We can only wait and see what gets announced over the next couple of days. The next DDT show on the schedule is supposed to be “JUDGEMENT 2020 ~DDT 23RD ANNIVERSARY~” this Friday. For now it is still going to happen but who knows if a decision gets made to cancel it. DDT are still announcing card updates for the shows still on schedule even if it turns out to be a pointless exercise in hindsight.

The next Bakuha Koshien show will be held near Ken Ohka’s hometown. Atsushi Onita said Ohka’s father has been working hard at selling tickets for the show. If the event was to be cancelled because of the Coronavirus then it would do catastrophic damage to Mr. Ohka’s finances. So Onita wants this show to go ahead no matter what and they will fight as if they are trying to blow up Coronavirus itself! According to Ken Ohka, his father told him how proud he is for his child to grow up and become a pro wrestler.

Yukio Naya found the strongest tag partner around. Kazunari Murakami! This left Onita disappointed because his treatment of Naya up to now was meant to build Naya up in his image. Instead Naya has gone out and found an outlaw in Murakami to run wild through the tournament.

Chris Brookes always wanted to take part in an explosion death match but it was just a dream until he moved to Japan. He promises to blow up Shota’s head with the current blast baseball bat. At the last show Yumehito Imanari got to team with Onita so this time he is looking forward to fighting against him.

The one name sticking out like a sore thumb is Miyako Matsumoto. She doesn’t even want to take part in a Current Blast Match because she finds them scary. But courage can create miracles so she will take the risk and enter the tournament as Ohka’s tag partner.

Four teams will enter, one of them being the alliance between Atsushi Onita & Chris Brookes! Onita chose Brookes to be his tag partner after hearing he was a big fan of both himself and explosion death matches.

Ken Ohka, Yumehito Imanari and Yukio Naya will be on the show. Onita has said he will only wrestle Naya if they both make it to the tournament final.

3. Ganpro Special Tag Match: Keisuke Ishii & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Shuichiro Katsumura & Yumehito Imanari when Ishii pinned Imanari with the Double Arm Extreme Driver (13:53).
4. Special Single Match: Chris Brookes defeated Shinichiro Tominaga with the Praying Mantis Bomb (14:02).
5. Scramble Bunkhouse Street Fight 6-Man Tag Death Match: The Great Nita, Ken Ohka & Hiroaki Moriya defeated Kenichiro Arai, Guts Ishijima & Shota when Ohka pinned Shota with the Vertical Drop Brainbuster (17:05).

The return of The Great Nita saw him attack Shota with a sickle, blind him with the Poison Mist and put him through a table with a Piledriver. He also attacked Guts Ishijima with the remains of the table. Ken Ohka got rid of Kenichiro Arai with the Fire Spear while Hiroaki Moriya took out Ishijima with a Lariat. The finish came when Ohka pinned Shota with the Vertical Drop Brainbuster.

But that wasn’t the end. Nita attacked Yukio Naya at ringside after the match and left him in a bloody mess with his sickle. Nita then wandered away and banged the sickle against the ring post. Ohka promoted the next Bakuha Koshien show on 28th March. He mentioned Atsushi Onita being absent from today’s show and assured everyone he will be back at Bakuha Koshien. Nita then attacked Ohka with the sickle but he got away mostly unharmed.

The language barrier was a little difficult but Chris Brookes got the message across to Ohka that he wants to be part of the Bakuha Koshien show when he comes back to Japan. Brookes was a big FMW fan growing up and he could never do an explosion match in England. He not only wants to take part in the match, he also wants to fight against Onita! It might kill him. If it does, it could also get him on the cover of Shukan Puroresu.

The second match turned out to be a lot more dangerous than expected. Mizuki Watase missed a Missile Dropkick intended for Ultimate Spider Jr. and hit Miss Mongol by accident instead. Mongol fainted which sent Watase into a rage. He charged at Spider but got pinned with an Inverted Hurricanrana. After the match Spider told everyone he wanted the match to be safer. He placed a chair down at the entrance stage and sat down in protest over how careless the match turned out. The other wrestlers simply lifted up the chair with him still sitting on it and carried him out of the room.

A 10 bell tribute was given to the late Kendo Nagasaki before the main event.

