The identity of Chris Brookes’ tag partner on 3rd July will be revealed during tomorrow’s show. The clues so far are it is a foreign wrestler but, to my surprise, it is not somebody Brookes is already an acquaintance with. So that means it is not Drew Parker or a Kid Lykos or like 90% of the British wrestling scene for that matter. Brookes himself is trying to find out before the show takes place and is badgering Sanshiro Takagi online to at least send him a LINE message about it. Takagi has also said it is not Joey Janela making an early appearance, meaning it is a sign there are more foreign wrestlers coming to DDT this year.

6. KO-D Openweight Title – King Of DDT 2022 – Final: X Vs X
The four remaining wrestlers in King Of DDT gave their thoughts going into the final rounds. Yuki Ueno wants to use his skills to spread DDT across the world and this tournament is his chance to do that. Naomi Yoshimura credits his size advantage for getting through the first two rounds. He is also letting those results speak for themselves rather than fighting on behalf of the people he has defeated like the others. Kazusada Higuchi wants to win the vacant KO-D Openweight Title and become DDT’s symbol of strength while he waits for Tetsuya Endo to return. Jun Akiyama just said now is the time for DDT to show their strength and he will lead the charge.
TOKYO JOSHI PRO “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22”, 09/07/2022

8. Princess Tag Team Titles: Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki (c) Vs Saki Akai & Yuki Arai
9. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Rika Tatsumi
Rika Tatsumi is excited for her main event match because she gets to fight on the stage of her dreams. She wants to make Shoko Nakajima feel the same way and have a crazy match for the Princess Of Princess Title. Tatsumi is hoping to discover a side of herself she has never seen before. Nakajima senses TJPW is getting momentum and she wants to stay at the forefront of it. She can tell Tatsumi wants to be in the same position so she is really looking forward to the match.
A fresh new challenge has appeared for The Magical Sugar Rabbits, even if there is something vaguely familiar with it. I don’t know, I can’t help but feel like I’ve seen this scenario develop three times already… Yuka Sakazaki thinks the Princess Tag Team Titles are characterized by a wide variety of matches and Mizuki wants to make them even more valuable. Reiwa AA Cannon are fitting opponents for those reasons because it is two high profile women teaming together. Yuki Arai feels blessed to be surrounded by wonderful senpais and wants to make the most out of her opportunities. Winning the Tag Titles is not her ultimate goal in wrestling but is part of the process. Saki Akai thinks she needs to get to know Arai better because this will only be their third time teaming together. Their opponents have been strongly bonded together by friendship for years!

8. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Yumehito Imanari (c) Vs Ken Ohka
An unusual opening match has been added to the card. On paper it was 3 Vs 2 with Ganbare Tamagawa, Nobuhiro Shimatani & HARUKAZE on one side against Onryo & YuuRI. However Onryo & YuuRI will be joined by a third person. Munenori Sawa will be in their corner. He’s been officially retired from pro wrestling for years now but he’ll find some excuse to get physically involved in the match without breaking his commitment to stay retired.

5. Special Tag Match: MAO & Shunma Katsumata Vs Chris Brookes & X
6. KO-D Openweight Title – King Of DDT 2022 – Final: X Vs X
The King Of DDT final four are Kazusada Higuchi, Jun Akiyama, Yuki Ueno and Naomi Yoshimura. The semi-finals divide them into two existing rivalries. Higuchi and Akiyama put aside their past differences to work as a functional tag team at “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2022” but the premature ending to that match left that loose thread up in the air. Both have promised to become the KO-D Openweight Champion on behalf of Tetsuya Endo and carry on in his place while he is injured. Ueno and Yoshimura have become rivals since their tag team Nautilus split up. Yoshimura has beaten Ueno in all of their previous singles matches.
A mystery wrestler is teaming up with Chris Brookes to take on MAO & Shunma Katsumata? Who could it be? Maybe it’s a certain Welshman who Brookes and The 37KAMIINA have been in the ring with before. No, not CdawgVA!

