2. Noboribetsu City Councillor With 674 Votes In Mind (Affiliate, Newcomer) Tomoya Adachi Comes To Mars Gym!: Tomoya, Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi defeated Antonio Honda, Mike Rollins & Ricky Starks when Tomoya pinned Starks with a Headstand Backslide Pin (8:50).
3. Makoto Oishi & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Hiroshi Yamato & Yuki Iino when Iwasaki pinned Iino with the Vertical Drop Brainbuster (9:37).
4. Yukio Sakaguchi & Koji Yoshida defeated Tetsuya Endo & Nobuhiro Shimatani when Yoshida pinned Shimatani with the Emerald Flowsion (8:57).
5. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 2: Kazusada Higuchi defeated Masahiro Takanashi with the Doctor Bomb (7:12).
6. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 2: Soma Takao defeated Akito with the Reverse Gory Special Bomb (9:10).
7. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 2: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Naomi Yoshimura with the Caballo 2020 (14:46).
8. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 2: HARASHIMA defeated Daisuke Sasaki with the Somato (12:59).

We are now down to four in the King Of DDT and one of them is making a miraculous comeback. HARASHIMA won the opening match Battle Royal to re-enter the tournament then in the main event defeated Daisuke Sasaki to reach the semi-finals. Konosuke Takeshita used a new version of the Camel Clutch called the Caballo 2020 to beat Naomi Yoshimura by submission. Soma Takao continues to be unbeatable when he uses the Reverse Gory Special Bomb, this time getting the win over Akito. Last but not least Kazusada Higuchi beat Masahiro Takanashi in a match where Takanashi had none of his lookalikes around to help him.

The semi-final draw was held at the end to determine who faces who at Korakuen Hall on 19th May. Takeshita and Higuchi picked the blue balls out of the box while HARASHIMA and Takao grabbed the pink ones. So we’re getting Takeshita Vs Higuchi and HARASHIMA Vs Takao!

Yukio Sakaguchi and Tetsuya Endo spent a lot of time fighting each other in their tag match. Sakaguchi put Endo in a Sleeper Hold at ringside and kept him held there while Koji Yoshida hit the Emerald Flowsion on Nobuhiro Shimatani.

Tomoya gave a speech about his recent election into the Noboribetsu City Council. He said that back in 2012 a one year old infant in his region died from abuse. Ever since then he has wanted to stop bullying and abusive behaviour which led to him running for the city council. He thanked everyone for their continued support.

After intermission Sanshiro Takagi was asked when he would like to cash in his Right To Challenge Gauntlet for a KO-D Openweight Title match. He said he is 49 years old now but will be hiring a personal trainer so he can get back into the shape he was in 10 years ago. He probably won’t cash in his Gauntlet until he reaches that goal. Suddenly MAO and Yuki Ueno interrupted the interview and dared to set up an anal explosion inside the venue. Takagi stopped them by announcing he will defend his Gauntlet in a match that will include MAO and Ueno on 19th May.

DDT’s return to Sapporo on 5th and 6th October will be part of a co-sponsored series with Big Japan.

4. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1: Soma Takao defeated Mike Bailey with the Reverse Gory Special Bomb (10:08).
5. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1: Naomi Yoshimura defeated Kazuki Hirata with the Shonenba (9:42).
6. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1: Daisuke Sasaki defeated Yukio Sakaguchi with a Rope Assisted Pin (11:37).
7. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1: Masahiro Takanashi defeated MAO with a Backslide Pin (2:15).
8. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1: Akito defeated HARASHIMA with a Cradle (14:26).
9. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Yuki Ueno with a Zahi (20:45).

The King Of DDT 2019 first round saw seven wrestlers advance to Round 2. However hope is not all lost for those who were defeated today. The winners all met in the ring at the end of the show to face each other. However Masahiro Takanashi went missing and was instead represented by Baliyan Akki wearing the same clothes. Daisuke Sasaki carried a long bamboo stick with him while Naomi Yoshimura put his full attention on Konosuke Takeshita. When that was happening Tetsuya Endo came out wearing a full suit and using Nobuhiro Shimatani as a stepping stool to get in and out of the ring. Endo announced he will soon choose one of the seven “little fish” that lost today to defend the KO-D Openweight Title against on 2nd June.

The King Of DDT Round 2 matches are Kazusada Higuchi Vs Masahiro Takanashi, Soma Takao Vs Akito, Naomi Yoshimura Vs Konosuke Takeshita and Daisuke Sasaki Vs the winner of the Losers Battle Royal.

Friendships don’t matter in this tournament. Takeshita proved this after his match with Yuki Ueno. He looked like he was lifting Ueno back to his feet but instead Takeshita threw him out of the ring! Ueno got back into the ring and Takeshita offered a handshake but it was kicked away. Takeshita explained backstage that he was sending a message that he is still No. 1 in DDT. This is how strong his desire is to win. He is always driven but now he should be showing he is something to be feared.

HARASHIMA is entering a bit of a slump. He lost the DDT Extreme Title yesterday and today got eliminated in the 1st Round by Akito. Although Akito is happy with the win he is not convinced that he has surpassed HARASHIMA because he only pinned him with a cradle.

