7. KO-D Openweight Title: Shinya Aoki defeated Yuki Ueno (c) with the Modified Manjigatame (19:49). *Yuki Ueno fails in V8. Shinya Aoki becomes the 83rd KO-D Openweight Champion!
A packed house at Korakuen Hall got to see a newsworthy DDT show where the top championship of the company changed hands. Yuki Ueno’s nine month reign as KO-D Openweight Champion has come to an end by Shinya Aoki’s hands. The two have been linked together for a while now with Ueno looking up to the MMA fighter but perhaps that is ultimately what cost him to lose the title. Aoki surprised Ueno by using a Topé Suicida out of the ring. The Dropkicks to the face from Ueno couldn’t keep Aoki down and neither could the BME. When Ueno set up his WR finisher Aoki countered it into a Cobra Twist and transitioned the move into a Modified Manjigatame. The hold took Ueno down to the ground and he had no choice but to give up.
After the match Aoki praised Ueno for being strong and even told everyone how much he likes him. But losers have to leave the ring. Ueno bowed to everyone and left while Aoki applauded him. The new champion promised to protect what he has taken from Ueno. He also declared he wants to get revenge on Katsuhiko Nakajima for harming the championship’s reputation while defending the title against any of the Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere holders. He expected one of them to come out and challenge him but he got someone completely different instead. Tetsuya Endo!
Aoki wasn’t impressed and called Endo the weakest person who could challenge him. He talked about how much Endo has struggled ever since Nakajima knocked him out. Others like Ueno and MAO struggled too but Endo may as well be sleeping compared to them. Endo understands why Aoki would reject his challenge but that is why it must be Endo who should hold the belt and be the one to find revenge! Aoki argued that the reason he brought up Nakajima in the first place was because nobody in DDT did. Endo then asked Aoki if he ever lost a match that changed his life? Was there someone there to help him at the time? Aoki can be like that for Endo if he accepts the challenge. Aoki understood and a title match between them will take place in Nagoya on 8th September.
Finally Kota Ibushi came home to DDT. A lot has changed since he left but really, a lot has stayed the same too. He started the match off against Endo and their back and forth ended with a respectful handshake. Then the match turned over to more of DDT’s silly side as Danshoku Dieno kept kissing Yuki Iino over and over. Then when Akito put Yuya Koroku in a Figure 4 Leg Lock, Dieno performed the Danshoku Nightmare over Koroku. Ibushi also carried Koroku face first into Dieno’s Hell Gate at the corner. Endo got revenge by pushing Dieno and Ibushi into each other for the Lip Lock. He then hit Akito with a Handspring Kick followed by the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb. Akito kicked out of that but was put away with the Burning Star Press.
Endo welcomed Ibushi back to DDT after the match and had a question for him. Does Ibushi still love pro wrestling? Ibushi says he still loves it. Endo was happy to hear it and said he’ll be here in DDT waiting for Ibushi anytime. Dieno wanted to hear Ibushi give his honest opinion about how he feels right now. He then handed him a cue card to read (a bunch of people in DDT used to do this for Ibushi during his first main event push). Ibushi admitted there was a time when he didn’t know if he really loved wrestling. But coming back to a DDT ring today was something he enjoyed. He had a good time but his true love is only at 60 points out of 100 right now. He will keep wrestling in AEW and DDT to find the wrestling that he enjoys so his love will reach back up to 100. He then asked Makoto Oishi why he is quitting DDT soon? When Oishi told him it was to be with his family, Ibushi then asked why was his voice sounding so hoarse? Oishi reminded him it’s been like that for a long time. Backstage Ibushi told reporters he has the money and the fame. The only thing that’s missing for him is the fun. Akito told him he would like to see him appear in DDT regularly but Ibushi has only committed to one other date so far on 8th September.
Yukio Naya felt humiliated after today’s show thanks to Ryuichi “Fire” Kawakami. The latest part of their feud saw Kawakami pin Naya thanks to some foul play. HARASHIMA & Kazuma Sumi played their part as best as they could against DAMNATION T.A so Naya could beat Kawakami by himself with a Choke Slam. But MJ Paul pulled the referee away during the pin count. Naya then fought off Daisuke Sasaki & KANON until Kawakami hit him in the back with a Chair and pinned him with a Lariat. Kawakami said he will beat Naya again in their singles match on 8th September and then go on to challenge for the KO-D Title. Naya tried to fight him again but Sasaki hit him with the chair and Kawakami put him down with the Thunder Fire Bomb. Backstage Naya promised to get revenge and make Kawakami regret ever talking about the KO-D Title so casually.
The 15th Anniversary of Soma Takao’s debut match put him against someone who has been linked to him for most of his career. Keisuke Ishii was one of Takao’s tag partners in his debut and they want on to wrestle together as part of Team Drift. Ishii didn’t take it easy on his friend though. They fought up to the aisleway where Ishii gave Takao the Double Arm Driver onto the floor. Takao just about made it back to the ring to avoid being counted out. He fought back using a Double Stomp and the Perfect Driver for nearfalls. But Ishii caught him with a Frankensteiner and won the match with the Kneel Kick.