The complete card for “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22” was revealed today. The Magical Sugar Rabbits have been challenged by Reiwa AA Cannon for the Princess Tag Team Titles. Special guests from AEW feature up and down the show with the big match being Thunder Rosa Vs Miyu Yamashita in a first time meeting. Riho pops up to team with Arisu Endo against Mei Suruga & Suzume. Previous opponents Hikaru Shida & Hikari Noa are now on the same team as they take on the newly renamed Toyo Mates. There is going to be so much joy and power on show when Miu Watanabe and Willow Nightingale are in the same ring together. Aja Kong has her first match back in Tokyo Joshi Pro since October. Karate meets Karate when Moka Miyamoto faces Juria Nagano.
A challenger has been found for Maki Itoh. Over in England this past weekend, Alex Windsor won the SHE-1 tournament in Pro Wrestling: EVE. During her victory speech, she called out Itoh and demanded a shot at the International Princess Title! Itoh received the message and accepted the challenge so Windsor will soon be on her way to Japan.
DDT “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2022”, 20/08/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium
1. Shinichiro Kawamatsu Debut Match: Shinichiro Kawamatsu Vs X
2. International Special Hardcore Match: Joey Janela Vs Shunma Katsumata
3. DDT Universal Title: Masahiro Takanashi (c) Vs X
4. KO-D Openweight Title: KO-D Champion (c) Vs X
The tycoon of America’s indie scene finally arrives in DDT! Joey Janela has long been sought after by Sanshiro Takagi going back to the Social Distancing match GCW held very early into the pandemic. He will be arriving in Japan a week earlier but his first confirmed match is taking place at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2022”. He takes on Katsumata in a Hardcore Match. Since Janela is nicknamed “The Bad Boy”, Katsumata is now calling himself “The Happy Boy”.
Shinichiro Kawamatsu is returning to DDT to have a proper debut pro wrestling match. The politician wasn’t satisfied with his previous wrestling match relying on his bodyguard only to get beaten into submission once he had to fight for himself. So he is finding time during his political duties to train for a proper match. He actively trains in Jiu Jitsu so he already has some martial arts experience to lean on.

DDT “KING OF DDT 2022 2ND ROUND”, 19/06/2022
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

0. Dark Match: Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno & Yumehito “Fantastic” Imanari defeated Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata when Dieno pinned Hirata with a Cradle (7:27).
1. DAMNATION T.A Vs Eruption!: MJ Paul & KANON Vs Yukio Sakaguchi & Hideki Okatani ended in a Double Countout (11:01).
2. THE KICKBOXING MATCH 2022: Hikaru Machida & Gota Ihashi defeated Shinya Aoki & Toi Kojima when Ihashi pinned Kojima with the Moonsault Press (R3 1:42).
3. MAO, Shunma Katsumata, Yusuke Okada & Yuya Koroku defeated Yuji Hino, Yukio Naya, Chris Brookes & Yuki Ishida when Katsumata pinned Ishida after the Oretachi no MADMAX (13:33).
4. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Kazusada Higuchi defeated Masahiro Takanashi with the Brain Claw Slam (4:41).
5. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Jun Akiyama defeated Yuki “Sexy” Iino with the Sexy Paradise Lock (11:34).
6. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Yuki Ueno defeated Daisuke Sasaki with the WR (12:49).
7. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Naomi Yoshimura defeated HARASHIMA with the Osaka Pride (19:24).

The King Of DDT moved over to Korakuen Hall for the 2nd Round. The top four matches of the show were all Quarter Final bouts. Naomi Yoshimura grabbed everyone’s attention by defeating his current tag partner and “big brother” figure HARASHIMA in the main event. It was an impressive result because everything about the match looked like HARASHIMA was going to take it. He hit the Somato but Yoshimura was too close to the ropes so he could easily reach for the rope break despite taking the full blow. HARASHIMA went for the Swan Dive Somato to finish the job but Yoshimura sprang up to his feet and caught him in mid air with the Harai Goshi! He followed up with the Throwaway Power Bomb but HARASHIMA was still fighting. HARASHIMA went for one more Somato but Yoshimura caught him again and swung him into the Osaka Pride. That was the end of it and Yoshimura pinned him for the three count!

Yuki Ueno had his own difficult mountain to climb over. Daisuke Sasaki has been a big thorn in his side based on their previous matches together. Just like in “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2021” last August, Sasaki busted Ueno open and focused on making him bleed further. Ueno’s 1st Round opponent KANON also pulled the ref out of the ring when Ueno had Sasaki pinned with the Frog Splash. However he avoided La Mistica and kicked out of the flash Hurricanrana, holding onto Sasaki’s arm the whole time so he could suddenly pull him into the WR. It ended up being a big win for Ueno, one that puts his failure to beat Sasaki last year to rest.

