*Kazuki Hirata becomes the 1,679th champion.
6. The Final Match Of Beer Garden Pro Wrestling 2024! Special Drunk 3 Way Tag Match: Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi defeated Tetsuya Endo & Yuki Iino and Yuki Ueno & MAO when Takanashi pinned Endo after the H.O.D (24:01).

For the final time this year DDT held a Beer Garden show at Ueno Park. The main event was advertised as a Drunk 3 Way Tag Match where the wrestlers took a drink of tequila after every two count kickout. Chris Brookes wanted it to just be beer but accepted the tequila. Yuki Iino tried to refuse the drinks because he had to got work his other job at a private gym after the show. However he had to follow the rules and soon got drunk along with everyone else in the match. He also started acting like Yuki “Sexy” Iino again when his old Pheromones song played over the speakers. Yukinori Matsui wound up getting involved more than a referee is expected to so all of the wrestlers made him drink with them. Soon everyone was so drunk they all missed their attacks. Tetsuya Endo couldn’t do handsprings any more, CDK couldn’t hit their signature holds while Yuki Ueno & MAO kept missing their jumping kick moves. Endo got Iino to sober up by telling him Kenta Kobashi will be mad at him for getting drunk. Endo then lifted up MAO for the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb but had to stop spinning to maintain his composure. CDK took advantage by using their double team move called the Hair Of The Dog to pile themselves on top of Endo and MAO. Endo’s shoulders were pinned down by Masahiro Takanashi and he couldn’t kick out, making CDK the winners.

Danshoku Dieno immediately beat Kazuki Hirata to regain the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title and then insulted him for being a lazy wrestler. They were in the semi-main event and the way Hirata treated it means he will never escape the opening match. Hirata stood up not just for himself but also on behalf of all the wrestlers who wrestled in the early portion of today’s show. He called out some of those wrestlers to get in the ring and soon a brawl broke out between the group. Two sides formed against each other and an impromptu 6 Vs 7 Handicap Match began. Even the referees started turning against each other during the match as Yukinori Matsui and Daisuke Kiso fought each other in the ring while everyone else was brawling outside. Eventully Hirata’s team won when he pinned Dieno with the Miracle One Shot Cradle, taking the Iron Man Title back in the process. He wanted to celebrate but his own team then tried to pin him to win the title for themselves, forcing Hirata to flee with the belt.

A cute tiger cub toy was attached to the middle of a tiger rope. The same rope was also used to connect Jun Akiyama and Antonio Honda while they fought each other. Akiyama also brought out a cane but Honda convinced him to not to use it because it is an illegal weapon. Akiyama accepted the explanation but Honda then grabbed the cane. He tried to attack Akiyama with it but Akiyama ducked, the cane bounced off the ropes and Honda hit himself with it instead. Honda was able to trip Akiyama face first into a chair set up in the ring. He climbed the ropes for the Diving Fist Drop but Akiyama lifted up the tiger cub as a shield. Honda redirected his landing and missed on purpose so he wouldn’t harm the cub. Honda then tried to do the Bionic Elbow but ended up tangling himself with the rope while he was winding up the move. Akiyama took advantage and used the Exploder Suplex to win the match. He said he didn’t understand the rules but the tiger is cute so he knew it needed to be protected. The rule was Honda’s idea and he admitted it blew up in his face today.

The Street Kickboxing match no longer had Kota Ibushi involved but one of his protégés Yukimitsu Takahashi still appeared for the bout. He and Takeshi Masada spent a lot of the match fighting each other in and out of the ring. Keigo Nakamura tried fighting with Karate instead of kickboxing. HARASHIMA had trouble dealing with Thanomsak Toba but when it came down to him against Gota Ihashi, HARASHIMA knocked his opponent out with the Somato.

An unlikely fan favourite emerged from this year’s Beer Garden shows. Mataro Suzuki from the DDT Video Team was often dragged into DAMNATION T.A’s matches, usually because Daisuke Sasaki was too hungover to wrestle. It happened again today but this time the match suddenly had the added stipulation that whoever got pinned must retire from pro wrestling immediately! Sadly for Suzuki he lost the match by missing the People’s Elbow and getting pinned afterward. He was given an impromptu retirement ceremony after the match that included a 10 bell salute while the wrestlers all cried at ringside.

The show began with Akito and Dieno deciding on the rules for their DDT Extreme Title match on 20th October. Akito decided it will be a nobodyknows+ Rules Match. There will be nine victory conditions and prohibited actions decided on before the match. The referee will secretly select pick one of the conditions and it will be up to the wrestlers to discover for themselves how they can win or lose the match. Akito and Dieno did this match once before back in 2014 but Dieno has no memory of it. The options are all supposed to be randomised but as champion Akito will get to choose the 9 conditions. However he allowed Dieno to come up with one condition. Dieno’s idea if picked is you can win by bringing his pet dog Haku into the ring and make him hold his paw onto your hand.