Masahiro Takanashi had to be at his trickiest to beat MAO. He grabbed a chair to distract Yukinori Matsui while Baliyan Akki entered the ring to attack MAO while disguised as Takanashi. MAO later did the Spaceman Plancha but Akki took the blow instead of Takanashi. Then Shota stepped up to the ring disguised as a fan to blow a party popper in MAO’s face. Takanashi used the distraction to pin MAO with a Backslide and advance to Round 2.

More cheating happened down the card as Daisuke Sasaki low blowed Yukio Sakaguchi en route to winning his match with his feet on the ropes.

Last year Kazuki Hirata began his miracle run in the tournament by beating Naomi Yoshimura. Sadly, this year is not going to be the same. This time around Yoshimura beat Hirata to avenge what happened a year ago. A lot has changed since that match. Hirata and Yoshimura are now on the same side in DISASTER BOX for example. They agreed to let bygones be bygones for the sake of their unit.

The Reverse Gory Special Bomb has immediately become a killer move for Soma Takao. In two days he has pinned both members of The Moonlight Express with it. He has learned the move in order to win the KO-D Title from Tetsuya Endo at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2019” in July. Today’s result was so easy for Takao he is acting like he didn’t even wrestle and he is advancing to Round 2 on a bye!

Memories of DNA were floating through the heads of Kazusada Higuchi and Kota Umeda as they fought each other. But just like back then Higuchi was the one with his arm raised at the end. He faced off with Akki at the end of the show thinking it was Takanashi. All he noticed was the guy he confronted looked more serious than drunk today.

Wait I thought yesterday was Keisuke Okuda’s farewell match. Oh well, here’s another one.

King Of DDT 2019

April 16, 2019

It’s a little early this year but the King Of DDT is back for its 2019 edition. This time around the prize is a KO-D Openweight Title shot at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2019” in Ota Ward Gymnasium on 15th July as well as 1,000,000 yen from the distributors of the DDT energy drink BLACK OUT. Only 14 wrestlers are taking part this year and the layout will be explained below. No newcomers, every entry has been in at least one previous King Of DDT tournament.

DDT “KING OF DDT 2019 1ST ROUND”, 29/04/2019
Tokyo Itabashi Green Hall

1. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1A: Kazusada Higuchi Vs Kota Umeda

6. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1F: Yuki Ueno Vs Konosuke Takeshita
7. King Of DDT 2019 – Round 1G: Daisuke Sasaki Vs Yukio Sakaguchi

Every match in the tournament has no time limit. The big match of note is the rematch of Round 1’s final bout from 2018, Kazuki Hirata against Naomi Yoshimura. Hirata was a last minute replacement and he defeated Yoshimura to start a miracle run in the 32 man tournament. Yuki Ueno Vs Konosuke Takeshita is a match between two friends and generational rivals. Akito against HARASHIMA may be a preview of a future DDT Extreme Title match since Akito is challenging for that belt in May. Mike Bailey and Soma Takao are currently clashing in the chaos that is the KO-D Tag Team Titles scene. Last one to keep an eye on is Kazusada Higuchi Vs Kota Umeda. Those two click as both opponents and tag partners.

The annual New Year’s tradition of a massive inter-promotional tournament in Korakuen Hall is back again. The teams all contained one Big Japan wrestler and one DDT wrestler although a few had an extra wrestler aiding them from ringside one way or another. Let’s get through this marathon.

Round 1

Muscle Wolf Vs Hama Ton
Antonio Honda was able to poke Daisuke Sekimoto in the eyes with Gongitsune but Yuki Iino was one step ahead and countered Honda with a nipple pinch when the attack was aimed at him. This is the point where Ryota Hama thinks his team lost the match. From there Sekimoto gave Honda an Atomic Drop and then submitted him with a Scorpion Deathlock. Jaki Numazawa was in Hama & Honda’s corner for the match. He blames himself for the team losing.

Bald & Blonde Vs ☆Team Nomura☆
Takuya Nomura came out dressed like Kazuki Hirata. The two were about to dance for their entrance when Yukio Sakaguchi immediately attacked Hirata. Nomura stood up to his opponents with his kicks but his momentum was purposely stopped by Hirata so he could tag in. Hirata’s knock out chop worked against Yuji Okabayashi although it took a few moments for it to take effect. Nomura & Hirata got to do their dance but unbeknownst to them, Okabayashi & Sakaguchi got up behind them also wearing Hirata Go glasses! The bald and blonde wrestlers beat up their opponents along to the music until Okabayashi submitted Hirata with the Argentine Backbreaker. Nomura said he doesn’t remember anything after he put on the glasses. He also never learned Hirata’s dance and blames that for the loss. On the bright side, Hirata thinks there are infinite possibilities for them together as a team. He hopes they work together again so he can harness that power to beat Sakaguchi!

Nishinari Elite Yankee Konosuke And Joshi Pro Wrestling’s Strongest Man Vs Toryumon Refugees
This year Yuko Miyamoto has been promoting himself as the strongest Joshi wrestler in Japan. In the opening round he was going to prove it by transforming himself into Shinobu Kandori! He entered to Kandori’s song “GET IT BACK” and wore an identical costume to hers. Maybe she would have found it funny but she was too busy losing her shit at a Brazilian She Hulk over at the RIZIN show during this time. Masahiro Takanashi and the Brahman Brothers also paid a tribute of their own to their mentor Ultimo Dragon by entering to his music. Brahman Shu was also wearing an Ultimo Dragon mask. The usual Brahmans plunder came out like their suitcase and bowling ball. Konosuke Takeshita threw the briefcase at Takanashi then handled the Brahmans while Miyamoto scrambled with Takanashi. Miyamoto rolled Takanashi into a Cross Armbreaker for the submission victory. He and Takanashi then gave the Brahmans a taste of their own medicine by doing the bowling ball spot on them. Backstage Takanashi & Brahman Kei begged Shu/Dragon for forgiveness. Kei/Dragon demanded they become Toryumon trainees againt and pay the tuition fees along with it.