Two Right To Challenge Shield holders were on opposite teams for Match #3 so there was a little more risk of a Shield changing hands. Jun Akiyama kept grabbing To-y’s hair and did it even more after Shunma Katsumata complained about it. Keigo Nakamura went after Katsumata but things ended evenly between the two Shield holders. Tomomitsu Matsunaga got a nearfall on Katsumata with a Lariat. Katsumata turned things around with a Neckbreaker and Thrust Kick. He then scored the pin on Matsunaga with a German Suplex.
Today was another attempt by Ilusion to convince Chris Brookes he belongs in SCHADENFREUDE International. He even put Brookes in the Octopus Stretch during their match. Masahiro Takanashi wanted to thank Makoto Oishi for everything he’s done but it was just a trick to attack him. Oishi then tried singing a birthday song for Brookes but got attacked for that too. Takeshi Masada blocked Yuni’s Moonsault and Brookes tried to finish the match with the Praying Mantis Bomb but Yuni avoided it. The match came down to Ilusion and Takanashi trying to pin each other with different cradle moves. Takanashi got the better of Ilusion and got the three count with the Uwabami. Brookes wasn’t convinced by Ilusion’s performance.
The 3 Way Match to open the show featured voice actor and wrestling fan Tetsu Inada as a special guest commentator. However Antonio Honda pinned Kazuki Hirata seconds into the match before Toru Owashi could even do anything. Hisaya Imabayashi got mad like he always does and admitted he is getting tired of this. Inada took the microphone from him and demanded a restart because he wanted to see an exciting match. The match begun again but the wrestlers were showing low energy, causing Inada to get mad again. Hirata tried to do his dance but Inada asked him to do something new. Inada then joined in with Honda’s Gongitsune joke and together they attempted the Super Pheonix Fire Thunder Ultra Gongitsune attack! However they both missed. Owashi rolled up Honda with a School Boy and Hirata did the same to Inada. Both of them got a three count pin but since Inada was never a match participant, Owashi was the winner.
At the very end of the show MAO & Katsumata told the fans that Ueno losing the title is not going to stop The 37KAMIINA’s momentum. ShunMao intends to challenge for the KO-D Tag Team Titles and KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles again. Backstage they said the championship has been turning rotten ever since they had to vacate it due to Katsumata’s injury. No reign since then has been as good as theirs so they want to start a new era for the championship. MAO also described Ibushi’s return today as Golden Star Syndrome. The middle aged fans who came to the show are only chasing shadows because the glory days from Ibushi’s time are gone. DDT has been drowning in muddy waters ever since and it is thanks to the likes of ShunMao that things have started to pick up for the company. MAO is telling the fans not to lose their minds from Golden Star Syndrome and they should not be taking the current generation for granted.
The 37KAMIINA are also going to be part of Kaisei Takeshi’s return match on 29th September. Takeshi, Ueno & MAO will take on Brookes, Takanashi & Masada from SCHADENFREUDE International on 29th September!
As part of Takeshi Masada’s sponsorship with Bodix bodywear, several models known as the BB Girls were in attendance. Imabayashi got to take a group photo in the ring with them at the start of the show.
I’m travelling over to London this weekend to see a bunch of wrestling including the “EVE X TJPW” show. Posting of results and reports may be delayed but I hope to have most of them kept up to date within a day or two.

They pulled off a big one because Ishii’s opponent is Yuji Nagata from New Japan! It is a non-title match but Ishii knows he cannot lose while he is the Spirit Of Ganbare Champion. The match is happening at an outdoor show at Tokorozawa Park Town so fingers crossed there will not be any bad weather on the day.
Last weekend Yuna Manase had a rocky trip to America that ended in joy. She was scheduled for two Kitsune shows but could only make the second date due to travel issues. However it all worked out for her in the end because she won her 3 Way Match and became the new Kitsune World Champion! This should be her first match back in GanPro since winning the title.

The DDT version of Money In The Bank is back and ready to leave a trail of chaos in its wake this summer. This year there will be five Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere prizes up for grabs across three matches. Three contracts will go to the last three survivors of a Battle Royal featuring all of DDT’s mainstays. One will go to the winner of KANON Vs Yukio Naya. The final one will go to the winner of the 3 Way Match between Yuni, Ilusion and Kazuma Sumi. So by the time the five holders are determined it will be a group of wrestlers spreading all over the main event, midcard and rookie scenes.
There are also some slight changes to the rules for the prize this year. The contracts will become active from 10th August to 23rd November. They can be cashed in on any DDT related show held during that period for either a KO-D Openweight Title shot, a DDT Universal Title shot or a DDT Extreme Title shot. If a contract holder directly loses a match on a DDT show then the contract is given to whoever beats them. That is not a new rule but limiting it happening to just DDT related events is a new change.

That’s not all, Masha Slamovich and Marcus Mathers find themselves dropped deep into the DDT roster for an 8-Man Tag Match. There will be more DDT and Tokyo Joshi Pro involvement later on in GCW’s tour of Japan but I’ll write about it in tomorrow’s DDT Around The World article.

