Over the last few days Yuki Ueno continued testing negative for covid and his fever ended up being diagnosed with gastroenteritis. He has now recovered from it and was able to perform on the second Hiragana Muscle show today. That means he is cleared to wrestle tomorrow too.

Takeshita To AEW, Endo 10th Anniversary, Saiki Announces Retirement

It was revealed yesterday that Konosuke Takeshita is travelling to America to wrestle for AEW next month. He wrestled three matches for them in Jacksonville last year and it only motivated him to come back even bigger. His goal this time is to wrestle on TV shows like Dynamite and Rampage as well as to become a champion against the high level of competition AEW has. His stay will last a lot longer with no return date planned at the moment. He claims he won’t be using a return ticket, he only has an outbound flight in his itinerary. Although he promised he will find a way to come back to DDT for big matches every now and then. He said he is grateful to both DDT and AEW for giving him this opportunity. Takeshita is promoting this as Chapter 2 of his wrestling career.

Arisuzu aren’t shy about showing off their bond and think it is strong enough to dethrone The Magical Sugar Rabbits. The Princess Tag Team Champions are using their reign to show TJPW a whole new world filled with glitter and sparkles but they warn their challengers there is so much more to them than that.

It’s been a year and a half since Saki Akai was last in TJPW. She pops by again to team with Yuki Arai.

Can’t ask for a tougher second match for Juria Nagano. It’s Karate versus Karate when she has to take on Miyu Yamashita.

This will be Marika Kobashi’s last match in Korakuen Hall.

El Unicorn returns after missing the Sumo Hall show with covid. He and Ilusion still have their rivalry building up. It is fitting to see that mixed together with the Toui Kojima and Yuya Koroku feud.

With Takeshita taking a leave of absence to go wrestling in AEW soon, Yuki Ueno is looking to pick up the torch and be the man to carry DDT into the future instead of Endo. It will be the first defence of the new KO-D Openweight Title belt too.

MAO is also showing a desire to wrestle abroad again and he wants the DDT Universal Title to help him do it. He challenged anyone with an international presence to face him in a title match. Asuka accepted the challenge, pointing out a recent tour of Italy and an upcoming tour of the UK as suitable qualifications to get the title shot.

The bad blood between Saki Akai and Maya Yukihi has all been washed away but they are still going to be fierce opponents even though Yukihi requested to team up with Akai. She also has to deal with Antonio Honda for the first time ever. At the time of writing, Honda is today the latest Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion.

Footage of Honda winning the Iron Man Title has appeared online. The champion Lingling somehow lost the title to an apple during the filming of a CyberFight talk show on ABEMA. She was challenged to crush the apple with her bare hand but she couldn’t do it. When she told the referee she gave up, he took her words literally and declared the apple as the new champion. Honda then walked in and fought the apple, narrowly pinning it after a close fight to take the title.

Both Shuichiro Katsumura and HARUKAZE were celebrating their homecoming matches today and both came out of the show with victories. In the main event, Katsumura gathered together wrestlers representing his Team Reversal Gym Yokohama Grand Slam. After winning the match, Katsumura told everyone this is Ganbare☆Pro’s first show in Yokohama. For many fans here it is their first time seeing Ganpro and maybe even pro wrestling. He doesn’t know what will happen next with Ganpro but he hopes they will come back to his hometown.

A public contract signing for the Spirit Of Ganbare Title match on 27th February took place before today’s show. Kouki Iwasaki said he is physically and mentally ready to crush Tatsuhito Takaiwa’s chest in with his kicks. His goal is to win the title in the main event of Korakuen Hall and defend it at “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2022” in June. Otherwise there is no future in Ganpro if Takaiwa remains the champion until that show. Takaiwa said at 50 years old he is celebrating 30 years in pro wrestling this year. He believes Iwasaki will be the champion some day and it is up to himself as the first champion to show him what it is like. Later in the show Takaiwa & 5th Black Tiger beat Iwasaki & Mizuki Watase in a tag match. Takaiwa feels reinvigorated wrestling these matches and is making the most of them.