Japan-US 4 Dimensional Combination Vs Team Let’s Go
Takayuki Ueki & Mike Bailey got along great, screaming “Let’s Go!” at everyone and each other for the entire match. Bailey was also wearing his own Ueki’s style shirt with his name on it. Sammy Guevara gave both of them the middle finger and The Great Kojika did the same later. Kojika got into a strike exchange with Bailey until Ueki snuck in a School Boy to pin him. Kojika enjoyed teaming with Guevara and wants to do it again next year. Guevara asked Kojika how old he was. Kojika said he was 60…

2nd Generation Party Boys Vs Cherry Boys On The Run
Tetsuya Endo wasn’t eager to team with Tatsuhiko Yoshino. He had to be encouraged down to the ring by Yoshino and Kota Sekifuda. During the match MAO put Endo in a Crab Hold and Endo couldn’t move. Sekifuda got into the ring and along with the audience taught Endo how to reach the ropes. Endo tried to follow the instructions but MAO dragged him back into the centre and Yoshino had to break up the hold. When Yoshino got tagged in the match became more cheeky when he pulled down the back of Yuya Aoki & MAO’s tights, exposing their backsides. Endo & Yoshino would end up having the back of their tights pulled back too. Aoki put an end to the match by backsliding Yoshino into a pin and bridging over on top of him for the pin. Endo told Yoshino he would be muting him on Twitter because of what happened.

Super Fighting Three Musketeers Vs Black Tri-Stars
This was weird. Daichi Hashimoto & Daisuke Sasaki came out doing a mashup act of The Three Musketeers: Daichi’s father Shinya Hashimoto, Masahiro Chono and Keiji Muto. They were supposed to fight Yoshihisa Uto & Sanshiro Takagi with Hideki Suzuki in their corner but they were nowhere to be found. Instead the Black Tri-Star Gundams appeared! They circled around Korakuen Hall until they finally attacked. Sasaki grabbed their cannon and struck them with it. Hashimoto then channeled Muto and his chronic knee pain to hit the Shining Wizard and win the match. The Black Tri-Stars fled but not before attacking Mita Sayoko at the commentary table along the way.

Team Katagi Vs MudNATION
Yasufumi Nakanoue carried a wooden sword to the ring and acted like Kazusada Higuchi’s mentor for the match. Nakanoue tried to strike Soma Takao with the sword but he moved and Higuchi took the blow. Minoru Fujita grabbed the sword and tried to attack Higuchi. Higuchi also moved out of the ring and Takao got hit. That allowed Higuchi to cradle Takao for the three count. Both Fujita & Takao said they couldn’t hear each other during the match and would have needed subtitles to communicate better.

Team A Line Vs Crazy Smile
Yuki Ueno got in the death match mood by dressing up like Ryuji Ito and asking for the match to be held under Hardcore rules. On the other side, Masashi Takeda wore one of HARASHIMA’s ring jackets for his entrance and wanted to wrestle a normal match. Chairs were brought into the ring anyway and were used a lot. Ueno didn’t hesitate to hit his DISASTER BOX leader HARASHIMA with a chair but that meant HARASHIMA also would not hold back when the roles were reversed. Takeda wasn’t able to hit the Reverse U-Crash, Ueno countered it into a Cradle for a nearfall. Takeda instead placed a chair on top of Ueno’s face then hit it with another chair to keep Ueno down for the pin count. Ito & Ueno admitted they did not communicate with each other much before the show. They only shared 4 or 5 direct messages with each other. If they team up again they promise to message each other more.

Round 2

Muscle Wolf Vs Bald & Blonde
Big lads collided a bunch to kick off the second round. In the dying seconds of the match Sakaguchi hit Iino with the God’s Right Knee to get the win. Iino thinks he pulled a muscle in his leg after doing the Spear. However he says he learned a lot teaming with Sekimoto and will use it to win the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles in DDT on 3rd January. Iino and Sekimoto also promised to keep in touch through DMs.

Nishinari Elite Yankee Konosuke And Joshi Pro Wrestling’s Strongest Man Vs Team Let’s Go
Ueki came up with the perfect plan to counter Miyamoto’s Shinobu Kandori tribute. He came out dressed as Aja Kong! Bailey also joined in by having his face painted like Kong’s. The Kandori Vs Kong match up was historically accurate until Ueki lost his temper and pulled out his gun. Ueki then crotched himself on the top rope and Miyamoto submitted him with a Heel Hold. Ueki admitted that Miyamoto really is the world’s strongest male Joshi wrestler.