5. DDT Extreme Title – IPPON Lighttube Tag Team Death Match: Akito & Yuni defeated Shunma Katsumata (c) & Kazuma Sumi by IPPON when Yuni did a Diving Foot Stomp to Katsumata on the Lighttube (15:02).
*Shunma Katsumata fails in V7. Akito becomes the 60th DDT Extreme Champion!
6. DDT Universal Title: Yuki Iino (c) defeated Yukio Naya with the Spear (17:04).
*V1 for Yuki Iino.
7. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Yuki Ueno, MAO & Kaisei Takechi defeated Chris Brookes, Masahiro Takanashi & Takeshi Masada when Ueno pinned Masada with the WR (25:11).

For the second time this year DDT can thank Kaisei Takechi for getting them a sold out Korakuen Hall. Seven months after his impressive debut, Takechi was back to have another match. He was with Yuki Ueno and The 37KAMIINA again this time with MAO along for the ride. Takeshi Masada was a familiar opponent from last time but now he’s a part of SCHADENFREUDE International. And when you get SCHADENFREUDE you get the antics of Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi to deal with. They used the rubber band spot on him from across the room and Brookes threw Takechi’s into the iron rails at ringside. Brookes also beat Takechi’s chest red with Chops. However Takechi fought back by hitting a No Touch Topé Con Hilo onto everyone outside the ring and then giving Brookes a Choke Slam. The match then came down to Ueno pinned Masada with the WR ensuring that Masada is still unbeaten after two matches.

After the match Masada wanted to keep fighting Takechi even though he lost. Brookes though calmed things down and even shook Takechi’s hand. Takechi said he is still new at wrestling and does not want to stop here. Makoto Oishi is one of his mentors and he heard Oishi’s final match with DDT is on 3rd October. Takechi wants to have a match with Oishi on that show even though he knows Oishi is already booked for a KO-D Tag Team Titles match. Oishi thought about it. He pointed out it would be disrespectful towards the champions if he uses up some of his energy wrestling another match beforehand. However ShunMao both gave them the thumbs up to do the match. DDT later announced that match will be Takechi & Oishi against Akito & Kazuki Hirata. Until then Takechi is going straight back to doing his duties with THE RAMPAGE. Backstage Masada complained that him losing this match and Hideki Okatani losing the first match back in February is not showing the future of DDT in a good light. He swears the next time he faces Takechi he will beat him with a three count.

Takechi drawing in a big crowd fired up the undercard to show what the rest of DDT is made of. Yuki Iino’s defence of the DDT Universal Title against Yukio Naya was a battle between the last two homegrown heavyweights still standing in the company. In a match filled with Chops, slams, Shoulder Blocks and Lariats Iino had to hit three Spears on Naya to beat him. It took three Spears because Naya kicked out at one the first time, at two the second and was finally pinned for three on the third time. The two shook hands after the match and praised each other.

Iino was then suddenly ambushed by To-y after Naya left the ring. He gave Iino a Dropkick but was then taken down with the Spear. To-y’s spirit wouldn’t break though and he challenged Iino for a shot at the Universal Title. Iino ran the ropes looking to Spear him again but instead stopped himself and accepted the challenge because To-y wants it so badly. It will happen in Fukuoka on 13th October. Iino warns that it will only take one Spear to beat To-y and he is confident it will happen. To-y wants to start winning championships like everyone else in The 37KAMIINA is doing. He can’t stay in the position he is in and has no choice but to move forward. That’s why he isn’t losing any heart despite getting Speared over and over.

A new generation of wrestlers got to experience the IPPON Lighttube Death Match. Shunma Katsumata put the DDT Extreme Title on the line against Akito in a tag team version of the match. The added stipulation was Katsumata teamed with Kazuma Sumi and Akito teamed with Yuni. If Katsumata’s team won then it is a successful title defence but if they lost then Akito becomes the new champion no matter who was directly involved in the finish. Yuki Ishida and Yuya Koroku demonstrated the rules of the match using a plastic baseball bat to explain who would lose depending on how the lighttube would break. The match itself had many close calls and near misses with the lighttube. The finish came when Akito Body Slammed Katsumata onto the lighttube, placed Sumi on top of him and then pinned the both of them down. Yuni then did a Diving Foot Stomp onto the pile, causing the lighttube to be crushed underneath. Since Katsumata was lying directly on top of it, the ruling was he broke the lighttube so Akito wins the championship!

