Even though Ryota Nakatsu defeated Masato Kamino, he called him a future Union MAX Champion after the main event. However when he tried asking him about how much he likes BASARA, Kamino instead said he is thinking about going to GLEAT more often. Then Isami Kodaka came out and said he is the only person left who can beat Nakatsu for the MAX Title. He challenged him to a title match on 21st June.

Takumi Tsukamoto revealed his motivation for defending the CCW Canadian Heavyweight Title. When he was in elementary school he once had a substitute teacher who was from Ottawa. Tsukamoto wants to hold onto the CCW Canadian Title until he reunites with this substitute teacher. His title defence today against Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi was also his most difficult challenge yet. Both of them fought wearing karate gear and Hiroshi was the most serious he’s been in years. Tsukamoto was able to counter a Triangle Choke into a Crab Hold to get the win.

The Dreams Surrounding The Championships, Unbreakable Rhio Coming To TJPW

So how about Konosuke Takeshita and Maki Itoh on AEW Dynamite last night? Not bad, eh? Takeshita faced Hangman Page in a non-title barnburner of a match while Itoh was the “Joker” entry in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament fighting against a previous ally Britt Baker. Both lost their matches unfortunately but their positions on the show was a great sign of the relationship between DDT/TJPW and AEW.

A press conference was held today featuring CDK, MAO and Asuka to promote both of their upcoming title matches. First up is the KO-D Tag Team Titles match involving all four wrestlers. Asuka thinks she and MAO have a deeper bond together than CDK does. She thinks their high flying skills will fuse together and she is looking forward to becoming the first female KO-D Tag Champion. MAO describes his team with Asuka is a challenging adventure and he wants to help her achieve her goal because as a former tag champion he has a special attachment for those belts.

Masahiro Takanashi appreciates the gesture because he once teamed with Emi Sakura for a KO-D Tag Title match. However he thinks the title are still better off belonging to CDK. Chris Brookes had just watched Takeshita on AEW so he is currently feeling emotional. This show might be the first DDT show AEW fans will watch so Brookes feels the pressure. However he is confident the other three wrestlers will show these fans how great DDT is.

The obscure CCW Canadian Heavyweight Title is being defended again. Takumi Tsukamoto was just about the better man against Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi in the Elimination tag match but now Hiroshi has a score to settle with him over it.

“The Unbreakable” Rhio makes her Tokyo Joshi Pro debut on this show against Yuki Aino. She will also be wrestling on the 4th June show. Rhio is from Lancashire, England and is coming over as part of the relationship between TJPW and Pro Wrestling: EVE. She is 25 years old, 163cm tall and weighs 70kg. The 25 year old has been wrestling for 7 years and also has a background in Karate and Taekwondo.

The press conference continued with MAO and Takanashi talking about the DDT Universal Title match. This will be Takanashi’s first singles championship match since the Union MAX Title defence in February 2020 when he got injured. Since coming back he wrestled the new generation of DDT wrestlers. He wants to win the Universal Title so he can defend it against those same wrestlers as well as the younger members of the BASARA roster. He also mentioned Kazusada Higuchi and Kota Umeda as potential opponents. There is also one more wrestler he would really want to defend the Universal Title against but he won’t say who it is.

MAO’s history of matches against Takanashi were mostly in NωA Vs Shuten-dōji 6-Man Tags. The fact that he and Takanashi are about to headline Korakuen Hall is like a tribute for wrestlers like KUDO and Makoto Oishi. MAO has his own dream opponent for a title defence. He definitely wants to defend the Universal Title against Mike Bailey!

It’s now five Union Max Title defences for Ryota Nakatsu, tying the amount from his first reign. He is proud of how passionate Daiki Shimomura fought but told him he should not be satisfied over it. Nakatsu is old and Shimomura are young but they both have a lot of energy so they will continue doing their best for BASARA! No new challenger came out but instead the president of GRACE GROUP asked him for three favours. First, he wants to host a Grace Project show on 5th June built around BASARA taking on a group of wrestlers representing the Grace Family. Nakatsu agreed to it.