Cherry Boys On The Run Vs Super Fighting Three Musketeers
Hashimoto continued the Muto tribute by putting Aoki in the Figure 4 Leg Lock. Sasaki was put in danger after MAO dove onto him. However Sasaki avoided Aoki’s Tiger Suplex and trapped him in the Cross Facelock. Aoki fought to reach the ropes but Sasaki rolled him back into the centre and made him tap out. MAO felt regretful because their elimination from the tournament means the Cherry Boys’ youth has come to an end and they now have to become adults. Maybe it’s not all bad though. MAO heard that a 23 year old’s sex drive is bigger than an 18 year old’s. So maybe he can still work hard when he reaches the ripe old age of 23…

Team Katagi Vs Crazy Smile
The first time limit draw of the show happened here. This time HARASHIMA got into Takeda’s state of mind by wearing Takeda’s entrance gear to the ring. He held Higuchi in place for Takeda to stick a bundle of bamboo skewers into his head. Higuchi then got revenge by sticking skewers in HARASHIMA’s head. They scrambled for a pin but the 10 minute time limit was reached. The match restarted with One Count Pinfall rules to determine the winners. Higuchi went for the Doctor Bomb but HARASHIMA countered it into a Jackknife for the one count victory. Backstage Higuchi took responsibility for the “scandal” of his team losing. He is blessed to have a “big brother” like Nakanoue looking over him. Nakanoue then told him the team was disbanded and he walked out of the room, leaving Higuchi all alone.

Semi Finals

Bald & Blonde Vs Super Fighting Three Musketeers
The semi final lottery paired Okabayashi & Sakaguchi against Hashimoto & Sasaki. Things kicked off literally with Sakaguchi and Hashimoto laying into each other with kicks. Okabayashi blasted Sasaki with a Lariat then added another Lariat with the God’s Right Knee to combo Hashimoto. Sakaguchi kicked Sasaki away while Okabayashi pinned Hashimoto with the Golem Splash. Sasaki blamed Hashimoto for drawing a Muto Kitty on his shirt instead of the Muto Bear. He then came up with an idea to go drink at Seiji Sakaguchi’s house. Hashimoto tried to follow him but he still had Muto’s knee pain to deal with.

Nishinari Elite Yankee Konosuke And Joshi Pro Wrestling’s Strongest Man Vs Crazy Smile
Miyamoto ditched the Shinobu Kandori jokes and wrestled as his normal self for the rest of the show. Takeshita also wore custom made Yankee gear to match with his tag partner. Another time limit draw happened this time with 15 minutes not being enough to get a result. Sudden death did not immediately begin because the draw happened minutes before 2018 ended and 2019 would begin. The locker room emptied out for the countdown and everyone celebrate the New Year! Overtime then began and HARASHIMA went for the Somato on Takeshita. Takeshita moved and HARASHIMA crashed into the corner. Miyamoto then hit a Somato to HARASHIMA from behind and Takeshita used a Rolling Leg Clutch to pin HARASHIMA for the one count! Takeda & HARASHIMA both had fun teaming together. Takeda was praised for the big success he is currently achieving. HARASHIMA hopes to reach a similar level in 2019. Takeda also talked about Abdullah Kobayashi who was originally supposed to team with HARASHIMA on this show before suffering a shoulder injury.

Sumo Hall Announcements

The first big news of 2019 is DDT and Big Japan announcing a Sumo Hall double header happening this November. DDT runs Sumo Hall on 3rd November and Big Japan has their show on the 4th. Both Sanshiro Takagi and Eiji Kosaka acted like they didn’t expect the other to make their announcement. Yukinori Matsui went ahead with setting up the ticket sales for both shows anyway. Both companies see the situation as friendly competition. They would like to make hundreds of millions of yen this year but may need something like a donation from Floyd Mayweather to make that happen.

Final

Bald & Blonde Vs Nishinari Elite Yankee Konosuke And Joshi Pro Wrestling’s Strongest Man
Is this definitely the first pro wrestling match of 2019 around the world? Let’s go with that until somebody says otherwise. With no time limit, a winner must be decided definitively. Takeshita got rid of Okabayashi with a German Suplex followed by a Somato from Miyamoto. Sakaguchi aimed the God’s Right Knee at Takeshita but it was blocked and turned into a Reverse Implant Driver. Takeshita ended the night by hitting the Fable on Sakaguchi to win the tournament! Takeshita thanked Miyamoto for helping him reach the final for the 4th year in a row. Miyamoto promised to get his own custom Takeshita gear to return the favour for Takeshita’s costume. Takeshita ended the show by saying both DDT and Big Japan will do their best not to lose against the larger pro wrestling companies this year. The Sumo Hall double header in November will show that.

Japan Indie Grand Prix Awards

There was a break after the 2nd Round for the Japan Indie Grand Prix Awards ceremony to be held. Masashi Takeda dominated the contest by winning the MVP award and being featured FOUR times in the Best Match category! He hopes to become a triple champion in 2019. Isami Kodaka wants to win Best Bout again in 2019 but this time as the match winner. El Lindaman accepted the Best Unit Award on behalf of #STRONGHEARTS. He said 2019 will be an important year not just for the unit but also OWE. He personally also wants to win another championship so he can be a double champion. Best Newcomer Syuuou Fujiwara couldn’t be at the show but he was able to send in a video message. In the message Fujiwara said he is upset that Mita Sayoko is being physically given the award instead of him. He threatened to come down to Samurai! TV studio to take it back. Time limit draws will be decided with Sudden Death One Count Pinfall rules. Today the teams were chosen at a special event open to members of both companies’s fan clubs. Not everyone involved in the tournament could appear but the majority commented on their teams.

Yasufumi Nakanoue said he is nervous because this is his first New Year’s Eve Wrestling show. Kazusada Higuchi calmed him down by saying it is an honour to team with him.