Akito was pleased with how the match went and told the others that the stipulation does not exclusively belong to him. He wants the match to belong to represent DDT so he is passing it down to them. Whenever Katsumata, Yuni or Sumi find an opponent who they think can put on an amazing IPPON Lighttube Death Match, Akito wants them to use those rules. Akito then nominated Danshoku Dieno to be his first challenger because he had a secret to tell him. Dieno entered the ring carrying his beloved pet dog Haku and listened to what Akito had to say. Back when Akito was sent by Sanshiro Takagi to go destroy Pheromones, Akito actually liked the gimmick in general. But he hated Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno because he admires Dieno too much to see him in a supporting role. Pheromones meant so much to Dieno and Akito got rid of it so Akito wants to put what is most important to him on the line against Dieno to make up for it. What matters most to Akito is the Extreme Title. Dieno said Akito underestimated him. It’s true that he cared a lot about Pheromones but Dieno has so many other important purposes in life. He also has room to add the Extreme Title to that list on 20th October! Akito shook Haku’s paw to seal the deal.

Dieno was the opponent chosen for Oishi’s final singles match under contract for DDT with the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title on the line. Daisuke Kiso was the referee for the match but Hisaya Imabayashi warned both wrestlers that Yukinori Matsui was sitting backstage and if anybody broke the rules, he would come out and deliver strict justice! A camera backstage filmed Matsui watching the match and Imabayashi would put that footage on the screen as a warning whenever the rules were being bent. Matsui did get angry watching Dieno and Oishi’s antics but he remained backstage. Imabayashi though lost his temper and climbed into the ring to complain, pushing down Kiso for not doing a good enough job. That was Matsui’s breaking point and he marched down to ringside Goldberg style. He got distracted by a few different people including Imabayashi trying to stop him. But they settled their differences with a kiss and entered the ring together along with Dieno’s pet dog Haku. Matsui asked Kiso to let Dieno and Oishi keep wrestling they way they want to because it is Oishi’s last DDT match in Korakuen. The match continued and Oishi immediately tapped out Dieno with a Sleeper Hold to win the Iron Man Title. Dieno then grabbed Oishi in the same move after the match to win it back.

If Match #3 was a test to see if Ilusion deserves to be part of the upcoming KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles match then he failed it. DAMNATION T.A all brought chairs to the ring and threw them at Ilusion’s team before the bell. Antonio Honda summoned Gongitsune but the attack hit his teammates and the referee by mistake. Ilusion was thrown into the ropes where MJ Paul broke a chair over his head. Daisuke Sasaki & KANON then finished him off with the Freedom Call to give DAMNATION T.A the win.

Good news for Kazuki Hirata. He doesn’t have to worry about holding the white Right To Challenge Shield anymore because Soma Takao beat him for it. That was in fact Tetsuya Endo & Yuya Koroku’s goal for the match too. All of them wanted to pin Hirata to take the Shield off of him. Hirata had Toru Owashi & Yuki Ishida to play bodyguard for him but that trust eventually ran out. Hirata used the Tegatana chop to knock out both his opponents as well as his own teammates. Endo grabbed Hirata and lifted him up for the Torture Rack Bomb but Hirata slipped on a pair of Hirata GO! glasses over his face to stop it. The two of them danced but when the song ended, Takao rolled up Hirata for the three count behind Endo’s back.

It always feels weird to me when the main championship is the curtain jerker for any wrestling show. But Shinya Aoki had things to do involving the RIZIN show that was happening in Saitama later in the evening so here we have the KO-D Openweight Champion in the opening match. He got to face off against Jun Akiyama but the tag match came down to HARASHIMA pinning Keigo Nakamura with the Somato. HARASHIMA thanked Aoki for teaming with him. He then said he cannot wait any long to try and win a Right To Challenge Shield so he is challenging Aoki for the KO-D Title! It turns out Aoki has been waiting for this moment to happen all along because he thinks HARASHIMA is the undisputed ace of DDT. He accepted the challenge for 20th October and promised to use all of his strength to defend the strongest championship in Japan.

DDT announced they found a main sponsor for their free show in Sumida on 4th November. Geeniest is a character goods company that usually provides pop-up shops in department stores and event halls.

1. Hajime Ohara defeated Yuya Koroku with the Mui Bien (8:48).
3. Tetsuya Endo & Yuki Iino defeated Kai Fujimura & Kohei Kinoshita when Endo pinned Fujimura with the Torture Rack Bomb (17:33).
5. Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls: Go Shiozaki, Akitoshi Saito, Mohammed Yone & Atsushi Kotoge (2) defeated Jun Akiyama, Yukio Naya, Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Harutoki (1).
5a. Harutoki pinned Go Shiozaki with El Momento de Muerte (23:26).
5b. Go Shiozaki pinned Harutoki with the Strong Arm Lariat (2:10).
5c. Akitoshi Saito pinned Tomomitsu Matsunaga with the Sickle Death (9:28).