10. KO-D Openweight Title – Goodcom Assets Presents: Yuki Ueno (c) defeated MAO with the WR (29:44). *V6 for Yuki Ueno.
The story of MAO running away from The 37KAMIINA has come to an end. He wasn’t able to win the KO-D Openweight Title from Yuki Ueno after all but it still became a happy ending for everyone involved with the group. The two went all out against each other both inside and out of the ring. Over on the ramp Ueno gave MAO the Canadian Destroyer only for MAO to fire back with the same move. Ueno rolled off the ramp afterwards so MAO reached out and helped him back to the ring so the match wouldn’t end by countout. Ueno dodged the Phoenix Splash and used the Jul.2 for a nearfall. Then there was a trade off between Ueno’s Blackout Sleeper and MAO’s Just Face Lock. There was then a battle of Dropkicks with both wrestlers using the move on each other again and again. MAO used the Iai Kick but only got a two count. Instead Ueno got him in the WR to pin him and retain the championship.
After the match Ueno gave MAO a hug. He said that whenever he feels exhausted or loses his confidence, he will look at MAO to become an even better man. He is sure MAO feels the same way about him. Today he is glad he put his life on the line in Sumo Hall to fight MAO for DDT’s greatest championship. However MAO declined to shake Ueno’s hand and he left the ring. Ueno still praised him for being a free spirit and if he can beat somebody like him then he can beat anybody. Ueno then called Shinya Aoki to the ring and nominated him as his next challenger for the KO-D Title. Aoki said that ever since his fight against Kazushi Sakuraba in 2015, the next opponent and place he wanted to get the most is Yuki Ueno in DDT. Hisaya Imabayashi endorsed the challenge and announced the title match will take place on 25th August.
Ueno closed out the day by telling the fans he and DDT will continue to show everyone their dreams in the ring. Ueno left the ring and walked up the ramp where he was suddenly greeted by MAO again. MAO has decided he is no longer running away from home and has returned to The 37KAMIINA! Shunma Katsumata and To-y also appeared alongside them and the four went backstage together. In the hallway they found Konosuke Takeshita waiting for them. He simply gave them a thumbs up and walked away.
Yesterday at a public press conference Chris Brookes and El Desperado agreed that their match today should be held under No DQ Rules. The ring was already armed with a barbed wire board, a fork board and a bunch of plastic cases lying around waiting for the chaos to start. It began with Desperado bringing out two bouquets of flowers and handing one over to Brookes. They then both attacked each other with the bouquets. As the fighting got more intense Desperado busted open Brookes and in return Brookes took out a pair of scissors to cut up his opponent’s mask. Desperado then decided to pull it off and wrestle the rest of the match fully unmasked! A stapler gun was brought in and the two of them stapled each other back and forth all over their bodies. The envelope used for the “DESPE-INVITACIONAL” was also stapled onto them. SCHADENFREUDE International interfered in the match to gang up on Desperado but he fought them off by spraying them with a fire extinguisher. Brookes did the Praying Mantis Bomb but only got a two count while Desperado hit the Mad Splash on top of the barbed wire board for a nearfall. The end came when Desperado gave Brookes the Lip Lock and then dropped him on top of the barbed wire with the Pinche Loco. Brookes said he is frustrated over losing but also happy because he feels so alive after the match. Desperado said he got a great taste of DDT. He does not know if he will ever get another taste but he hopes to do it again some day. However not long after the show New Japan announced that Desperado is taking a leave of absence to recover from injuries. Desperado made it clear on social media that Brookes and the match they had are not at fault for it.
The last few months have seen Tetsuya Endo & Yuki Iino from BURNING feud with Go Shiozaki across DDT and NOAH. It was all building up to the KO-D Tag Team Titles defence here with Shiozaki teaming with Atsushi Kotoge. Since both Endo & Iino were focused on solely beating Shiozaki, Kotoge became frustrated at being ignored. It was on full show here because Kotoge busted himself open from Headbutting Endo too much! Shiozaki was taken out by Iino’s Lariat leaving Endo to fight Kotoge. Endo gave him a Headbutt of his own before doing the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb for a nearfall. He then finished him off with the Burning Star Press for the victory. Iino said he knew how good Shiozaki’s Chops are with those big arms of his but that doesn’t matter because BURNING won in the end. Endo said they won today because of the support from their fans. He is now considering how interesting it would be if BURNING and TEAM NOAH would team up in the future. Iino wants to fight more opponents from more companies to increase the value of the KO-D Tag Titles.
The busy summer Takeshita is taking part in has gone off to a hot start. Yesterday he beat Yota Tsuji in the opening day of the G1 Climax and today he defeated Masato Tanaka in a battle of the Elbow Smashes. It was a rematch of their KO-D Title bout from March 2020 and this time it was Takeshita who was left standing tall. After duelling Elbow Smashes, Takeshita’s ones were the more powerful. He ended up using the move to break down Tanaka and pin him for the three count. With this result Takeshita will now bring this power with him for the rest of the G1. He wants DDT fans to follow him in the tournament with pride and confidence. Tanaka admitted that Takeshita now has the best elbow strikes in the world but he will take that title back from him soon!