HARUKAZE’s homecoming was twice as special because today is also her birthday! It is such a special occasion that her mother came to see her wrestle. Her team originally won their match in 5 seconds when Shota immediately pinned Shinichiro Tominaga. Both sides agreed to an immediate rematch where HARUKAZE got to properly earn the victory by pinning YuuRI. After the match Ken Ohka and Shinjiro Otani brought out a birthday cake for her and everyone celebrated. HARUKAZE told everyone when she started wrestling her mother would tell her to stop everyday. Today she got to see her daughter be a winner, which made HARUKAZE very happy.

4. Hyper Misao, Nodoka Tenma & Yuki Aino defeated Rika Tatsumi, Miu Watanabe & Mahiro Kiryu when Tenma pinned Kiryu with the Killswitch (13:14).
5. Miyu Yamashita defeated Marika Kobashi with the Attitude Adjustment (10:09).

The homecoming show was important for Marika Kobashi. Today is the last time she wrestled in Yokohama before her graduation from Tokyo Joshi Pro this April. There were several times in Kobashi’s career when she was given a big match against Miyu Yamashita before she took an absence from pro wrestling. It happened in 2016 when she was ready to enter high school and 2019 when she was ready to enter university. So there was no other choice for her opponent today.

In the match itself Kobashi tried using the Run-Up Bulldog Headlock, the Front Neck Lock and also the Diving Chop inspired by one of her namesake’s Abdullah Kobayashi. But Yamashita ended up winning once she hit the Skull Kick and followed up with the Attitude Adjustment. She praised Kobashi for growing up and said it inspired herself to do her best today too. Kobashi said she loves TJPW but it breaks her heart that she was never good enough to beat Yamashita. However today has lit a fire beneath her and she will spend her last two months in wrestling stirring up TJPW. She ended the show by shouting “I love you! Gyau!”

A bunch of covid positives is throwing this weekend’s lineups out of whack. Tokyo Joshi Pro is missing Yuki Kamifuku, Hikari Noa, Moka Miyamoto and Maki Itoh. Kamifuku, Noa and Miyamoto all tested positive while Itoh was identified as a close contact. This prompted the rest of the roster to take fresh PCR tests and they have since all come back negative.

CDK’s next league match is scheduled for 14th February so Takanashi could be cleared in time for that.

Itoh will be able to return at the 11th February Korakuen Hall show and Kamifuku is aiming to be cleared in time to be on the show too. So for the moment their International Princess Title match is still on the schedule. However the match will get called off if Kamifuku’s condition does not improve by then. The timing of Noa and Miyamoto getting their positive results back might prevent them from being on the show depending on when they started their isolation periods. The easy solution if they can’t show up is to replace Noa with Miyamoto’s opponent Arisu Endo and just do six matches instead of seven.

Danshoku Dieno believes Aoki came up with the stipulation because a greased up body is difficult to grab. In reality, Aoki picked the match because he wants Yumiko Hotta to be his attendant and rub his body down.

The two strongest teams in TJPW right now seem to be Daydream and The Bakuretsu Sisters. They both reached the Max Heart Tournament final and the time is coming to see which side is better. There have been two previous matches between the teams and the Princess Tag Team Titles were on the line both times. Daydream won the first one and the Sisters won the second time. This will be the definitive rubber match given how Nodoka Tenma’s wrestling career is nearing its end. Yuki Aino thinks this match is their destiny. She still wants to wrestle with her sister which she thinks is one of the reasons why they were so successful in this tournament. However Miu Watanabe believes Daydream is now at their strongest. Rika Tatsumi is looking ahead to the winners most likely getting the next Princess Tag Titles shot against The Magical Sugar Rabbits.