Takayuki Ueki introduced himself in English to Mike Bailey by calling himself “Police Man” and calling Bailey “Best Partner”. Their team name is TEAM LET’S GO.

Daisuke Sekimoto thinks it is fate for him to team with Yuki Iino.

Yoshihisa Uto wants to make the most out of his pairing with Sanshiro Takagi. He described Takagi as the strongest power in DDT.

Antonio Honda wanted to team with the biggest wrestler around so he’s happy to be with Ryota Hama. Together they will be the most conspicuous team in the tournament.

Abdullah Kobayashi & HARASHIMA are without any argument the most handsome combination that could have been made this year. However, HARASHIMA is concerned with the arm injury that Kobayashi recently suffered. Kobayashi says he will get consultation about it tomorrow and will train hard to be fit in time. He also suggested their team should be called Because I Love The Team.

Next year will be Ryuji Ito’s 20th year in pro wrestling so winning the tournament will be the perfect way to celebrate. Yuki Ueno feels a little out of his depth next to Ito and realises that he’s going to be in more tense matches than usual.

Tetsuya Endo wanted to team up with The Great Kojika again. Instead he gets Tatsuhiko Yoshino. Endo is fine with that because he and Yoshino wear similar looking clothes. Yoshino is hoping to get past the 1st round in the tournament for once.

Minoru Fujita wasn’t there so Soma Takao had to pose with a picture of him. Takao is thinking about inviting Fujita to join DAMNATION and replace Nobuhiro Shimatani as their temporary manager.

Daisuke Sasaki asked Daichi Hashimoto if they can lose their match as quick as possible because he wants to spend New Year’s Eve relaxing at home. Hashimoto refuses because he wants to win the tournament. Sasaki also wants to call their team The Three Musketeers but Hisaya Imabayashi quickly shut that idea down.

Masahiro Takanashi says his private life is a lot like being one of the Brahman Brothers. He thinks they will get along and work hard together because of that.

The Great Kojika & Sammy Guevara were both absent.

Takuya Nomura may dance with Kazuki Hirata during their matches. That’s all he knows about Hirata.

Yuji Okabayashi is 100% certain his team will win so Yukio Sakaguchi can go on a hangover fueled rampage through the tournament if he’d like.

Yuya Aoki & MAO quickly bonded over their young age. Youth is their weapon against the rest of the field!

Konosuke Takeshita wants to make it to the final for the fourth year in a row. He believes his team with Yuko Miyamoto is the best combination available.

D-King Grand Prix 2019 Schedule… In 2018

November 13, 2018

The D-Ou Grand Prix is back for a second go around. The first tournament held in January earlier this year was a successful concept for DDT. Even though the upcoming edition is labelled as the 2019 tournament, the first show will take place on 30th November and the rest takes place during December 2018. The reason for this is the winner of the D-Ou GP will get a KO-D Openweight Title shot at “JUDGEMENT 2019” on 17th February. If the tournament was to be held in January like the first one then there wouldn’t be much time left to set up and promote the Sumo Hall show coming out of it. The same format of two groups containing seven wrestlers each is being kept. Each block match has a 30 minute time limit, winners get 2 points and draws of any kind are worth 1 point. The final between the two block winners will have no time limit. In the case of a tie for 1st place in one of the blocks then the direct confrontation rule will be used. The results of the group match(es) between the tied wrestlers determines who advances to the final. If that also ends in a tie then a tiebreaker match will be held on the 30th December show before the final takes place.

6. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Tatsumi Fujinami, Antonio Honda & Yukio Sakaguchi defeated Kazusada Higuchi, Gota Ihashi & Yuki Ueno when Fujinami submitted Ihashi with the Dragon Sleeper (9:39).
7. King Of DDT 2018 – Final: Daisuke Sasaki defeated Tetsuya Endo with the Crossover Facelock (21:36).

Daisuke Sasaki is the winner of King Of DDT 2018! For the last three years DAMNATION has dominated the tournament and this year was the exclamation point because both Sasaki and last year’s winner Tetsuya Endo reached the final. Sasaki ordered Endo to lay down and take an easy pin at the beginning of the final but Endo kicked out at two and tried to steal the win from his leader. From there both men fought each other with the truest of intentions to win. Endo used the Yurikamome Hold that got him past the semi-final earlier but Sasaki reached the ropes. Endo surprised everyone by countering the Crossface into a Paulie Buster! Sasaki took everything that Endo could throw at him and wouldn’t be beaten. He blocked the Tetsuya In The Sky With Diamonds and on the turnbuckles and turned the move into an Avalanche Pedigree! From there, Sasaki locked in the Crossover Facelock and made Endo submit.

Sasaki’s prize is 1,000,000 yen and a year’s worth of BLACK OUT energy drink. More importantly than that he now gets the main even KO-D Openweight Title match at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2018”! Sasaki called Endo strong then asked him who is stronger? Endo admitted it’s Daisuke Sasaki. With the next KO-D Title match taking place on Tuesday, Sasaki said he doesn’t care if the champion is Danshoku Dieno or Meiko Satomura. He will take the championship from either of them at Sumo Hall! When Sasaki was done speaking, Nobuhiro Shimatani excitedly tried to rally the fans to support the 2018 King Of DDT, “Charisma” Daisuke Sasaki! He was then cut off with a Low Blow by Sasaki. When Sasaki wins the KO-D Title, he will not be crying like other people because he will always be angry. 2016. 2017. 2018. DAMNATION will always be on top!