After Smile Squash went through all the effort of rescuing the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles from DAMNATION T.A, they’ve only gone and lost the belts back to them! The belts were on the line in a Survival 4 Way Match with other teams of three looking to win the titles for themselves. The 37KAMIINA & Aja Kong beat up Yasu Urano but were the first eliminated thanks to Akito dodging their attacks and pinning To-y with a Stepover Toe Hold. The champions Smile Squash were then surprisingly next to go. HARASHIMA had MJ Paul pinned with the Somato when KANON pulled the referee out of the ring mid-count. Daisuke Sasaki then attacked everyone with a chair then used the Freedom Call with KANON to pin Akito. Antonio Honda had his working boots on today because he successfully performed a Suicide Dive onto everyone out of the ring. He & Masahiro Takanashi also aided Takeshi Masada until he had to go it alone against Sasaki. Paul gave Masada a German Suplex so Sasaki could pin him for a nearfall. Sasaki then used La Mistica Crossface Lock to make Masada give up.
While DAMNATION T.A were celebrating in the ring, Ryuichi “Fire” Kawakami appeared at ringside and climbed in to meet them. He had already caused trouble backstage earlier in the day by attacking Yukio Naya after his match. But Kawakami got into the ring to give Sasaki a hug because he is now joining forces with DAMNATION T.A! Kawakami is ready to bring “FIRE DAMNATION” to DDT and Naya is his first target. Sasaki thinks “FIRE DAMNATION” sounds a little lame but he’s happy to have Kawakami on his side.
After spending so many decades fighting for DDT inside and out of the ring, Sanshiro Takagi is finally ready to take an indefinite break so he can focus on his management duties within CyberFight while taking better care of his health. But first he had one more battle with Danshoku Dieno to get through. During the week he pinned Dieno to take the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title away from him but Dieno won it not too long afterwards. Their match here was a Weapon Rumble. One by one weapons selected by the two wrestlers would be brought down to the ring. Takagi’s first weapon was product placement for Yanekabe Shokunin Goods. Dieno countered that with Yoshihiko along with Muscle Sakai as its handler. Takagi then brought out the Dramatic Dream bike. Dieno shocked Takagi by setting up a retirement ceremony for him. Saki Akai came down to the ring and presented him with gifts as well as a heartfelt speech. Takagi was so touched by the gesture he considered to go ahead with retirement but interrupted the ten bell salute so the match would continue. MIKAMI and Poison Sawada JULIE then ran down to be Takagi’s latest weapons. Dieno had allies of his own in the form of Tokyo Joshi Pro! The group of Miyu Yamashita, Maki Itoh, Mizuki and Yuki Kamifuku all attacked Takagi with some of their signature moves. But when TJPW GM Tetsuya Koda wanted to get his digs in, Hisaya Imabayashi got mad and attacked him! With them out of the way Takagi brought out his golden ace up his sleeve. He brought in a big star from AEW… Michael Nakazawa! He came out with his body painted completely gold. Who could Dieno have picked in response to this? It was the actual “Golden Star”, the return of Kota Ibushi to DDT! Ibushi gave Takagi the Kamigoye and Dieno waited for Takagi to get back up so he could finish him off with the Lip Lock and Gotch-Style Danshoku Driver.
After the match Dieno told Takagi that it does not matter if he takes a permanent break or is able to come back and wrestle again. DDT will be fine because Dieno will always be here. Takagi thanked Dieno because without him this dramatic situation would have never taken place today. He thought he would never meet Ibushi inside a DDT ring ever again! DDT went through some tough times after Ibushi left them in 2016 but Ibushi was able to rise higher and higher. Takagi believes if he can still get chances to be in the ring with Ibushi then he will never retire! His wish is to fight Ibushi in a singles match again. Ibushi has a request too. Can he come back to DDT some day? Takagi and Dieno both burst into tears and told him yes because he is family. Backstage Takagi told reporters he really wants Kenny Omega to get recover from his health problems too so he can call him again too.
As mentioned above, Naya’s day at Sumo Hall was ruined by a backstage attack by Kawakami after his match. Before that happened things were going great for Naya. He teamed with Jun Akiyama & Tomomitsu Matsunaga to beat the big name outsider trio of Minoru Suzuki, Shuji Ishikawa & Hikaru Sato. Naya also got the pinfall after he gave Sato the Wrist-Clutch Back Drop. The backstage attack happened during the post-match interview. Naya’s partners had already left the room and he was in the middle of talking about how it is up to him to carry DDT’s heavyweight division due to a number of injuries on the roster. That was when Kawakami burst out from behind the interview curtain and attacked Naya with a chair. He demanded to be booked for more DDT shows or else he will blow more people up!