The president brought out Kamui and Kenya Maeda. They said the entire Grace Family has already been chosen. They are Kamui, Katsumi Oribe, Kota Umeda, Tomoya Hirata, Daisuke Masaoka and Takashi Sasaki! Nakatsu accepted the challenge and talked with the president over who should be on BASARA’s team. They decided on Nakatsu, Shimomura, Takato Nakano, Masato Kamino, Isami Kodaka and maybe they will offer the last spot to SAGAT. Maeda then introduced himself as Tatsuhito Takaiwa’s number one disciple and kept repeating himself when Kodaka acted like he wasn’t paying attention. They agreed to a singles match against each other at a Grace Project show taking place in two days time. That was the president’s second request. The third and final request was allowing them to sell tickets to the show at the concession area after the show.

Before the 6-Man Tag Match began, Gouma warned the Asian Kung Fu Revolution that someone on their team was going to betray them. Daichi Kazato immediately said it wasn’t him over and over. However Gouma kept getting in the way of his own teammates until he got into a fight with Takumi Tsukamoto, causing a full scale brawl to start and the match to end in a Double DQ. FUMA then revealed Gouma was the traitor all along and he is the newest member of Asian Kung Fu Revolution! The match restarted and this time Gouma kept messing up and hitting his new teammates. They turned on him causing the other team to come to his aid. However this was another trick and Gouma hugged Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi as another sign of betrayal. Gouma then gave Tsukamoto the Jumping Neckbreaker Drop and Hiroshi pinned him with the Tani Otoshi. The two teams continued brawling after the match and all fought their way backstage.

2. Jacket Match: Fuminori Abe defeated Gouma by Knockout with the Nagabuchi K (24:02).
3. Daiki Shimomura & Minoru Fujita defeated Ryota Nakatsu & Akiyori Takizawa when Shimomura pinned Nakatsu with an Inverted Hurricanrana (17:35).
4. Shigehiro Irie defeated SAGAT with the Beast Bomber (17:10).
5. IRON FIST Tag Titles: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga (c) defeated Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino when Oosugi pinned Kamino with a School Boy (18:09).
*V4 for Speed Of Sounds.

It was a lucky result for Speed Of Sounds today. They barely defeated Aijin Tag thanks to a Thrust Kick from Banana Senga to Masato Kamino leading into a School Boy from Tsutomu Oosugi. Senga admitted afterwards that the match was even closer than the one last month and they probably wouldn’t win if they did another rematch. Oosugi cut him off but Takato Nakano’s eyes lit up and he begged for another rematch next month. SOS won’t do it so Nakano told them to hold onto the IRON FIST Tag Titles until Aijin Tag can earn another title shot.

Shigehiro Irie offered to shake SAGAT’s hand after their match but SAGAT refused. Instead he begged Irie for a rematch somewhere down the line. Irie nodded and left the ring.

A “perfect three count” happened when Daiki Shimomura pinned Ryota Nakatsu in their tag match. He pinned him with a 2 count before and today’s three count means Shimomura now has the confidence he needs to beat Nakatsu again when the Union MAX Title is on the line on 28th April.

The Jacket Match between Fuminori Abe and Gouma actually begun during the show opening announcements and continued while the opening tag match was going on. Both matches ended up getting mixed together at points. This was allowed to happen because the Jacket Match had No DQs, No Countouts and could only be won by Knockout. Abe won by knocking out Gouma with the Nagabuchi Kick. Asian Kung Fu Revolution then attacked the both of them because it turns out Abe and Gouma just ruined FUMA’s 12th Anniversary match! Takumi Tsukamoto & Yasu Urano came back out to rescue them, leading to a big brawl between everyone in the ring.

The youngest member of Sento Minzoku has fought for the Union MAX Title twice before. The first of which was even against Ryota Nakatsu during Nakatsu’s first reign. Daiki Shimomura beat Nakatsu the last time they fought each other but it was in a 2 Count Rules match. He is confident he can pin Nakatsu for a 3 Count and take the MAX Title from him.

1. Yusuke Kubo defeated Chicharito Shoki with a Gedo Clutch (9:10).
2. Takumi Tsukamoto & Yusuke Kubo defeated Gouma & Yasu Urano when Tsukamoto submitted Gouma with a Crab Hold (10:12).
3. FUMA defeated SAGAT with the Cross Armbreaker (14:30).
4. Isami Kodaka, Daiki Shimomura & Minoru Fujita defeated Tsutomu Oosugi, Banana Senga & Fuminori Abe when Shimomura pinned Abe with an Invertied Hurricanrana (14:19).
5. Union MAX Title: Ryota Nakatsu (c) defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi with the V Slider (18:21).
*V3 for Ryota Nakatsu.