It’s been a while since I wrote about the “LIMIT BREAK” shows over at NOAH. The last one took place back in July and I skipped over it. The only DDT related matches on it were Jun Akiyama and Tomomitsu Matsunaga in the opening two bouts so there wasn’t much to write about. Today though was different because those two along with Yukio Naya were in a big main event against TEAM NOAH. The three of them along with Harutoki fought TEAM NOAH in a Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls match. The first two falls were both decided by Go Shiozaki and Harutoki. The visiting team unexpectedly won the first fall when Harutoki blocked Shiozaki’s Lariat with a High Kick and then used a Cross-Arm Falcon Arrow to get the pinfall. The second fall didn’t last long because Harutoki went for the quick win only to get cut down by Shiozaki’s Lariat for the three count. The final fall began with Atsushi Kotoge facing off against Naya before switching over to Akitoshi Saito against Akiyama. Matsunaga tagged in but got caught by the teamwork of Saito & Mohammed Yone. That led to Saito pinning Matsunaga with the Sickle Death to end the match. Later Saito said he would like to team up with Akiyama once last time before he retires.

BURNING fared better in their match against Kai Fujimura & Kohei Kinoshita. Late in the match Tetsuya Endo went after Fujimura with Swan Dive attacks and Yuki Iino took out Kinoshita with the Spear. Endo then caught Fujimura with the Tetsuya In The Sky before pinning him with the Torture Rack Bomb. Endo & Iino promised to keep on burning while the other team wants to have more matches against them.

Well, most of BURNING fared better. Yuya Koroku was in the opening match and lost to Hajime Ohara. He targeted Ohara’s left arm but his plan didn’t work out. Instead Ohara trapped him in the Muy Bien submission and made him tap out. Ohara would later become the newest member of TEAM NOAH at the end of the show.

3. Daisuke Sasaki, KANON & MJ Paul defeated Yuki Ueno, Shunma Katsumata & Kazuma Sumi when Paul pinned Sumi with the Reverse Splash (10:39).

5a. Rematch: MAO, Gorgeous Matsuno & Keigo Nakamura defeated HARASHIMA, Danshoku Dieno & Kazuki Hirata when MAO pinned Hirata with the Iai Kick (11:43).
6. Shiroishi Specialty Special Single Match: Tetsuya Endo defeated Makoto Oishi with the Burning Star Press (24:14).

Today was supposed to be Tetsuya Endo being the centre of attention because DDT was in his home area. But the main event was just as much about Makoto Oishi as he moves ever closer towards his farewell from DDT. Endo was able to beat him but he told everyone afterwards just how much Oishi means to him. Oishi has looked out for Endo ever since Endo was a trainee and it is no exaggeration to say a part of Endo was created by Oishi. He definitely wants DDT to hold a show like this again next year so Oishi can wrestle on it. Oishi likes the idea because he has only ever beaten Endo in a singles match once and wants to have more wins than losses against him.

One of Yuya Koroku’s ultimate goals as a wrestler is to surpass Jun Akiyama. The veteran played such an important part in Koroku’s training and Koroku thinks the best way to repay him is to beat him. He couldn’t beat him today but Akiyama encouraged him to keep trying. He suggests what Koroku needs to do is think really hard about how he can beat him and erase his presence.

A chair was used by DAMNATION T.A several times on their way to victory today. However Shunma Katsumata is also fired up thanks to the chairshots they used against him. Even though DAMNATION T.A have held the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles four times, they have never scored a successful defence as champions. They are still confident about tomorrow’s title defence against The 37KAMIINA especially since all of their opponents look to be too preoccupied with other things to be motivated for this match.

Look at To-y for example. He threatened to cash in his Right To Challenge Shield on Yuki Iino to get an immediate DDT Universal Title shot after Match #2. However Iino cut To-y off with the Spear during the middle of his speech. Iino was furious backstage at To-y trying to cash in on him. As the Universal Champion he will break To-y if he ever does that again! To-y however thinks the Spear helped snap himself back to his senses so he will be ready for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Titles match tomorrow.

5. Special Single Match: Tetsuya Endo Vs To-y
6. Special Single Match: Yuki Iino Vs Makoto Oishi
7. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada (c) Vs MAO & Shunma Katsumata

Poor Takeshi Masada still isn’t getting much respect despite being one half of the KO-D Tag Team Champions. At the contract signing for this title match ShunMao called CDK their rivals instead of SCHADENFREUDE International and Chris Brookes even agreed with that notion. On the bright side Brookes is advising Masada to wrestle the match in their own unique way. That matters to his development just as much as winning or losing.

Makoto Oishi’s farewell tour brings him over to Yuki Ueno for what could be their last singles match together.

If To-y is still holding his Right To Challenge Shield by the time this show happens then Tetsuya Endo has a big chance to win it and set up another shot at Aoki for the KO-D Title. Akito could also possibly risk his Shield in a match against Kazuki Hirata. Meanwhile Masahiro Takanashi is laying low and hiding away in multi-man tag matches where the risk of directly losing a fall is much much lower.

Ryuichi “Fire” Kawakami is not running away from DDT after losing to Naya. He lost clean to Naya when they finally faced each other in a singles match but they will meet again in an 8-Man Tag Match here.