With so much happening up and down the card, Kazuki Hirata and Super Sasadango Machine were determined to make their match stand out and become the most newsworthy. Sasadango used his PowerPoint presentation to tell everyone about how much social media coverage his recent tag match with Hirata, Takagi and Dieno got because so many shocking incidents took place during it. So he begged the audience to retweet everything that happened here and even made a competition where one lucky fan will win a sirloin steak, shrimp and red snow crab that he all bought with his own money! There were many “shocking incidents” that happened during the match. First there was a Thumb War that was won by Sasadango. Then there was a new finishing move that Hirata created called the Ryogoku Bomber except he couldn’t do it right because of a lack of practice. Sasadango also decided to give away Edameme he brought from Niigata because he wants everyone to know how delicious it is. After that, Hirata tried to turn heel and adopt Masahiro Chono’s theme song as his own. However he didn’t have the heart to attack Sasadango with a barbed wire bat along with some unknown masked lackeys so he went back to being a babyface. Sasadango then suggested they both turn heel together and form an nWo style faction. He pulled off his mask to reveal he had already shaved his head and painted on a beard plus forehead scars to look like Keiji Muto! He went to do the Shining Wizard but Hirata dodged it and pinned Sasadango with a School Boy. Backstage Hirata said he wants to continue doing things in pro wrestling that are unprecedented. Sasadango was angry over Hirata “betraying” him but admitted it felt so good to have a packed Sumo Hall chanting Muto’s name at him. He also credited Minoru Suzuki for giving him the haircut before the match.
During the same week where Hulk Hogan made a show of himself in America’s political landscape, his presence was also felt on a smaller scale in Japan thanks to Shinichiro Kawamatsu. The Japanese politician had the Axe Bomber passed down to him by Hogan earlier this year and today he used the move to win his match. Toru Owashi claimed this was the power of the impromptu tag team of himself, Kawamatsu and Hisamaru Tajima. It may not look like it but there is actually a deep bound between the three of them according to Owashi. He was Tajima’s opponent for Tajima’s debut match back in Toryumon. He has also spent a lot of his life living in Sumida Ward which is also the district Kawamatsu is elected in. The point of the match though is that they along with Makoto Oishi, Soma Takao & Munenori Sawa are all connected to Sanshiro Takagi.
The show kicked off with most of the D GENERATIONS class pitted against each other in a 6-Man Tag Match. It came down to Yuni almost beating Keigo Nakamura with a Moonsault. Nakamura recovered to hit Yuni with a German Suplex, John Woo Dropkick and then the Running Diving Headbutt to win the match for his team. Yuki Ishida & Kazuma Sumi both felt that they did their best to make the show start off on the right foot. Nakamura was also happy to win a match by himself in Sumo Hall for the first time. Yuya Koroku feels the need to start aiming higher since it is almost six months since he returned from injury. Ilusion thinks they should all be showing more energy because they are the future of DDT. Yuni said he wants to main event Sumo Hall one day so he will work hard to achieve that.
DDT returns to Sumo Hall on 28th December for “ULTIMATE PARTY 2024”. In previous years DDT’s last supershow on the calendar would take place in November. However the company wants to take a shot at holding a big arena show at the end of the year.
It was announced that Kaisei Takechi will be returning to DDT for his second pro wrestling match on 29th September. The star from THE RAMPAGE made his debut to much fanfare back in February. He sent a video message explaining his decision to compete in another match is because he believes he has the ability to do more in the ring the second time round. He would also like to continue participating more in wrestling after this match takes place.

4. KANON 5th Anniversary Match ~ Special Single Match: TAKA Michinoku defeated KANON with the Heavy Killer No. 2 (10:12).
5. Special 3 Way Match: HARASHIMA defeated Daisuke Sasaki and Masahiro Takanashi when HARASHIMA pinned Sasaki with the Somato (8:46).
6. Special Single Match: Go Shiozaki defeated Yuki Iino with the Gowan Lariat (15:02).
7. The 37KAMIINA Vs SCHADENFREUDE International?: Yuki Ueno, Shunma Katsumata & To-y defeated MAO, Chris Brookes & Antonio Honda when To-y pinned Honda with a Frankensteiner (20:30).
So how did it go when MAO teamed up with SCHADENFREUDE International? It was almost flawless. His skills combined with the talents of Chris Brookes & Antonio Honda was almost enough to beat The 37KAMIINA if it wasn’t for one mistake and a little bit of luck at the end. An attack from MAO missed its target and hit Brookes by mistake. Honda tried to take control of things by hitting Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata with Bionic Elbows. He and MAO then teamed up on To-y but To-y captured Honda with a Frankensteiner out of nowhere to get the win. The result continues MAO’s losing streak against The 37KAMIINA since running away from the group. Ueno said the Sumo Hall show is just around the corner and he is really looking forward to defending the KO-D Openweight Title against MAO. They have more prelim matches coming up before then so he will see MAO again this weekend. Backstage MAO described today’s match as him running away from home and stopping by at his friend’s place. He wanted to join the original SCHADENFREUDE unit years ago so today was kind of like his dream coming true. He said no matter what happens, he will have a place to come back to.
If Yuki Iino or Tetsuya Endo want to beat Go Shiozaki today showed they aren’t ready to do it yet. Shiozaki fought Iino in a singles match with Atsushi Kotoge in his corner. Before the show began both teams signed the contract for their KO-D Tag Team Titles match at Sumo Hall. TEAM NOAH said they are going to show their strength and win the belts. Endo dismissed Kotoge and said he is only interested in getting the fall on Shiozaki. In the singles match Iino and Shiozaki fought around the room hitting each other with Chops, Lariats and Spears. Iino reached his limit first and Shiozaki pinned him with the Gowan Lariat. Then after the match Kotoge knocked down Endo with a Headbutt! He doesn’t like the smack talk Endo has been giving him so at Sumo Hall it will be Kotoge and not Shiozaki who will score the fall on Endo. The two teams got into another scuffle backstage.