The long delayed Union MAX Title match between Ryota Nakatsu and Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi finally took place. Nakatsu had a visual pin on Hiroshi with the V Slider but the referee Yuya Okada was knocked out earlier and couldn’t count it. Hiroshi did his best to fight back but Nakatsu hit another V Slider and this time Okada was there to count the pin. Hiroshi admitted he was overconfident but Nakatsu called him the best genius in BASARA.

Suddenly, FUMA ran in and gave Nakatsu a judo throw. He then revealed something he kept secret from everyone all this time. The leader of Asian Kung Fu Revolution is not a Chinese kung fu master! He is in fact Japanese and spent 6 years in a judo club during junior high and high school. Watching the title match made his heart go wild so he wants to challenge Nakatsu for the MAX Title. Nakatsu accepted the challenge but was in for a surprise. For you see, FUMA actually does know kung fu. He just lied to trick Nakatsu into giving him a title shot. FUMA promised he will use the 4,000 years of Chinese history found in his kung fu techniques to beat Nakatsu!

Yusuke Kubo kept yelling at Chicharito Shoki to go back to Chiba while they were fighting. Shoki refused because he wanted to wrestle in front of all the fans in Shin-Kiba 1st RING.

BASARA Back To Full Strength, Dieno And Takanashi Cleared To Return, Ganpro Mixed Hardcore Match, Mega Max Bump

CDK had to forfeit their league match to Pheromones which is a minor setback after winning their opening bout. They are still in the running for first place in Block B but as things stand right now that forfeit might come back to haunt them.

A dangerous request was put in HARUKAZE for Ganbare☆Pro’s return to Korakuen Hall. She demanded a Hardcore Match and threw the challenge out to both Shunma Katsumata and Akane Fujita! Those two already have tension between them over accusations of weapon plagiarism but they have to team together for this match. HARUKAZE found Mizuki Watase to be her partner and make the match an intergender tag.

There has been little follow up to the rumours of CyberFight wanting to sign Maya Yukihi to a contract. She has her story with Saki Akai in DDT going on until March so once that finishes up we may find out what she wants to do next. But before that, she will show up in Ganpro again for a tag match highlighting the Ganbare☆Joshi division.

Seeing Ken Ohka positioned this low on a major Ganpro card is weird. I welcome it because the rest of the group has stepped up over the last two years but it’s still weird.

DDT “MEGA MAX BUMP 2022 TOUR IN YOKOHAMA”, 01/05/2022

1. KO-D Openweight Title: Konosuke Takeshita (c) Vs X

The next KO-D Openweight Title defence will be held at DDT’s next big show after their 25th Anniversary celebration. Either Konosuke Takeshita or Tetsuya Endo will defend the title at the Yokohama Budokan against an opponent to be determined.

Also on the show will be the return of Hikaru Sato to DDT for the first time since 2019. Sato was a DDT mainstay from 2008 to 2014 and even held the KO-D Title one time. He makes some one-off appearances here and there but those times were for spin-off shows or special occasions.

TJPW x Prestige, Covid Updates

Yesterday Prestige Wrestling announced they have begun a working relationship with Tokyo Joshi Pro. They tweeted “Over the coming months & years we will bring many of their top stars to the United States!” Prestige has been around since 2017 but had not run any shows since 2019 because of the pandemic. 2022 is their re-launch and they have several shows booked in Oregon and California throughout springtime.

I don’t have much thought on this at the moment. The gap of time between Prestige’s last show to now is long enough that this may as well be a brand new indie so I have no idea what matches to think could happen. At least it’s a potential sign of international travel opening up for the TJPW roster and there might be more work in America available for them than just AEW. Fingers crossed it works out for both sides if it goes ahead.

There was concern last week when a member of staff from the venue tested positive for covid but nobody from TJPW was identified as a close contact. Everyone on the roster took PCR tests to be sure and all came back negative. So tomorrow’s show is going ahead as scheduled.

An update was given out from BASARA after a covid breakout happened to their roster last weekend. Ryota Nakatsu and Masato Kamino both got positive results. Nakatsu’s Union MAX Title match has been postponed until he has recovered. SAGAT is under quarantine until tomorrow for close contact reasons. Daiki Shimomura tested negative and has since returned to his normal activities. Yuya Okada had already tested positive last week and is at home getting treatment. BASARA will make decisions on upcoming shows based on medical advice once everyone is caught up on their current situations.