The dreaded hose Yuki Iino used in the opening round made its return this time attached to a portable vacuum cleaner. He tried using it on Jun Akiyama but Makoto Oishi tried stopping him. Oishi got the hose shoved into his mouth while the other end was stuck up Iino’s backside for his troubles. Akiyama grabbed the vacuum afterwards, stuck it up to Iino’s lips and switched it on to suck the life out of his opponent. Iino somehow kicked out after taking a Knee Smash and the Exploder Suplex. Akiyama then thought outside the box and placed Iino in the Paradise Lock, giving one side of Korakuen a full display of Iino’s butt in all of its glory. Akiyama then shoved both ends of the hose into Iino’s mouth and butt until Iino gave up to the Paradise Lock.

There was even more trickery in the first Quarter Final match of the show. Kazusada Higuchi waited for his opponent Masahiro Takanashi only to see Baliyan Akki and Antonio Honda walk out both disguised as him. The real Takanashi entered the ring from the other side to ambush Higuchi. The plan didn’t offer Takanashi much because Higuchi soon picked him up into the Canadian Backbreaker. That was when Plan B happened and the bell suddenly rang. DJ Nira was at the timekeeper’s desk and rang the bell early to distract Higuchi. Takanashi tried to take advantage and set up the Takatonic. However Higuchi blocked the move, grabbed Takanashi and delivered the Brain Claw Slam for the win.

At the end of the show the four remaining wrestlers in King Of DDT took part in the lottery to pair up for the next round. Whoever chose the same colour balls will face each other in the semi final. The result is Ueno Vs Yoshimura and Higuchi and Akiyama. Yoshimura later said he would have preferred to face Ueno in the final so he cannot lose to him now. Ueno has never beaten Yoshimura one on one so this is the next step for him to become the strongest wrestler in DDT. Akiyama is happy to talk about anything other than the match he had today. He thinks Higuchi has never stopped thinking about him so it is time they settle their problems in the ring. Higuchi said he needs to beat Akiyama if he is to become the new KO-D Openweight Champion.

It was slightly unusual to see wrestlers from BURNING and The 37KAMIINA teaming together. Shunma Katsumata thought all four of them were on the same page so he rushed ahead to attack Yuji Hino. He was the only one though and he simply bounced off Hino’s big chest. Luckily for him MAO was there to help him fight off Yukio Naya. MAO also gave Yusuke Okada & Yuya Koroku and extra hand to Suplex Hino. Chris Brookes set the match up for Yuki Ishida to take control but the rookie was overwhelmed with NeppoWER!! MAO & Katsumata gave him with a version of the MADMAX to end the match.

The biggest combat sporting event to happen in Japan for years was taking place a few minutes away from Korakuen Hall while DDT was running this show. As the Tokyo Dome was hosting THE MATCH in front of over 56,000 people, DDT tried to capitalize on this with their own mega fighting bout called THE KICKBOXING MATCH to an audience of 430. The match itself was a tag team bout held under kickboxing rules. Shinya Aoki wished he was at the Tokyo Dome instead, until he got to see the round girl Sanae Takebayashi do her job. He changed his tone pretty quickly after that. Toi Kojima took the match more seriously and looked to be the better fighter against Gota Ihashi. Aoki met his match against Hikaru Machida and the two fought out of the ring over to the special ring announcer Miyata Mitsuru. Both of them decided to attack him instead before going back to the ring to continue the match. In the 3rd Round, Machida used the Irai Punch on Kojima to knock him out. But rather than end the match there, Machida got Ihashi to do a Moonsault and pick up the win that way. Afterwards it was announced that Ihashi’s prize for winning is qualification to fight at an upcoming KNOCK OUT event produced by Mitsuru. He was against the idea at first but was convinced into accepting the invitation. Unfortunately Ihashi later found out Mitsuru couldn’t find a suitable opponent matching his size so the plan may be scrapped for now.

The opening match between Eruption and DAMNATION T.A went out of control when the four wrestlers involved wouldn’t stop fighting each other. Yukio Sakaguchi and MJ Paul squared off with each other while Hideki Okatani and KANON provoked each other into a fight. All of them continued fighting outside the ring until they were counted out.