HARASHIMA won the 3 Way Match, scoring the pinfall on Daisuke Sasaki with the Somato. Smile Squash then went and got their KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title belts back. However during the fight KANON was able to steal back one of the belts from Yasu Urano so the champions do not have their complete set back yet. HARASHIMA promised his team will definitely have all three belts back in time for Sumo Hall so they can put together a great entrance. Backstage KANON warned reminded everyone he has a singles match against HARASHIMA coming up this Sunday. Sasaki complained about the “orange, alcoholic bastard” Masahiro Takanashi getting in the way a lot during the 3 Way.
KANON was given a match against his mentor TAKA Michinoku to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of his debut. The match was mostly Michinoku in control but KANON had some close calls. He countered the Michinoku Driver but was then rolled up into the Heavy Killer No. 2 cradle to lose by pinfall. Backstage Michinoku said he remembered teaming with KANON for his 4th Anniversary last year so was happy to have a singles match against him this time around. He is interested to see if KANON can move up to the top spot in DDT and challenge for the KO-D Title. He also promoted JTO’s 5th Anniversary show taking place next week. KANON promised to pay him back for today at that show.
Yesterday Danshoku Dieno successfully pulled off a plan to win the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title from Funky Kato but that only made him a target for his opponents and also his tag partner today. Kazuma Sumi quickly tried to pin Dieno for the title even though they were teaming together to fight Sanshiro Takagi & Yuni. It got so bad that Sumi stopped Dieno from giving Takagi the Danshoku Driver. Takagi then tricked Sumi into working together only for Takagi to give him a Superplex for the win. Takagi does not know why Dieno went through the trouble to become the Iron Man Champion but he ordered him not to lose the title until their match at Sumo Hall so he can win it in his last match! Yuni and Sumi then started arguing because Sumi has a singles match against Takagi coming up but Yuni does not. Then Keigo Nakamura and To-y entered the ring also demanding to fight Takagi in a match. Takagi decided he will fight all of them and also Takeshi Masada in a 5-Vs-1 match on 13th July. Each opponent will get to wrestle him for two minutes each. If any of them can beat Takagi in that time he will raise their pay!
Today was Nakamura’s birthday so he wanted to be the “main character” of his match. For that reason he held back from tagging in either Jun Akiyama or Soma Takao even when it was right to do so. He also asked Akiyama for a birthday gift and got one in the form of Akiyama giving Endo the Exploder Suplex so Nakamura could pin him. He then went for the Diving Headbutt but Endo dodged it and grabbed him in the Yurikamome submission hold. The birthday boy had no choice but to give up.
Toru Owashi wrestled in Dragongate during the week and was eager to show off his lucha skills in the opening match here. Kazuki Hirata also wanted to dance but Akito refused. He eventually got everyone including Makoto Oishi to dance together. Akito then ended up catching Hirata in a Gedo Clutch to get the win.
It was announced during the show that the Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere concept will return on 2nd August. There will be three different matches with Right To Challenge prizes on the line on that day.

2. Lucha Libre Rules: Daisuke Sasaki, KANON & MJ Paul defeated Toru Owashi, Kazuki Hirata & Antonio Honda when KANON pinned Hirata after the Freedom Call (10:39).
3. Yukio Naya & Keigo Nakamura defeated Jun Akiyama & Makoto Oishi when Nakamura pinned Oishi with the Running Diving Headbutt (9:27).
4. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Chris Brookes, Masahiro Takanashi & Takeshi Masada defeated HARASHIMA, Akito & Soma Takao when Masada pinned Takao with the Masada No Chikara KOBU Mukimuki (12:34).
5. Special 6-Man Tag Match ~ BURNING Vs TEAM NOAH!: Go Shiozaki, Atsushi Kotoge & Hi69 defeated Tetsuya Endo, Yuki Iino & Yuya Koroku when Kotoge pinned Koroku with the Killswitch (15:25).
6. Sanshiro Takagi Indefinite Rest Road ~ Special Tag Match: Sanshiro Takagi & Miyu Yamashita defeated Danshoku Dieno & Maki Itoh when Takagi pinned Dieno with the Stone Cold Stunner (13:21).
7. Road To PETER PAN 2024! Special Tag Match: MAO & To-y defeated Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata when MAO pinned Katsumata with the Michinoku Driver II (26:24).
It’s still another month to go until “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2024” but today was the last stop at Korakuen Hall before DDT returns to Sumo Hall. One that caused friction inside The 37KAMIINA thanks to the main event. The four members of the group paired off against each other to build up Yuki Ueno against MAO. Ueno teamed with Shunma Katsumata while MAO had To-y as his partner. Everyone looked to be having fun with the match, doing some good-natured poking at each other and the NeppoWER!! pose being used often. The fun then turned wreckless when chairs were set up at ringside and Katsumata crashed into them after MAO dodged his dive out of the ring. Both teams were able to hit synchronised dives to their opponents. MAO almost got the win when he hit Katsumata with the Iai Kick but Ueno broke the pin. To-y came in to hold Ueno back while MAO gave Katsumata the Michinoku Driver II to get the win.