There is a flu going around this week and it hit the Big Japan roster pretty hard. A number of wrestlers had to pull out of shows this week either due to the flu or high fevers. Ryuji Ito, Isami Kodaka, Ryota Hama, Brahman Shu, Orca Uto and Yuki Ishikawa are all out of the New Year’s Eve show. This means five teams had to be changed with one team entirely getting replaced. Due to other commitments of the legal kind, Atsushi Onita is unable to wrestle on this show. However he already went and gotten his replacement. He found The Great Nita wandering around the Indian Ocean and heard Nita wanted to celebrate the new year in Japan. So Onita invited him to visit and take his place in the main event. This will be the first wrestling match for The Great Nita since August 2017.

Yukio Naya met with Onita and asked if he could be part of the next Bakuha Koshien show on 28th March. Onita will consider it if Naya renames himself Taiho III after his grandfather Taiho Koki.

In the D-Ou Grand Prix, the final block match between HARASHIMA and Masato Tanaka ended in a time limit draw. Out of this result Tanaka qualified for the final and ended up winning the tournament. But he will not consider DDT fully conquered until he can beat HARASHIMA. The KO-D Openweight Champion feels the same and is putting the title on the line for the chance to beat Tanaka.

5. GanJo Vs DDT Wrestling Classroom Full Battle 6-Woman Tag Team Elimination Match: Moeka Haruhi, HARUKAZE & X Vs Cherry, Yuu & Banny Oikawa

Daisuke Kiso wanted the main event to definitively decided which team is better so he made it an Elimination Tag Match.

The 2 Count match was made to even the playing field between Moeka Haruhi and the less experienced Banny Oikawa.

Both HARUKAZE and Yuu will be wrestling in judo jackets because HARUKAZE wants the match to be entirely about grappling and groundwork.

The Count-Up Fall Match adds up the pinfall counts a wrestler makes. The first to reach their total count up to a predetermined number wins. Cherry’s opponent will be revealed on the day of the show. The mystery wrestler is hinted to be very beautiful and will also be a regular for Ganbare☆Wrestling in 2020.

Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie, Shota, Shuhei Washida and Shin Suzuki were all meant to be on the show but now they will not be there. Luckily a bunch of “joshi” replacements were quickly found.

One round left in the group stage of the D-Ou Grand Prix and it’s all to play for. In the A Block each of the three matches have repercussions for the top spot. For the five still alive they need more than just a win to reach the final. Let’s look at what they need.

Yuki Iino: Needs at least a draw and for Takeshita & Ishii to both not win. If either do win, Iino will lose the tiebreaker against them. If both lose, Iino can qualify with a draw because he wins tiebreakers against Endo & Brookes.

Keisuke Ishii: Needs to win and he will qualify regardless of the other results. He will beat any tiebreakers against Iino & Takeshita. If he gets a draw then he will need Iino to not win and Takeshita Vs Brookes to end in a draw.

Konosuke Takeshita: Needs to win and have Ishii lose. There is no possible tiebreaker he can win.

Tetsuya Endo: Needs to win, have Iino lose and Takeshita Vs Brookes end in a draw. He is still alive if Brookes beats Takeshita because of the draw they had. In that situation Endo Vs Brookes in a playoff decides who wins the block.

Chris Brookes: Needs to win, have Iino lose and Endo Vs Ishii end in a draw. That way his win over Ishii is the tiebreaker. As mentioned above, Brookes and Endo both winning creates a playoff between them unless Iino gets a point.

The B Block is simpler to work out but still has a risk of getting messy. Masato Tanaka only needs a draw to qualify. HARASHIMA needs to beat Tanaka and hope Daisuke Sasaki does not beat Naomi Yoshimura. However if HARASHIMA and Sasaki both win, we get a three way tie with the tiebreakers all cancelling each other. The Soma Takao Vs Yukio Sakaguchi match does not matter in this situation.

Now that she is a superhero again, Hyper Misao is taking time off to train at her local hyperbolic time chamber. Her return match will be against Shoko Nakajima on 4th January. It is fitting for a superhero’s first fight back to be against the Big Kaiju!

Saki Akai makes her annual appearance for Tokyo Joshi. Akai’s opponent is Yuki Kamifuku, who looks up to her not just as a wrestler but as a professional. Kamifuku thinks Akai is a good example of a joshi who can be both feminine and strong in the ring. She asked for this match to see if she can reach Akai’s level with her own style and beauty.

This is not the completed card. Tetsuya Koda is waiting to see if any inactive members of the roster will be ready in time before he sets everything in stone. Could an injured wrestler be close to full recovery?

Atsushi Onita also wants to find a way to bring the show over to Tampa next year for Wrestlemania week. Ken Ohka is so enthusiastic with the project that he asked Onita to co-promote a Ganbare☆Wrestling show with him next January. Onita agreed and Ganbare☆Onita Oya☆Pro Wrestling (Gan☆Nita☆Pro Wrestling for short) was born.

