Both Yukio Naya and Yusuke Okada were recently identified as close contacts with Covid and have to pull out of tomorrow’s show. Neither have shown any illness but will both stay home to avoid any possible spread of the virus. Changes are made to the card because of this. Yuya Koroku no longer has a singles match (Okada was his original opponent), instead he will replace Naya in what is now Match #2.

On New Year’s Eve Ryota Nakatsu won a Battle Royal to determine the No. 1 Contender of the Union MAX Title. Since he is already the champion his reward was to choose his next opponent. He picked Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, the person he last eliminated to win the Battle Royal.

The first IRON FIST Tag Champions have a chance to reclaim the belts. Look BASARA is a small promotion they can only cycle through the same teams for title matches over and over. IRON PRIEST lost the titles to Speed Of Sounds the first time around too. So maybe winning them back will bring some closure to the rivalry on their end.

Official TJPW Best Matches Of 2021

Over the holidays Tokyo Joshi Pro asked the fans to vote on Twitter for the best TJPW matches of 2021. Every voter was allowed to choose three matches with points awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. 280 fans cast their vote which is nearly double the amount from last year. 115 matches had gotten votes overall but only the highest ranking matches will be featured in the upcoming “BEST OF TJPW 2021” DVD release (previous DVDs had either the Top 8 or Top 9 matches). A few matches in the Top 20 were tied with the same amount of votes.

2. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi defeated Pom Harajuku with a Cross Armbreaker (10:26).
3. Hardcore Match: Hikari Noa defeated Nao Kakuta with the Blizzard Suplex onto a Chair (17:14).
4. MagiRabi Vs TropicaWild: Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki defeated SAKI & Yuna Mizumori when Mizuki pinned Mizumori with the Diving Foot Stomp (17:35).

Inspiration is back for its third go around. This time it was The Magical Sugar Rabbits getting to explore outside the realms of Tokyo Joshi Pro for opponents. They defeated the TropicaWild team of SAKI & Yuna Mizumori. It was a reunion for Mizuki and SAKI because they started wrestling together as a team called Buribato♡. They hadn’t been in the ring together for the last four years until today. Yuka Sakazaki described the match as amazing and she felt it had the energy of a championship defence. SAKI also had fun with the match while Mizumori will never forgive herself if she never gets to wrestle MagiRabi again.

In a very rare sight the TJPW mat saw bloodshed when Hikari Noa and Nao Kakuta fought in a Hardcore Match. Noa was busted open midway through in a match where ladders, chairs, CDs and glow sticks were all used as weapons. But Noa toughed it out in her second ever Hardcore match and had her arm raised in victory at the end. Kakuta also expressed an interest in doing more hardcore matches but next time she wants to be teaming with Noa.

The match before that could not have been any more different. Pom Harajuku and Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi spent just as much time in the ring singing, dancing and meditating than they did wrestle each other. Playtime was cut off when Hiroshi threw Harajuku to the mat and locked in a Cross Armbreaker to submit her. Hiroshi still praised her and described her as a very strong martial artist.

The opening match was familiar fare for TJPW. Although it was a first time ever singles match between Mahiro Kiryu and Haruna Neko.

So she is now helping Manase bring that fire back and finally get a win against Yuu Yamagata & HARUKAZE. Yamagata does not know who Akai is but welcomes her participation in the match.

Match 2 for YuuRI’s trial series is against another big name on the joshi scene, Maya Yukihi.

Moeka Haruhi will be on the show. Storyline wise she’s come across as the odd woman out on the Ganbare☆Joshi events so far.

The Ganbare☆Climax moves on to Round 2. Shinichiro Tominaga eliminating Keisuke Ishii was the big surprise in Round 1. Can he get a Cinderella run going by defeating the last tournament winner Yumehito Imanari? Meanwhile Tetsuhiro Kuroda and Mizuki Watase get their first matches in the bracket. Kuroda is seen as a god by Ken Ohka because he was nice to him back in Ohka’s rookie days. Watase is as motivated as he has ever been to go far and grab some success in the ring.

Soma Takao has been hanging around at Ganbare☆Pro recently to show support for the other wrestlers in his generation. After being by Shota’s side at the last show, Takao was invited to wrestle on a Ganpro show for the first time.