MAO spoke a lot about the other members of The 37KAMIINA after the match because they do not all fight each other often. He now realizes just how great Ueno is after wrestling him today. He also sees how much Katsumata has grown because they’ve been working so hard together. Since MAO is facing Ueno at Sumo Hall for the KO-D Openweight Title he needs to make a decision. MAO is going to run away from home by temporarily leaving The 37KAMIINA! He was about to exit the ring when Ueno stopped him just for a moment. He understands MAO is taking the match seriously and knows just how much he also loves to be free. He does not know if MAO is fully quitting The 37KAMIINA, joining another unit or if somebody else will soon take care of him. But no matter what MAO is doing, The 37KAMIINA will always be there to make him shine!
Backstage Ueno said he understands the heavy weight that comes with leaving a unit because he himself did it before with DISASTER BOX. It is a sad feeling but MAO’s choice to leave also makes Ueno look forward to the KO-D Title match even more. All he wants MAO to do is not take this decision lightly. Katsumata said The 37KAMIINA will continue and will be a unit that MAO will want to come back to. MAO said he will always trust Ueno but does not want to rely on him. He wants to face Ueno in as many prelim matches as possible from now until Sumo Hall and does not mind who DDT will make him team up with. He is doing this because it will be the best way to raise Ueno’s motivation as well as his own. MAO said he will eventually go home after “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2024” because he loves everyone but does not know what will happen after that. Especially if he discovers a new life he really likes away from The 37KAMIINA.
Miyu Yamashita and Maki Itoh from Tokyo Joshi Pro both consider Sanshiro Takagi to be an important person in their lives because he was their entryway into pro wrestling. So it was fitting for Takagi to have them be part of one of his final matches before his indefinite break as a pro wrestler begins. Tetsuya Koda though thought otherwise. The inclusion of Danshoku Dieno in the match and his lewd moveset being performed on his talent was too much for the TJPW boss to bear so he interfered in the match. That caused the DDT GM and Koda’s part-time rival Hisaya Imabayashi to get involved. Both of them started fighting each other until they both got their faces shoved into Dieno’s backside. The scheduled match continued and Itoh gave Takagi a Stunner. Yamashita then picked up Itoh in the Electric Chair position and dropped her face first into Dieno’s Hell Gate. She then kicked Dieno in the butt and Takagi followed up by giving Dieno an Avalanche Brainbuster before pinning him with the Stunner.
Takagi told Yamashita and Itoh after the match how much he really wanted to wrestle them because TJPW is an important part of his career. Yamashita was the catalyst for TJPW and Itoh has spread it across the world. He will work closely with Koda to help grow TJPW even more. He also likes the idea of Itoh inheriting the Stunner from him. She says she is going to use the move more often in America. Takagi also had news for Danshoku Dieno. Takagi has thought long and hard about who he wants his last opponent to be at Sumo Hall. It has to be someone who embodies the “Dramatic Dream” and Dieno fits the image more than anyone else. Dieno agreed and has a match stipulation in mind. The Weapon Rumble! Takagi swears it is not a retirement but Dieno wants nothing more than to retire him at Sumo Hall!
In a preview for the KO-D Tag Team Titles match at Sumo Hall, TEAM NOAH paid a visit to face BURNING in a 6-Man Tag Match. Tetsuya Endo and Go Shiozaki started off but once Yuki Iino got into the match he and Shiozaki spent time beating each other’s chests raw. Atsushi Kotoge’s plan to focus on Yuya Koroku paid off when he pinned him with the Killswitch to give the visiting team the win. Iino and Shiozaki kept fighting afterwards and had to be pulled apart. Iino demanded a singles match against Shiozaki before the tag title bout happens. Shiozaki said he will do it anytime and promise to damage Iino’s chest twice as bad as he did today. Endo said today was the first time he saw something out of Kotoge. He told him not to hold anything back when he fights DDT.
The battle for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles has gotten even more crowded than it’s already been. Two members of Smile Squash were at the show today without their belts because DAMNATION T.A stole them recently. With that on the minds of HARASHIMA & Akito things got even messier when they and Soma Takao lost to SCHADENFREUDE International. The consequence of that is now Masahiro Takanashi, Takeshi Masada & Antonio Honda wanted in on the title match at Sumo Hall! DAMNATION T.A came out with the stolen belts demanding to know what the match was going to be because it was already announced as a 3 Way Trios match. That caused Katsumata & To-y to enter the ring and finally reveal who their third member is supposed to be. It’s Aja Kong! After a lot of arguing between the teams, Imabayashi confirmed that the titles will be on the line in a Survival 4 Way Match on 21st July. That way only the strongest team will be left holding the three championship belts.
Keigo Nakamura scored a big win by pinning Makoto Oishi in a tag match. Jun Akiyama was a big challenge for him to overcome but Yukio Naya was there to block him off. Nakamura got the pinfall by placing Oishi seated between the ropes and then hitting the Running Diving Headbutt while Oishi was dangling in the air.