2. Bakuha Koshien Tournament – Round 1: FUMA defeated Yumehito Imanari with the Iron Maiden (8:04).
3. Keisuke Ishii & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Guts Ishijima & Shota when Ishii submitted Shota with the Double Arm Neck Lock (7:52).
4. Ayame Sasamura defeated Ami Kanda with a Cradle (7:59).
5. Bakuha Koshien Tournament Final – Current Blast 6-Man Tag Death Match: Atsushi Onita, Kenichiro Arai, Asuka & Yumehito Imanari defeated Sanshiro Takago, Shinya Aoki, FUMA & Yukio Naya when Onita pinned Naya with a Current Blast Bat Swing (10:27).

So much preparation went into today’s show. Sanshiro Takagi wanted four Current Blast baseball bats and Atsushi Onita demanded that the gunpowder within them be tripled so the explosions would be even more powerful than advertised. Asuka and FUMA won the qualifying matches to enter the main event but Onita then demanded that the losers Yukio Naya and Yumehito Imanari also be included in the match. This was the debut Bakuha Koshien show so Onita wanted to give everyone the chance to experience this match.

There was a switch on one of the corner posts that needed to be pressed when a wrestler wanted to use a Current Blast bat. The first explosion came when Takagi swung the bat at Onita in the corner. Imanari jumped in and took the blow, shielding Onita from the blast. Onita put FUMA through a table with a Piledriver but Shinya Aoki cut him off with a Sleeper Hold. Naya held onto Onita for Aoki to hit with a bat for the next explosion. Aoki put Kenichiro Arai in a Jumping Cross Armbreaker before turning his attention back to Onita. Suddenly Onita sprayed Aoki’s face with red Mist! Asuka then held Aoki for Onita to hit with an explosive bat. Onita used the Mist again this time to blind Naya. Asuka Moonsaulted onto Naya then Onita hit him once more with a blast bat, the biggest explosion yet before pinning him to win.

Onita did his usual kind of speech after the match before calling for Naya’s attention. Naya told him this wasn’t the end between them and he wanted to do another Current Blast match. Onita thanked the sponsors and gave his match prize to Naya. He then threw his water at everyone to close the show.

In his qualifying match, Imanari copied Onita’s famous entrance with the chair and cigarette from the 1999 Tokyo Dome match against Masahiro Chono.

Atsushi Onita demonstrated the power of the Current Blast to some of the wrestlers booked on the show. Yukio Naya, FUMA and Yumehito Imanari wanted to know what the blasts are like so Onita hit a pumpkin with a current blast baseball bat. Obviously the pumpkin did not survive. Even more scary is Onita told them the blasts will be twice as powerful on the show! He wants to use the most powerful explosions ever for a current blast death match!

A joshi match will be the last addition to the show.

The last time Magnitude Kishiwada was in Ganbare☆Wrestling was in March 2018. On that show he defeated Ken Ohka not once but twice when Ohka said he would fight him again and again until he could beat him. A long time has passed since then but they are going to lock horns once more, this time with Kouki Iwasaki and Shigehiro Irie also involved. Speaking of Iwasaki and Irie, those two have clashed several times in Ganpro this year so their interactions are something to look out for too.

Shinichiro Tominaga has gone down with the flu and cannot participate in the main event. Replacing him is Shin Suzuki, a friend of his who has a similar college club pro wrestling background.

A fight broke out between Ken Ohka and Takato Nakano at Wednesday’s press conference for Sumo Hall. When the participants for the UWA World 6-Man Tag Team Titles match got together, Urano bragged that Nakano could beat Ohka easily. Ohka took offence and challenged Nakano to a match. When it was accepted the two began fighting until Urano kicked Ohka with a Low Blow.

The four entries in the Bakuha Koshien tournament are now known. Asuka, Yukio Naya, FUMA and Yumehito Imanari have all thrown their names into the hat. Imanari remembers being a high school student when he first saw Atsushi Onita wrestle live. When he was about to take his exams he even contacted Onita for advice via e-mail and received a response. Imanari thanks both Onita and Takagi for making him a pro wrestler, one who will help build the new era of Current Blast death matches! Asuka has already done Hardcore and Death Match wrestling so she is looking forward to doing Current Blast matches. Naya says it has been half a year since he signed with DDT. He wants to break out of his shell and fight under his own will. FUMA was not around to give any comments.