When Yuki Kamifuku pinned Maki Itoh earlier in the tournament, Itoh kept her temper knowing that Kamifuku would become a potential challenger for the International Princess Title. Her instinct was proven correct and Kamifuku gets the title shot at Korakuen Hall. Itoh wants her current reign to surpass Kamifuku’s time with the belt so whatever feelings Kamifuku shows in the match, Itoh will give it back 100 times more. Kamifuku feels motivated after teaming with Asuka and thinks it will be a bad look for their friendship if she has nothing to show from working so hard. If she becomes champion again she wants to expand the Wrestle Universe audience across Asia, because America and Europe are already being catered to. Harsh words were also given when Kamifuku called herself the coolest in the world. Itoh said “Piss off you piece of shit” in response.

Two classmates born in 1998 will face off when Suzume takes on Yuki Arai in a first time singles match. Suzume has two years of extra experience in the ring but Arai is coming off of a super rookie year that’s been covered by the Japanese wrestling press across the board. While Suzume knows how popular Arai is, she remembers getting many votes herself to qualify for the IP Title No. 1 Contender Battle Royal last December (Suzume even beat Arai 210 votes to 199). Who gets attention doesn’t bother her, she just wants to win against Arai in a match between two TJPW wrestlers.

Wrestlers from DDT’s past will come to Sumo Hall to celebrate the company’s 25th Anniversary. The rumored AEW name turned out to be Michael Nakazawa and he blatantly tried to make people think it would be Kenny Omega to get more attention. His long rivalry with Sanshiro Takagi gets revived for the big occasion.

The DDT Legend Army consists of DDT’s big players from the 2000s era of the company. Poison Sawada JULIE and his paranormal powers made him a force to be reckoned with in his prime. Takashi Sasaki is still going today, flying the flag for FREEDOMS over the last 12 years. His Aka Rangers tag partner GENTARO was a DDT mainstay from 2001-2003. The Suicide Boyz of MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba were the focal point of DDT’s tag division throughout the decade both together and in separate teams. Tying up the challenging team is Naomi Susan at ringside. She played a major role for DDT behind the scenes as the liaison for foreign wrestlers and was also the manager for Union Pro Wrestling.

Celebrity and former multiple DDT title holder LiLiCo wants to wrestle one more match before she calls time on her pro wrestling career. 2018 was the last time she wrestled in DDT and it will really make it worth her while if they can find her some handsome opponents for her farewell.

A press conference was held today to promote the DDT Universal Title match. Minoru Fujita said he has completely dominated the prelim matches against Daisuke Sasaki so all he has to do now is win the title match. If he does that then it will pave the way for his Fujita Pro Wrestling School to invade DDT and form a spinoff unit in the company. Sasaki (who was drinking) accused Fujita of lying about his poor health to throw him off guard. He then got mad when his mentor Dick Togo was brought up. Things calmed down and the two shook hands until Fujita kicked Sasaki in the groin. Sasaki wanted to get some kind of heat back so he gave Hisaya Imabayashi a Low Blow just because.

LiLiCo sent in a video message saying she will be at this show. There is something she wants to tell everyone but is keeping it secret until then. The celebrity wrestled for DDT several times from 2014 to 2018 and even held a few championships during her time here.

What will happen when Shinya Aoki’s madness is crossed with Yuki Iino’s sex appeal? Pheromones successfully “convinced” Imabayashi to give Iino a shot at the DDT Extreme Title. Iino is confident that he can do whatever match type or crazy rule Aoki comes up with.

Saki Akai is 2-1 over Maya Yukihi in their series of tag matches so far. The matches are getting more heated as Yukihi becomes more convinced that Akai is taunting her with her success in DDT. Meanwhile Akai is trying to get the message across that she got to where she is today with a lot of hard work.