In the dark match Yumehito Imanari kept Toru Owashi off his game by purposefully filming him while they wrestled. Danshoku Dieno also put Kazuki Hirata into a disadvantage by taking the Hirata GO! glasses and stuffing them into his tights. That later backfired when Dieno put Hirata in position for the Danshoku Driver. When Hirata’s head was pulled into Dieno’s tights, his music began playing. Hirata then pulled his head out revealing he landed perfectly into the GO! Glasses and is now wearing them! However Imanari gave Hirata a DDT into Dieno’s backside and Dieno then sat on top of him for the pin.

Shinichiro Kawamatsu, the active member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly who recently held the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title appeared halfway through the show to give an important announcement. He is going to do make his official pro wrestling debut at “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2022” on 20th August! He wanted to show his gratitude to DDT for winning the Iron Man Title and Sanshiro Takagi made the suggestion for him to wrestle an actual match. Kawamatsu agreed to it, feeling regret for relying on his bodyguard and doing nothing but submit during his last appearance. He owes it to all pro wrestling fans to give it a proper shot and is finding time to train inbetween his political duties. He would like Hirata to be his opponent because he lost the Iron Man Title to him by submission. He thinks Hirata owes him a debt that should be repaid.

The international wrestler teased for “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2022” is Joey Janela! He will make his DDT debut one week earlier on 14th August but his first match announced is at the Ota Ward Gymnasium show. “The Bad Boy” will take on Shunma Katsumata in a Hardcore Match! Katsumata began calling himself “The Happy Boy” in response to this news.

The Beer Garden show is back for 2022 at a new venue. This year’s edition will be held outdoors at the Ueno Park Amphitheater. For the moment the show is being marketed as a “Non-Alcoholic” show but that may change if the pandemic laws change closer to the show.

The 37KAMIINA announced they will be guests on the TV chat show “The World Unknown To Matsuko” airing on 21st June.

7. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1: Kazusada Higuchi defeated Yukio Naya with the Brain Claw Slam (18:45).
A new chapter for DDT begins with the King Of DDT opening round going ahead. The newly vacated KO-D Openweight Title goes to the winner so everybody entering the tournament had even more motivation to go out and win. Yukio Naya showed such spirit in the main event. Even though he lost to Kazusada Higuchi, he gave him a fight tougher than anybody expected. Higuchi hit the Doctor Bomb but Naya kicked out at two. It took the Brain Claw Slam of big proportions for Higuchi to win in the end. Higuchi praised his opponent for his strong showing today and promised to carry his spirit along with Tetsuya Endo’s to the final. Higuchi told the fans he will stand at the top of DDT with the KO-D Title and wait for Endo! His 2nd Round opponent Masahiro Takanashi was also amazed with the match.
It was a battle of the Knee Strikes between Jun Akiyama and Yukio Sakaguchi. Both wrestlers inherited their own versions of the move from influential people, Akiyama from Jumbo Tsuruta and Sakaguchi from his father Seiji Sakaguchi. Akiyama took it one step further by pulling down his knee pad so he could fire off some unprotected strikes to his opponent. Sakaguchi kept fighting and kicked out of the Exploder Suplex. But when the Wrist-Clutch Exploder that was it for him. Sakaguchi admitted it was the first time in a long time he felt fear inside the ring.
MAO went overboard with protection for his match against Yuki Iino. He entered the ring wearing a full on hazard suit. He needed it because Iino armed himself with a hose and successfully stuck one end of it into MAO’s mouth while holding him in a Figure Four position. He then stuck the other end into his own back side, causing MAO to give up the match. Iino faces Akiyama in the next round and Akiyama is not happy about it at all.
Things went 50-50 for DAMNATION T.A in the 1st Round. Daisuke Sasaki used a Low Blow to defeat the much larger Yuji Hino but KANON lost clean to Yuki Ueno. Sasaki said he is the one Ueno fears the most. He is probably crying in the locker room thinking about him! Ueno could tell in the ring that KANON is learning from Sasaki. He wants to go beyond KANON, Sasaki and even more so he can become champion.
DISASTER BOX on the other hand had a good first day and are on a collision course with each other. Naomi Yoshimura put away Chris Brookes after some ringside brawling and cheap attempts from Brookes to win. Brookes tied the laces of Yoshimura’s boot to a railing hoping to get him counted out. Yoshimura got a crew member to cut the laces and he proceeded to wrestle the rest of the match in one boot. Takanashi then tried to interfere so Brookes could attack Yoshimura with the DDT Universal Title. Instead Yoshimura blocked Brookes and slammed him with the Harai Goshi to earn the victory.
HARASHIMA didn’t have to worry about any cheating of that kind in his match. Instead he took on Hideki Okatani who was amped up to try and take him down. It was a good effort but the inevitable happened and HARASHIMA won with the Somato. Now HARASHIMA and Yoshimura face each other in Round 2. HARASHIMA wants to know how much stronger Yoshimura has become since their D-Ou Grand Prix 2020 match (that took place at the end of 2019). Yoshimura expects his tag partner to be merciless against him because he is the symbol of DDT.
At the start of the show Makoto Oishi announced he is ready to return to wrestling on the 24th July Korakuen Hall show! He had been out of action for a year with a fractured lumbar vertebrae. Oishi felt jealous of seeing the DDT wrestlers fighting on the big stage at “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2022” and wants to carry the company on his back as much as anyone else.