There was a contract signing held today for Yuki Arai and Moka Miyamoto to promote the International Princess Title match. Miyamoto spoke about always valuing the spirit of harmony and how she incorporates Japanese elements into her wrestling. That is how she created the Korokan move during her first attempt to win the IP Title in 2022. So her goal if she becomes the champion is to spread those feelings across the world. Arai would like to see Miyamoto win the title if the champion was somebody else but she will defend it to the death against her. She also wants to start defending the title overseas, especially if it helps SKE48 with their efforts to grow internationally. If Arai beats Miyamoto then she will hold the record for most IP Title defences with 5 wins. She wants to be proud of her title reign and hopes this match will be memorable for reasons more than just her breaking the record.

The UWA World Tag Team Titles have been used mainly in Big Japan for the past few years and belonged to Michinoku Pro before that. Thanks to Aijin Tag winning the belts this week the championship is now being defended over to BASARA. It didn’t take long for them to find challengers because Isami Kodaka & Ryuichi Sekine quickly decided they wanted a title shot after they saw Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino’s victory.

The “HIEN” branding is bringing in more fresh faces to BASARA. Ganbare☆Pro are sending over Yumehito Imanari & Mizuki Watase as a tag team. There is also a mixture of outside talent being put together as Guts Ishijima, Hideyoshi Kamitani & Kuma Arashi take on the BASARA home team. There’s even a tag match with Speed Of Sounds on opposite sides to freshen up the undercard.

*Danshoku Dieno becomes the 1,669th champion.
-. Bonus Track: Danshoku Dieno Vs Makoto Oishi ended in a Time Limit Draw (4:07).

For the second time this year DDT held a show where they encouraged fans in attendance not to spoil anything that happened on it until the following day. DDT themselves only posted about the pre-show contract signing along with censored hints about the crazy things that happened during the matches. Since this was also a Beer Garden show that meant fans were also getting more creative matches than usual.

For example in the main event a sauna tent was pitched next to the ring and any wrestler caught breaking the rules or ignoring sauna etiquette were sent into the tent as punishment. Danshoku Dieno took part in the match as a “sauna master” of an imposter group called Shin The 37KAMIINA. Their goal was to beat and replace the original unit. One by one a different wrestler was sent to the tent for breaking etiquette. To-y broke the rule of attacking an opponent on the ropes, Dieno was punished for being lewd, Takayuki Ueki was sent to the tent for threatening his opponents with a gun and Yuki Ueno got in trouble for telling Yukinori Matsui to shut up. Eventually everyone was sent to the tent and remained there until To-y ran out accusing Dieno of harrassing him in there. The match continued in the ring where Shunma Katsumata and Keizo Matsuda tried to attack each other using heatwaves until they both fainted. To-y ended up scoring an upset pin on Dieno by giving him a Frankensteiner. As a result he won both the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title as well as Dieno’s Right To Challenge Shield!

Dieno immediately won back the title when he rolled up To-y during his victory speech but the Shield remains with To-y. Makoto Oishi then approached Dieno and asked him for an impromptu singles match right now! Time was short so Hisaya Imabayashi could only let it go ahead if the match had a time limit of 4 minutes and 7 seconds. Everyone agreed and began the match. Dieno and Oishi quickly fought amongst the crowd while the rest of the roster danced and partied around them before joining in the fight. Back in the ring Oishi gave Dieno the Lip Lock but time ran out before he could pin him. Oishi then asked to have another match with Dieno. Imabayashi decided it will happen at Korakuen Hall on 29th September.

Yoshihiko defeated Takeshi Masada in a wild match that at one point had both of them fighting each other on top of a nearby van. The match ended with Yoshihiko trying to drown Masada by pressing his head down into a bucket of water. Matsui called off the match in Yoshihiko’s favour when Masada stopped responding.

Each of the wrestlers in the 4 Way Match took on different gimmicks from their usual selves. MAO came out as an Orange Cassidy tribute called Mikan Cassidy, Chris Brookes turned into a police sergeant, HARASHIMA transformed into OBAKSHIMA the horror monster and Keigo Nakamura became a K5000 robot impervious to almost every attack. Sgt. Brookes shooting him with a gun had no effect. What did cause him harm was MAO squirting K5000 with a water gun. Sgt. Brookes sprayed both OBAKSHIMA and K5000 with a fire extinguisher and then snapped a long rubber strap into them. Mikan then lazily laid on top of K5000 for the pinfall.

A retro themed match was held under DRAGONGATE rules because Toru Owashi was acting like the troublesome heel he was back in 2004. Kazuki Hirata also showed up dressed in his debut gear and acting like a rookie all over again. Antonio Honda filled completed the bizarre trio by appearing as his Hulk Hogan tribute gimmick called Pero Pero Oyakata. Their match against a confused DAMNATION T.A turned into a brawl around the venue. KANON didn’t understand why Hirata wasn’t dancing and tried to tempt him with the Hirata GO! glasses. Things went out of hand when Honda stripped down to his underwear and tried to give everyone the Pedigree. When he tried to do it on Matsui, the referee called off the match.