Sasaki’s path to the final saw him overcome HARASHIMA in the semi-final by the skin of his teeth. He countered a Cross Armbreaker into a Crucifix Pin to steal the win away from HARASHIMA. Disappointed by the result, HARASHIMA assured himself that he will get a chance to become KO-D Champion again some day, it just won’t be at Sumo Hall in October.

Endo had to get past MAO in his semi-final and almost made a quick job of it when he hit the Tetsuya In The Sky early. Endo avoided the Cannonball 450 and rolled a Hurricanrana into the Yurikamome Hold to make MAO give up. For MAO the defeat gives him something to think about. He never thought he would lose to the man he pinned to win the KO-D Tag Team Titles a month ago.

The return of Tatsumi Fujinami to DDT turned out to be a big occasion for a few people. Yuki Ueno debuted new white gear with the words “Deltoid Biceps” on the front of the trunks and “Latissimus Dorsi Muscle” on the back. Gota Ihashi also got to step in the ring against one of the greats and prove he is worthy of being a pro wrestler. Although Fujinami defeated him, Fujinami liked what he saw. Fujinami then made a big promise for Ihashi. Next time he will bring Riki Choshu to him! In a backstage interview after the match Fujinami found it funny that he got to team with an Antonio and a Sakaguchi again. Antonio Honda even did the Enzuigiri as part of the finish.

Dieno came up with a sneaky tactic to get his team the win over RENEGADES. Dieno and Super Sasadango Machine switched costumes before the match with Sasadango using a towel to cover his head until the disguises were blown. Still, Dieno used the F5 on Jason Kincaid and then put Mizuki Watase in the Sol Naciente to make him submit. Normally Dieno would name that move the Homo Naciente but with his KO-D Title defence against Meiko Satomura coming up on Tuesday he’s calling it the Meiko Killer II! He now has two Meiko Killer moves with one more being kept secret.

After the match Shigehiro Irie grabbed the microphone and demanded Dieno’s attention. Irie isn’t worrying about regaining the KO-D Title for now. Instead he just wants a singles match with Dieno. Unfortunately for him Dieno had a surprise announcement to make. He resigned as DDT Producer yesterday. Now that he is KO-D Champion and has a spot in the Sumo Hall main event he no longer needs the Producer role. He can’t have a singles match with Irie because he no longer has the power to book it! A furious Irie hit Dieno with the Beast Bomber and then destroyed his shoulder with the Pentagon Jr. Armbreaker. Irie ranted backstage that he will kill Dieno!

Match #4 was a mess thanks to the Brahman Brothers. They threw eggs and buckets of water at everyone. Mike Bailey wore one of the buckets over his head and took over the Brahman’s usual bowling ball suitcase spot. Gorgeous Matsuno got involved in the match to help the Brahmans but got accidentally blinded by their ink spray. Mad Paulie took the ink and sprayed it in Masahiro Takanashi’s face so Soma Takao could win with the Gin And Tonic.

It’s back to business as usual for Kazuki Hirata. His dance entrance was stopped by everyone else in the match attacking him. Then all of the ringside attendants attacked him. Then all of the DDT staff attacked him. Then the Don Quijote mascot who was there for sponsorship reasons waddled into the ring and attacked him. Later in the match Gorgeous Matsuno tried to sing until Akito Suplexed him mid-song. Everybody put on Hirata GO! glasses and started dancing until Matsuno sang again. Hirata then pinned Yuki Iino to end the match. Since today was T2Hide’s final match together, Hirata asked Sanshiro Takagi and Toru Owashi to dance with him one last time. The music began and Hirata danced while Takagi & Owashi both broke down into tears, hugged each other and left the ring ignoring Hirata.

Kouki Iwasaki survived the Standing Shooting Stars from Nobuhiro Shimatani to submit him with a Crab Hold.

The show began with big news that Jun Kasai will become a regular part of DDT shows beginning on 4th September! His first major match of this tenure will be on 23rd September at Korakuen Hall when Kasai teams up with Sabu and a mystery partner to face ALL OUT. Kasai wants to show DDT fans things they have never seen before. He also realises he will be a part of Konosuke Takeshita’s first match back from injury and warns that Takeshita might break again when they fight each other. Kasai finished the announcement by declaring his entry into the Dramatic General Election.

A big match was announced for “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2018”. I mean literally because the match is Super Sasadango Machine Vs Andreza Giant Panda! Sasadango informed everyone that this panda eats 40kg of bamboo a day and it puts bamboo at risk of becoming endangered. He promises to crush Andreza when they clash!

3. Danshoku Dieno, Makoto Oishi & Super Sasadango Machine defeated KUDO, Masahiro Takanashi & Gorgeous Matsuno when Dieno submitted Matsuno with the Meiko Killer III (7:43).
4. Special Tag Match: Shigehiro Irie & Taiyo Kea defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Antonio Honda when Irie pinned Honda with the Beast Bomber (12:47).
5. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final: MAO defeated Mike Bailey with the Cannonball 450 (11:33).
6. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final: Tetsuya Endo defeated Kazuki Hirata with the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb (12:22).
7. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final: HARASHIMA defeated Yukio Sakaguchi with the Somato (14:59).
8. King Of DDT 2018 – Quarter Final: Daisuke Sasaki defeated Keisuke Ishii with the Crossover Facelock (22:49).

