opening match they asked the fans what should they do next? The fans chanted for them to challenge for the IRON FIST Tag Titles. KUBITO liked the idea and agreed to do it.