A planned 6-Man Tag Match was turned into a 5 Vs 1 Handicap Match when Poison Sawada JULIE brainwashed Tetsuya Endo’s partners with Snake Magic! JULIE also did it to his own partners so Endo had to fight a snake army all by himself. Endo got his hands on the antidote during the match and soon cured Yuki Iino, Yuya Koroku and Kazuma Sumi. They all spat Poison Mist at JULIE, rendering him helpless so Endo could pin him with the Burning Star Press. Yuni was still brainwashed after the match but Endo got him to take the antidote and return to normal.

The masked dancing master Furitsuke Kamen choreographed a special entrance for Makoto Oishi but Akito interrupted it halfway through. He, Masahiro Takanashi & Ilusion would only let them do it if Oishi’s team could beat them. With some help from Yukio Naya, Yuki Ishida and Kamen himself Oishi was able to beat Ilusion by submission and everyone did the dance together.

The contract signing before the show was for the upcoming KO-D Tag Team Titles match. ShunMao held the titles last year but had to vacate them when Katsumata got injured. When he recovered, MAO wanted to hold off on challenging for the titles again so it could be used as a trump card. He decided to use that trump card after Ueno lost the KO-D Openweight Title so The 37KAMIINA could quickly recover their momentum. MAO considers CDK to be their true rivals, not SCHADENFREUDE International. Brookes understands his opinion and even agrees with it. He admits he & Masada struggled to beat Ueno & To-y over the weekend. But he wants his team to wrestle using their own style unique to DDT no matter if they win or lose. Masada said he wants to defend the titles even if it means he has to crawl onto the next step. ShunMao thinks he still hasn’t evolved enough yet though.

At the end of the show Oishi told everyone he wants a new version of NωA to continue without him. He asked Shunma Katsumata, Yuni & Sumi to form Shin NωA. Yuni & Sumi were both excited by the idea but Katsumata was hesitant to do it. He eventually agreed when Yuni & Sumi told him they both would like to become idols. The three of them sang one of the songs together to close out the show.

8. KO-D Openweight Title: Shinya Aoki (c) defeated Tetsuya Endo by Referee Stoppage with the Sleeper Hold (19:04).
*V1 for Shinya Aoki.

It’s been a weird story getting to today’s main event. From the moment when Shinya Aoki won the KO-D Openweight Title and Tetsuya Endo was the first person to challenge him, the buildup to their match centered around Endo’s knockout at the hands of Katsuhiko Nakajima two years ago. Endo was the KO-D Champion back then and the injury he suffered from that knockout caused him to vacate the title. The aftermath of that incident saw DDT going into disarray as they scrambled to crown a new ace in order to redirect the ship and deal with the damage dealt to their reputation. Fast forward to now and Aoki as the champion took it upon himself to suggest he would get revenge on Nakajima for disgracing the title because nobody else in DDT would. Endo took exception to that because it should be up to himself to climb back up to the top and eventually face Nakajima again. With Nakajima becoming such a focal point of the match’s marketing, Aoki suddenly changed his tune right in the final days heading into the show. Apparantely this was all done by Aoki to motivate Endo into overcoming his recent past and move on from Nakajima to become a strong wrestler again.

During the match itself Aoki went with different pins and submission holds to keep Endo grounded. In fact Aoki was the first one to go high risk by hitting a Topé Suicida. He was a difficult fighter for Endo to shake off. Endo tried Suplexing him to counter a Front Neck Lock but Aoki wouldn’t let go of the hold so Endo needed to do a Superplex to break it up. Later Aoki grabbed Endo in a Sleeper Hold and held on tight even after they both tumbled out of the ring. Endo finally freed himself and got to fight his way by hitting the Sasuke Special. Things were mostly going his way until he went up top for the Burning Star Press only for Aoki to chase up to him and do a Frankensteiner from the top rope! Endo scrambled out of the Manjigatame but Aoki trapped him in the Sleeper Hold again and kept on squeezing until Endo fainted. The match was stopped and Aoki won in his first KO-D Title defence.

Aoki didn’t have much to say to close out the show. His message to the outside world is everyone in DDT is strong. He wants everyone in DDT to hear and understand that too because they should have more confidence in themselves. Endo then bowed to him and Aoki did the same in return. Backstage Aoki said the strength Endo showed today is not just because he climbed back up from the bottom. He believes it’s because Endo is also strong as a person. Just because his body gave up today does not mean his spirit did too. Aoki wants the DDT wrestlers to have more confidence so they can all together make the KO-D Title more stronger, more interesting and more fun. Endo said he lost to Aoki today but he didn’t lose to himself. He spent the last few weeks facing his own past and came out of this match feeling positive. He is not going to run away from himself like he did after Nakajima knocked him out. Endo now feels invigorated and wants to beat Aoki so he can stand at the top of DDT again as the KO-D Champion!