We’re down to four in the King Of DDT. Tomorrow sees MAO, Tetsuya Endo, HARASHIMA and Daisuke Sasaki battle it out in the final rounds. But today they all went through some tough matches. In the main event Sasaki dug deep into his moveset to beat Keisuke Ishii. At one point he Superplexed Ishii out of the ring onto DAMNATION outside the ring. Sasaki kicked out of the Tiger Suplex, Final Cut and High Angle Double Arm DDT. In return, Sasaki avoided the Kneel Kick to hit the NOW OR NEVER. He then performed the Italian DDT from his Sasaki & Gabbana days before making Ishii submit to the Crossover Facelock.

HARASHIMA avoided the God’s Right Knee more often than not in his match against Yukio Sakaguchi. The vital moment came when he cut off Sakaguchi’s finisher with a short range Somato. HARASHIMA then hit the full length version to get the win.

The miracle run for Kazuki Hirata has ended at the Quarter Final stage. Endo made fun of him for being the underdog but Hirata really brought the fight to him. Hirata countered the Swivel Torture Rack Bomb by tightening his grip around Endo’s head so he could apply a Headlock. Endo tried to fight out of it with back drops but Hirata refused to let go until he could position himself for an Asai DDT out of nowhere. Hirata hit the Sliding Kick twice but still couldn’t get the pin so he went for the Viagra Driver. Endo blocked it and changed the course of the match by hitting the Handspring Kneel Kick and Tetsuya In The Sky for a nearfall. Endo finally put Hirata away with the Torture Rack Bomb.

In the match between KO-D Tag Team Champions, both Mike Bailey and MAO went high risk from the start. A lot of dives out of the ring didn’t slow either of them down until MAO won with the Cannonball 450. The two hugged afterwards.

It’s been a while since Taiyo Kea last wrestled in Japan. He remembers Shigehiro Irie but said he has turned into a different person from the last time they met. He thinks Irie is now a fairly strong wrestler with amazing power. Together they defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Antonio Honda but it wasn’t a dominant victory. Honda successfully pulled off his Gongitsune trick on Kea. He recovered and gave Honda the TKO before Irie finished him off with the Beast Bomber.

A still injured Danshoku Dieno had to change his battle plan today knowing that his right shoulder would definitely be targeted. Gorgeous Matsuno tried to make Dieno tap with a Cross Armbreaker but Dieno countered the move into an Indian Deathlock and Headscissors combo to make Matsuno give up. Dieno has now discovered a new effective wrestling hold that will surely come in handy soon, so he named it the Meiko Killer III.

Nobuhiro Shimatani was eager to throw his weight around now that he is mostly accepted into DAMNATION. Mad Paulie also got to throw him around too onto their opponents. That all stopped when Ryan Davidson struck Shimatani with a Lariat and pinned him with the Davidson Driver.

Sanshiro Takagi got to say goodbye to three wrestlers all leaving on their own separate journeys. With Kouki Iwasaki moving to Ganbare☆Wrestling, Daiki Shimomura moving to BASARA and Rekka going overseas (not back home to Taiwan as previously reported), Takagi felt like today was farewell. He hopes that all of them will grow and treat this as the first chapter of their new story. There is only one advice he can give to them and that’s for them to really do their best.

The list of current entries in this year’s Dramatic General Election was revealed during the show. Most of the regular roster is involved. Yumehito Imanari and Maki Itoh also volunteered to compete. Sanshiro Takagi, Shigehiro Irie, Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Mike Bailey all declined to enter the contest. Danshoku Dieno is undecided and has until tomorrow to make up his mind. DAMNATION, ALL OUT, Shuten-dōji and DISASTER BOX are the current units involved with the deadline also being for tomorrow.

10. King Of DDT 2018 – Round 2: Daisuke Sasaki defeated Antonio Honda with La Mistica Cross Facelock (18:53).
11. King Of DDT 2018 – Round 2: Kazuki Hirata defeated Tanomusaku Toba with the Sliding Kick (8:20).

The King Of DDT has been whittled down to the final eight. Kazuki Hirata’s miracle run continues with a victory over Tanomusaku Toba in the main event. There was no Gongitsune to be seen as Antonio Honda lose to Daisuke Sasaki in a close bout. Tetsuya Endo put Kazusada Higuchi through a table with the Firebird Splash in the crowd on route to winning his match. Yukio Sakaguchi sent Soma Takao into unconsciousness with the Cobra Clutch. Mike Bailey escaped a Stretch Muffler from Shunma Katsumata and struck a Buzzsaw Kick for the three count. Keisuke Ishii survived a European Clutch to pin Akito with the Double Arm DDT.

For the match between Masahiro Takanashi and MAO, there were several traps laid by Takanashi to distract his opponent. First the match began with KUDO walking out dressed in Makoto Oishi’s NωA costume singing “Never Give Up☆I LOVE YOU”. Later when MAO chased Takanashi out of the room. He reappeared dragging a person dressed like Takanashi into the ring but it turned out to be Chinsuke Nakamura! All of Takanashi’s distractions couldn’t get him the win though. MAO got the upper hand and hit the Chile Driver on Takanashi to advance.

Toru Owashi had his one major serious performance of the year against his former Disaster-BOX partner HARASHIMA but couldn’t get the win. Owashi felt like it was the last big match he had in him so he will go back to teaming with T2Hide in comedy matches.