Match #2 was under Lucha Libre Rules as per Toru Owashi’s request. Honda tried to do a Rolling Sole Butt to fit in but only ended up injuring himself. He tried to tell a Gongitsune story only for Daisuke Sasaki to cut him off. Owashi, Honda & Kazuki Hirata all put on Hirata GO!! glasses and danced around KANON, dealing him psychological damage. However Sasaki & MJ Paul attacked them and soon Hirata was dancing alone unaware that DAMNATION T.A were surrounding him. The three of them destroyed Hirata from there and won the match.
Kazuma Sumi beat both Yuni and Ilusion in the latest show opener between their generation. He used the movement of a 619 to grab Yuni and roll him over into a School Boy for the three count.

Shizuoka is home for Shino Suzuki so she gets an important singles match against Kakuta when Tokyo Joshi Pro comes over for a visit.

This is a little bit awkward. The original version of Smile Squash are teaming together again for the first time since Soma Takao betrayed the unit to join DAMNATION back in May 2018. He backstabbed HARASHIMA and turned heel out of jealousy back then. All water under the bridge, eh?

The latest GLEAT show at Korakuen Hall was a joint show with DDT, mashing the two rosters together for a bunch of inter-promotional matches. In the main event it was DDT’s heavyweight team that defeated BULK Orchestra. Even more newsworthy is Yuki Iino pinned Hayato Tamura with the Spear, scoring the win over the G-REX Champion! Iino rubbed it in his opponents’ faces after the match, saying GLEAT is weak and comparing them to the brass band club in elementary school. When Tamura went to respond, Iino tackled him with another Spear and then posed with the G-REX Title. After the DDT team left the ring Tamura promised he will get revenge. He also encouraged GLEAT fans to support DDT and DDT fans to support GLEAT. Backstage Yukio Naya talked about the times he wrestled with KAZMA SAKAMOTO in Real Japan and then challenged him to a singles match. Ryuichi Kawakami lost his temper at his partners for making GLEAT look weak.
A 10-Man Elimination Tag match mixed the two rosters together. One side was an alliance between SCHADENFREUDE International and #STRONGHEARTS that took on the name SCHADENHEARTS. The other side paired together DAMNATION T.A with Black Generation International. BGI’s Kaito Ishida ended up being the last man standing.
El Lindaman didn’t hear the news about Sanshiro Takagi’s recent demotion. He declared he was going to take over the President role from Takagi while attacking him. When Takagi fought back he sadly explained to Lindaman he is the Vice President now. Takagi also crashed the Dramatic Dream bike into Yuki Ueno. Lindaman then brought out a bouquet as a gift for Takagi but tried to hit him with it. The match came down to MAO beating Akito with the Iai Kick. Afterwards he called out Kaz Hayashi and said he is his hero who has been a big influence. Hayashi is retiring soon but MAO wants to defend the DDT Universal Title against him before he retires. Or to be more exact, MAO wants to defend the title against Shiryu, Hayashi’s masked gimmick from Michinoku Pro! Hayashi said he can tell MAO has been influenced by him and he promised he will tell Shiryu to accept the challenge. The title match will go ahead in DDT on 16th June.
GLEAT did get a straight tag team win against DDT when SBK & TAKUMA defeated To-y & Kazuma Sumi. The DDT side did well enough. To-y hit the Kojima Wonderland while Sumi did a Lionsault. But SBK & TAKUMA isolated Sumi with tag moves and TAKUMA finished him off with the 630°. SBK joked that Sumi seems to already know them from somewhere else but he doesn’t remember. Sumi took the blame for losing and couldn’t shake the feeling there was something else other than GLEAT and DDT that connected him and his opponents today…
Several of the matches on the show seemed to be booked because the wrestlers involved had similar names. For example Tetsuya Endo from DDT fought Tetsuya Izuchi from GLEAT. Endo got the win out of nowhere by giving Izuchi the Tetsuya In The Sky. He thought they would get along afterwards because of their names but Izuchi bit Endo’s hand after the match.
There were times before when CIMA & HARASHIMA were in the same match but today was the first time they teamed up together. CIMA also got to meet up with Soma Takao again but this time Takao was teaming with Soma Watanabe. That made it HARACIMA Vs Soma-Soma! Backstage after the match Watanabe told Takao that when he was in high school he sent a resume to DDT hoping to wrestle for them but never received an answer. His Dramatic Dream to be in DDT finally came true today.
Kazuki Hirata tried to get Minoru Tanaka to wear the Hirata GO! glasses and dance with him. Tanaka kept on refusing until finally the temptation was too much to ignore. The extra power of the dance led to Tanaka pinning Hirata with the B”D”F. He ended up enjoying it so much he told Hirata they should go clubbing together!
The opening match was already changed when MICHIKO opted out so her otaku alter ego Densha MICHIo could take her place. Keigo Nakamura decided to do something similar by showing as Jitensha KEIgo. That left Yu Iizuka as the odd man out on the team because he wanted to wrestle seriously. Jun Tonsho got dragged into doing the Hell Gate with Danshoku Dieno but that left Makoto Oishi along to fight off everyone else. Shunma Katsumata, Takanori Ito & Issei Onitsuka took advantage of that to win the 3 Way Trios Match.