DDT “SWEET DREAMS! 2022 TOUR IN YOKOHAMA”, 22/01/2022

1. 4 Way Match: Yuji Hino defeated Toru Owashi, Naomi Yoshimura and Kazuki Hirata when Hino pinned Hirata with a Lariat (10:40).
2. Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno & Yuki “Sexy” Iino Vs HARASHIMA & Akito ended in a No Contest (11:23).
3. Chris Brookes & Saki Akai defeated Soma Takao & Maya Yukihi when Akai pinned Yukihi with the Rookie Award (10:12).
4. Jun Akiyama & Antonio Honda defeated Yukio Naya & Yuki Ishida when Honda pinned Ishida with the Diving Fist Drop (11:30).
5. The 37KAMIINA Vs Eruption!: Yuki Ueno, Shunma Katsumata & MAO defeated Yukio Sakaguchi, Kazusada Higuchi & Hideki Okatani when Katsumata pinned Okatani after the Oretachi no MADMAX (13:52).
6. The 37KAMIINA Vs BURNING!: Tetsuya Endo & Yuya Koroku defeated Konosuke Takeshita & Toui Kojima by TKO when Koroku used the Chickenwing Armlock on Kojima (17:55).
7. DAMNATION T.A Vs Fujita Pro Wrestling School!: Minoru Fujita & Yasu Urano defeated Daisuke Sasaki & MJ Paul when Fujita pinned Sasaki with the Modified Tombstone Piledriver (21:52).

Minoru Fujita now holds two wins in a row over DAMNATION T.A, this time pinning Daisuke Sasaki himself with the Sayonara Tombstone. He also reminded Sasaki that he beat him in a singles match last July. Now all that is left to do is beat Sasaki one more time on 30th January and become the new DDT Universal Champion. Fujita cannot wait to be the veteran with poor health from a rotten indie to become a champion in a wonderful group called DDT! Sasaki in response says he has now seen everything Fujita is capable of and knows he can crush him at Korakuen Hall.

The rookies are trying to steal the spotlight from the main eventers! Yuya Koroku and Toui Kojima brought the fight to each other while Tetsuya Endo and Konosuke Takeshita cancelled each other out. Koroku’s targeting of the arm paid off when he trapped Kojima in a Chickenwing Armlock and wouldn’t let go. Kojima passed out forcing the ref to end the match and declare BURNING the winners. Endo praised Koroku for getting two straight wins over Kojima. Koroku said he isn’t satisfied and will practice more and more. Takeshita encouraged Kojima to keep fighting because he needs to get stronger. Kojima agreed and admitted to crying when he lost last time. This time there will be no tears unless they are tears of joy when Kojima finally beats Koroku!

After Eruption were defeated in Match #5, Yukio Sakaguchi approached Hideki Okatani. He handed his Eruption jacket over to him and said it was a gift for teaming with Kazusada Higuchi in his place. Okatani accepted the jacket and promised to keep fighting. Higuchi wants himself and Okatani to reach for the top in the Ultimate Tag League.

In a reversal of roles, Jun Akiyama tripped over the ropes and injured his knee instead of Antonio Honda. He told his own Gongitstune story to make up for it.

An early warmup match before the 25th Anniversary show in March saw Saki Akai get the pin on Maya Yukihi. A Flying Knee Strike from Chris Brookes set Yukihi up for the Rookie Award from Akai to end the match. Akai said she never knew about Yukihi’s attempt to enter DDT that happened around the same time she became a wrestler with the company. She wrestled the men because she didn’t want to be treated differently for being a woman. She made it this far and doesn’t want people to resent her for it. However, Yukihi thinks Akai purposely beat her with the Rookie Award today to rub her success in her face. Yukihi always wanted to win that category in the Tokyo Sports Awards, so it’s another example of Akai having the career that she wants.

Pheromones got their match thrown out again. At first HARASHIMA & Akito were able to handle them but once there was a ref bump, everything went out the window. Hisaya Imabayashi called off the match and demanded Pheromones to take the upcoming Ultimate Tag League seriously. Danshoku Dieno promised to agree on the condition that Yuki Iino will get a DDT Extreme Title match against Shinya Aoki. Imabayashi refused because Iino doesn’t have the track record to deserve the match. Pheromones tortured him until he finally gave in. Aoki versus Iino will take place on 14th February. Dieno wants wrestling to understand that winning is not the only thing with value.