The Quarter Final draw took place at the end of the show. The matches taking place at Korakuen Hall on 25th August are Bailey Vs MAO, Endo Vs Hirata, HARASHIMA Vs Sakaguchi and Sasaki Vs Ishii. Hirata closed out the show by dancing to “TOKYO GO”.

Danshoku Dieno booked Yuni on the show today and told him that the summer break is enough time for him to grow up into an adult. Nobuhiro Shimatani swore he would protect Yuni but that was a difficult task with Dieno involved. Yuni got the upper hand when he gave both Dieno and Oishi the Kancho. Yuni also tried to defend Shimatani but he ended up getting the Lip Lock from Dieno. Dieno then pinned Shimatani with the Danshoku Driver.

Continuing on from yesterday’s show, Tomomitsu Matsunaga drank even more beer during his match. He even got Naomi Yoshimura and Mad Paulie to get involved while they wrestled each other.

16. King Of DDT 2018 – Round 1: Kazuki Hirata defeated Naomi Yoshimura with a Power Bomb Switchback (8:59).

The biggest King Of DDT tournament ever kicked off with 16 1st Round matches in one evening. Kazuki Hirata scored an upset win in the main event by beating Naomi Yoshimura. He countered Yoshimura’s Shonenba into a DDT then turned the Throwaway Power Bomb into a Cradle for the three count. Hirata called Yoshimura scary but Hirata has fought wrestlers like Yukio Sakaguchi who are 100 times more scary. Hirata got to dance to “TOKYO GO!” in full to celebrate his victory.

Today’s show aired on AbemaTV in place of the usual “DDT LIVE! MAJI MANJI” episode that takes place on Tuesdays. That meant everybody was treated to the recurring Kazusada Higuchi table spot! Higuchi and Tomomitsu Matsunaga brawled around the room and had a chop battle on one of the Shinjuku FACE bar counters. A table was positioned below and Higuchi tried to Power Bomb Matsunaga through it. Instead Matsunaga Back Body Dropped Higuchi into the table. Matsunaga came close to victory with the Back Drop but Higuchi recovered and got the win with the Doctor Bomb. Higuchi thanked Matsunaga for handling his all of the power he gained from sumo today. He asked to shake Matsunaga’s hand but Matsunaga wanted them to drink beer instead.

Saki Akai came real close to beating her friend Masahiro Takanashi but a rollover ended her chances. Akai hit Takanashi with the Rookie Award making an upset win seemed certain. When Akai went on top of Takanashi for the pin and leaned over to hook the leg, Takanashi trapped Akai in a Crucifix and rolled her onto her shoulders for the flash three count. Akai is the first woman to ever compete in King Of DDT. She originally thought she was never included because she was the only active female wrestler on the roster but now there are more women appearing in DDT she realises that is a bad excuse on her part.

Sanshiro Takagi and MAO used their match to prepare for DDT’s return of Campsite Pro Wrestling later this year. The two are becoming rivals over the new generation of Street Wrestling clashing with the old. Takagi brought out boxes of stuff to use as weapons while MAO appeared equipped to the gills with his own homemade weapons. Takagi convinced Yukinori Matsui to allow the weapon usage because of the 5 Count Rule. MAO also encouraged a lot of outside fighting away from the ring because he promised Matsui they would return to the ring at the 19 count. Lawn tables were smashed, plastic boxes were destroyed and bicycles were crashed around the room as the match progressed. The end came when MAO countered Takagi’s Sit Down Himawari Bomb into a Rolling Cradle for the pin. After the match a surprised Takagi realised how big of a mess they caused and worried about how long the AbemaTV broadcast will be delayed so the ring could be cleaned up. Takagi thanked MAO for the match and asked for a handshake but it was a ruse so Takagi could give him the Stunner. He told MAO that the Campsite Pro Wrestling show on 2nd September will be the deciding battle between them! MAO said Takagi is older than his mother but he is excited to see the scary Sanshiro Takagi coming back.

HARASHIMA praised Mad Paulie for a tough match. He squeezed Paulie’s hand while telling him how much fun he had with the challenge. Now HARASHIMA is looking forward to facing Toru Owashi in the 2nd Round because it is a Disaster-BOX reunion. When Owashi beat Mizuki Watase the match before (with the Diving Body Press he hasn’t done in years), Owashi simply said “HARASHIMA, I’m waiting” on the microphone.

The show opened up with an unexpected result when Akito defeated KUDO. Akito ducked the Buzzsaw Kick and put KUDO in an Anklelock. Akito then positioned himself on top of KUDO and pinned him for three. Akito said KUDO can now spend his time concentrating on his restaurant.

The 2nd Round matches on 4th August are Akito Vs Keisuke Ishii, Mike Bailey Vs Shunma Katsumata, Yukio Sakaguchi Vs Soma Takao, Toru Owashi Vs HARASHIMA, MAO Vs Masahiro Takanashi, Tetsuya Endo Vs Kazusada Higuchi, Antonio Honda Vs Daisuke Sasaki and Tanomusaku Toba Vs Kazuki Hirata.

Konosuke Takeshita greeted the audience at the start of the show. He revealed he dislocated his right shoulder at the Fukuyama show last Saturday and will be taking time off to recover. He does not need to go under surgery so he hopes to return in two to three months time. As a result of this the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles held by ALL OUT have been vacated.