Fuminori Abe had an embarrassing moment yesterday when he threw up in the ring after getting kicked in the stomach. He tried to act like it wasn’t a big deal and threatened to eat katsudon before today’s match in an attempt to recreate the moment. Thankfully he came to his senses and instead ate a pre-match meal that was easier on his stomach. It was proven to be the right decision when MAO kicked him in the stomach again and Abe signalled to everyone afterwards that he was safe. The match went on without incident and MAO went on to successfully defend the DDT Universal Title, beating Abe with the Iai Kick. Abe was still happy with how the match went. He didn’t puke this time and he also discovered a wrestler from his generation who knows how to excite him.

MAO’s celebration was short lived though because Yuki Iino charged into the ring and took him down with the Spear. He then cashed in his Right To Challenge Shield to get a Universal Title shot right away! MAO tried to create some distance by using the Michinoku Driver to slow down Iino. But Iino got back up and caught MAO with another Spear right as MAO was rebounding off the ropes. Iino hit one more Spear to get the pinfall and become the new Universal Champion! Iino continued ranting and pacing around the ring before calling out Yukio Naya to come down to the ring. He wants to settle the score with Naya over who is the best heavyweight in DDT and can now put the Universal Title on the line for the winner to claim. The challenge was accepted and will take place in Korakuen Hall on 29th September.

Match #6 was just like old times for the DDT that existed over a decade ago. Kota Ibushi continued his series of returns to DDT, HARASHIMA and Shuji Ishikawa were striking each other back and forth, Danshoku Dieno was being lewd as always, Yasu Urano existed and Michael Nakazawa got battered like always. Everyone was happy with how the reunion went except for Nakazawa.

Naya’s war with Ryuichi “Fire” Kawakami seems to be over after Naya scored a definitive victory over his enemy. They had a hard hitting back and forth match until DAMNATION T.A caused a distraction. Kawakami then hit Naya with a chair and gave him the Thunder Fire Power Bomb but Naya kicked out. Keigo Nakamura blocked Kawakami from going for another chair attack allowing Naya to strike the chair into his opponent’s face. Daisuke Sasaki tried to interfere but Naya threw him aside, hit Kawakami with a Knee Lift and then pinned him with The World’s Best Back Drop. Naya ended up admitting that Kawakami is a great wrestler. When Naya eventually becomes the KO-D Champion he expects there will be many wrestlers who will want to challenge him. Naya said he will beat all of them and that includes Kawakami in a rematch! Kawakami thinks Naya got lucky and can only beat him once out of a hundred times. His advice to Naya is to keep training and getting stronger until the next time they have another match.

Akito got a pinfall win over Shunma Katsumata out of nowhere to take his Right To Challenge Shield. Katsumata landed the Totonou Splash on Akito but the pinfall was then reversed for the sudden turnabout result. Afterwards Akito challenged Katsumata for the DDT Extreme Title but was not cashing in his Shield to do it. He has other plans for the Shield and this is just him making the challenge because he pinned the champion. He then requested his title bout against Katsumata be the return of the IPPON Lighttube Death Match! Hisaya Imabayashi was about to confirm the challenge when Akito interrupted him with one more twist. The title will be on the line in a Tag Team IPPON Lighttube Death Match and if Akito’s team wins then Akito becomes the champion no matter who breaks the lighttube! That also means if Katsumata’s team wins then it will count as a successful defence for Katsumata no matter who broke the lighttube. The two agreed to the stipulation and it will take place at the 29th September Korakuen show. Katsumata and Akito also said they will reveal who their tag partners will be tomorrow.

2. Danshoku Dieno, Kazuki Hirata & Kazuma Sumi defeated Toru Owashi, Keigo Nakamura & Ilusion when Dieno submitted Owashi because Dieno’s anus smelled too bad (9:13).

3. DAMNATION T.A Vs BURNING!: Tetsuya Endo & Yuya Koroku defeated Daisuke Sasaki & MJ Paul when Endo pinned Paul with the Burning Star Press (13:22).
4. Special Single Match: Jun Akiyama defeated Makoto Oishi with the Wrist-Clutch Exploder (12:44).
5. Special Tag Match: MAO & Shunma Katsumata defeated Fuminori Abe & Antonio Honda when Katsumata pinned Honda with the Totonou Splash (14:43).
6. Fight For The Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Shield: Yuki Iino defeated KANON with the Spear (14:23).
*Yuki Iino wins KANON’s Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Shield.
7. Osaka Specialty Special Tag Match: Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada defeated Yuki Ueno & To-y when Masada pinned To-y with the Masada No Chikara KOBU Mukimuki (21:05).