Also at the show will be Shinjiro Otani. He is now the on-site director for Ganpro.

The Magical Sugar Rabbits are handed a tough first defence. 121000000 are a united front in the aftermath to the “WRESTLE PRINCESS II” main event. I think. They’re bickering over whether or not Miyu Yamashita really cares about Maki Itoh. It’s the opposite to Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki. Those two with the Princess Tag Titles have in the past been the most unbeatable duo in TJPW. 121000000 need to get their heads together (perhaps literally) if they want to win the belts.

Ryota Nakatsu is now a two time Union MAX Champion after beating Takumi Tsukamoto. There was a High Kick in the match that Tsukamoto said blew away all of the memories he had since waking up this morning. The result gives the former champion mixed emotions. He is both extremely disappointed he lost and extremely happy to see Nakatsu as the champion again. He told Nakatsu to make good use of the MAX Title because he will win it back some day. Nakatsu wants to beat Tsukamoto’s reign of six defences so will aim to make seven. SAGAT came out and asked to be the first challenger. It will be Sparky Vs Sparky for the MAX Title!

Speed Of Sounds reclaims the IRON FIST Tag Titles from Astronauts! Teamwork was the key to this result. Tsutomu Oosugi praised his partner Banana Senga for being there at the right time, every time. He said if you ever want to win tag team championships, you have to have Senga as your tag partner. Over on the Astronauts side, Fuminori Abe & Takuya Nomura agreed that they lost because they wrestled more like two individuals instead of a team. However, Abe thinks Astronauts are still one of the top tag teams around. It’s up to them to start from the beginning again and improve each other as a team.

The UWA World 6-Man Tag Team Titles now belong to Toru Owashi, Shuji Kondo & Takuya Sugawara. It’s Aagan Iisou reunited! Owashi said the belts mean a lot to them because they were used by Toryumon and El Dorado when they were there. Aagan Iisou now claim management rights over the championship and where it will go next is up to them. Sugawara wrestled in BASARA for the first time and likes what he sees. He’s sure he will show up here again periodically. Owashi also praised Daiki Shimomura for how he has grown in BASARA. Isami Kodaka shares similar thoughts, feeling regret for Shimomura losing his title belt. He and Yuko Miyamoto were also happy to find out Minoru Fujita was in the venue to watch today’s show.

Yasu Urano carried the Fujita Pro Wrestling School flag to the ring for his entrance. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi moved around weirdly on his feet during the match and blamed it on gout. He later turned the match into a singing contest against Gouma.

The shaky mystery of who is behind the Lil Kraken mask is cracking even further. His tag partner Takato Nakano accidentally shouted out “Tetsuo!” when he reached out for a tag during the match.

Takeshita wants his rivalry with Brookes to be the peak for this era of DDT, just like Kota Ibushi Vs Kenny Omega was for a previous era.

DDT is collaborating with “Record Of Ragnarok” for a special match. The series is about Humanity fighting for its very survival in a deadly fighting tournament against Gods. It has a manga, a Netflix produced anime and will soon launch a live action stage show. One team led by Daisuke Sekimoto will represent the Gods from the anime and will wrestle in special costumes made for the match. If that’s not enough, Riki Choshu will also be there to provide special guest commentary.

Two more title matches are now official. NEO Biishiki-gun have still shown interest in getting Mizuki to join them. She refuses and along with Yuka Sakazaki wants to regain the Princess Tag Team Titles.

Yuki Aino bounced back from her clean loss to Miyu Yamashita by pinning Hikari Noa in a tag match. With her recent record against champions, Aino has enough claim to challenge for the International Princess Title. Noa isn’t afraid to take the match to dangerous levels in order to keep the belt over her shoulder.

Now comes the tough job, beating NEO Biishiki-gun. They did it once before in February but NEO Biishiki-gun got their win back in the Max Heart Tournament final a month later. Time for the rubber match!

Now 20 years old, Marika Kobashi is challenging for her first singles title to prove she has grown up. There is some jealousy behind the move because she didn’t like seeing Hikari Noa win the IP Title before she did.