On the day before the fated showdown in Nagoya there were some extra drama made in Osaka today. The show was dedicated to Takeshi Masada’s homecoming but he was left out of some of the signature SCHADENFREUDE International spots during the main event. Since his mother was in the audience, Masada was upset he didn’t get to look his best in front of her and considered walking out of the match. However he returned to the ring when the fans chanted his name and even scored the winning pinfall.

Two Right To Challenge Shields changed hands today. The black shield now belongs to Yuki Iino after he beat KANON fair and square. KANON bent the rules by throwing Yuya Koroku into Iino’s way at ringside and then grabbed a chair to hit his opponent with. In the ring Iino used a rope break to get out of the Cobra Twist and then hit the Spear to pin KANON. The two will be facing each other again in a 6-Man Tag Match. KANON swears he will get revenge and win back the Shield from Iino, otherwise his plan with the Shield will have completely fallen apart!

There was a gross moment in Match #5 when MAO caused Fuminori Abe to vomit a little bit after giving him a Thrust Kick to the stomach. After the match MAO told Abe not to vomit again while Abe tried to act like it was nothing to be embarrassed about. In fact, Abe thinks he did something amazing and promised to eat a bowl of katsudon before tomorrow’s DDT Universal Title match so his vomit will be even filthier! Backstage MAO said he understands the strength of a person who has just been humiliated so he knows he is in for a fight to defend his title tomorrow.

In what could be the last time Jun Akiyama and Makoto Oishi face each other one on one, Akiyama made sure to use the upgraded version of his finisher to win. He said he wanted to use the Exploder Suplex that hurts more than usual just for the ocassion. Oishi hopes there will be another chance for them to have a singles match again in the future. If it does happen, he’ll promise to break Akiyama’s knee with the Fujiyama Knee Lock this time. Akiyama said that won’t work because he’ll just beat Oishi in under five minutes.

Tetsuya Endo is feeling confident heading into tomorrow’s KO-D Openweight Title Match. He got the win for BURNING in a tag bout today. Now all there is left to do is face Shinya Aoki, overcome his own weaknesses and beat him to become the KO-D Champion for a fourth time.

There were complaints from the wrestlers in the opening match about a bad smell coming from Danshoku Dieno. He had eaten gyoza filled with extra garlic before the show and everyone else had to deal with his, um, side effects. Toru Owashi got the worst of it by getting his face shoved into Dieno’s Hell Gate. The smell was so bad he had to give up! Dieno won Owashi’s Right To Challenge Shield but he is conflicted over it. His goal to remain as the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion for one year has now gotten more difficult because the Shield makes him even more of a target than before! Plus if he does cash in the title shot and loses, he will lose the Iron Man Title too.

8. NOAH Vs DDT Battle: Katsuhiko Nakajima, Atsushi Kotoge & Yoshiki Inamura Vs Tetsuya Endo, Jun Akiyama & Kazusada Higuchi

Yeah this is the match where Katsuhiko Nakajima knocked out Tetsuya Endo with a slap across the face that left him with a concussion. The injury caused Endo to vacate the KO-D Openweight Title at the time. DDT is really leaning into this story to build up Endo’s title match with Shinya Aoki this weekend.

The main event has more going on for it after yesterday’s show. Makoto Oishi lost to Shinya Aoki while Tetsuya Endo watched from a distance. Oishi hopes learned at least something from it that he can use in this weekend’s KO-D Openweight Title match with Aoki. A few days later Endo and Oishi will face each other for Endo’s homecoming match. It’s a match that already means a lot to both of them and it could mean a little more if Endo goes into it as the new KO-D Champion.

Yamashita will be without Maki Itoh because Itoh will be back in America for GCW by that point. Kaya Toribami is going to be Yamashita’s partner instead.

Nice to see Aja Kong and Raku be put together as a team again.

Also missing the show due to overseas obligations are Shoko Nakajima and Yuki Kamifuku. Nakajima will be in America that weekend on a Deadlock Pro show while Kamifuku is busy defending the Queen Of Asia Title in China for Middle Kingdom Wrestling.

5. Special Single Match: Shinya Aoki Vs Yuya Koroku
6. Special Single Match: Chris Brookes Vs Danshoku Dieno

One of Noriyuki Yoshida’s matches for DDT’s weekend in Sapporo has him teaming with Jun Akiyama again. It’s pretty much an annual tradition at this point given the old NOAH connection between the two.

Some of the undercard matches have been changed around. The trio of Tomoya, Akito & Kazuki Hirata are no longer facing DAMNATION T.A. Their new opponents are Endo, Yuki Iino & Oishi. The DAMNATION T.A change is because MJ Paul is no longer on the card. He was pulled from yesterday’s meet and greet after suffering food poisoning. Apparently he’s been eating too much raw meat from the wild animals he hunts down.