Tokyo Korakuen Hall
1. King Of DDT 2022 – Semi Final: X Vs X
2. King Of DDT 2022 – Semi Final: X Vs X
3. KO-D Openweight Title – King Of DDT 2022 – Final: X Vs X
It was announced today that Tetsuya Endo is vacating the KO-D Openweight Title and the championship will be rewarded to the winner of this year’s King Of DDT! Endo is out of action with a concussion for the foreseeable future. He will consult with both his doctor and DDT to determine when he will return. Until then, he does not feel right carrying the KO-D Title while he is absent from the tournament and made the decision to relinquish the belt. When Endo does return he wants to start at zero and climb back up to the top again.
DDT “KING OF DDT 2022 1ST ROUND”, 16/06/2022
Shinjuku FACE
-. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1: Masahiro Takanashi defeated Tetsuya Endo by Forfeit.
0. Dark Match: Masahiro Takanashi & Toi Kojima Vs Yusuke Okada & Yuya Koroku
1. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1A: Hideki Okatani Vs HARASHIMA
2. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1B: Chris Brookes Vs Naomi Yoshimura
3. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1C: Yuki Ueno Vs KANON
4. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1D: Yuji Hino Vs Daisuke Sasaki
5. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1E: Yuki “Sexy” Iino Vs MAO
6. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1F: Jun Akiyama Vs Yukio Sakaguchi
7. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 1G: Yukio Naya Vs Kazusada Higuchi
The King Of DDT winner will be recognised as the 79th KO-D Champion. The remaining 15 competitors all gave comments on the tournament today after hearing today’s news. Until yesterday, Jun Akiyama only wanted to have a good match with Yukio Sakaguchi win or lose. But after Endo vacated the title, that means Akiyama now has to win and go on to become champion for him. Sakaguchi has seen other wrestlers defeat and even surpass Akiyama. He thinks it is now his time to do the same. If Akiyama attempts to do Jumbo Tsuruta’s Jumping Knee then Sakaguchi will use his father Seiji Sakaguchi’s version of the move against it. The fact that Sakaguchi brings up his estranged dad shows how serious he is taking this.
After seeing what happened to Endo in the ring, Kazusada Higuchi feels stronger about being the person to lead DDT in Endo’s place. He will make sure he will rise to the top and carry Endo’s feeling on his back while also wearing the KO-D Title. Yukio Naya thinks he is strong enough to take him on and is eager to put his current self against him in the main event.
Akiyama badly wants MAO to win his 1st Round match because he does not want any chance of facing Yuki Iino in the second round happening. MAO also wanted to avoid Iino and thinks his tournament is already over. Iino simply says he is the King Of Sexy Star!
On the one hand, Daisuke Sasaki is confident he will win the tournament. On the other, he admits he will need a miraculous victory in order to beat his “best friend” Yuji Hino. If that does happen he is certain he will then meet KANON in the next round and that should be treated as the de facto final. He believes he is the only person in DDT who deserves the KO-D Title. Hino wonders if they are still friends because Sasaki formed DAMNATION T.A without telling him. If Hino really is holding a grudge over it then he is going to give Sasaki a bumpy ride in Round 1.
KANON is undefeated and already a champion in the two months he’s been in DDT. He is looking forward to showing his growth on his own in this tournament. If he wins he is having fun, if he loses then he is not. Yuki Ueno had a lot to think about coming out of this weekend and it makes him want to win King Of DDT and become the strongest wrestler in the company.
Both Naomi Yoshimura and Chris Brookes have bad histories with King Of DDT. Yoshimura has entered five times and never reached past the 2nd Round. Brookes has entered twice and been eliminated in the 1st Round both times. Simply advancing out of the opening stage will be his focus this year. Yoshimura wants to become the top person in DDT but realistically thinks HARASHIMA is going to win the whole thing. He’s not going to let his guard down though.
HARASHIMA has not won the KO-D Title or King Of DDT in a while so he would like to do both at the same time. He’ll be happy to meet Yoshimura in the 2nd Round. Hideki Okatani knows that he is not expected by anybody to beat HARASHIMA but he is determined not to lose. He is sure that if he wins he will be able to fight either Sakaguchi or Higuchi later on. Winning those two matches will springboard him to the championship.

2. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Winner Of Match 1A Vs Winner Of Match 1B
3. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Winner Of Match 1C Vs Winner Of Match 1D
4. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Winner Of Match 1E Vs Winner Of Match 1F
5. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Winner Of Match 1G Vs Masahiro Takanashi
Endo pulling out of the tournament means Masahiro Takanashi gets an automatic buy into Round 2. He has not been in King Of DDT in three years and does not feel like a regular member of the roster compared to the rest of the field. But he has the chance to become a double champion and also be in the main event of “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2022”. You couldn’t ask for more motivation than that.

11. GHC Heavyweight Title: Satoshi Kojima defeated Go Shiozaki (c) with the Lariat (21:11).
*Go Shiozaki fails in V1. Satoshi Kojima becomes the 39th GHC Heavyweight Champion!

The 2nd annual “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL” brought together all of the wrestling promotions owned by CyberAgent for a massive show inside Super Saitama Arena. There was plenty of news coming out of it and you can argue it was a better showing for NOAH and Tokyo Joshi Pro than it was for DDT, especially when it came to the inter-promotional matches.

Or maybe it’s New Japan that came out the winner because one of their guys now holds NOAH’s top championship! Satoshi Kojima defeated Go Shiozaki in the main event to win the GHC Heavyweight Title. He is now the fourth wrestler to achieve the biggest grand slam in Japanese pro wrestling. Only he, Kensuke Sasaki, Yoshihiro Takayama and Keiji Muto are the only wrestlers to win the GHC Title, the IWGP Heavyweight Title and the Triple Crown. Shiozaki threw everything at him including Lariats, the Go Flasher and even the Emerald Flowsion. Kojima survived all of it and put his power into three Lariats to dethrone the champion down in his first defence.

Kojima’s big celebration was cut short when Kenoh walked down to the ring. He told Kojima that NOAH is not the destination for New Japan wrestlers. He’s been of the opinion for the last few years because of Muto and Kazuyuki Fujita too. Kenoh promised to open up the future because right now NOAH and CyberFight has none! He challenged Kojima to a title match and Kojima accepted. He later said he doesn’t want anyone to think NOAH is at a low level because he is now their champion. He assures the fans that Shiozaki and the rest of the NOAH roster are not inferior to New Japan. The big title match will take place at Nippon Budokan on 16th July.

TJPW got their spotlight as the semi-main event match. Shoko Nakajima achieved her third straight Princess Of Princess Title defence by beating her long time friend and rival Yuka Sakazaki. Both were given major entrances fitting for the big occasion. Sakazaki got an army of dancing magical girls while Nakajima led a pack of dinosaurs down to the ring. Sakazaki almost won the match by hitting the Magical Merry-Go-Round but her odds vanished after Nakajima blocked the Magical Girl Niwatori Yaro with her knees. The champion then took over with a DDT and pinned Sakazaki with the Diving Senton. Nakajima is happy to see so many people watch her match against somebody as special to her as Sakazaki. Her opponent feels the same even though she lost.

The night had three DDT Vs NOAH matches and NOAH ended up with a clean sweep of victories. The big one was Kenoh defeating Daisuke Sasaki in a No DQ Match. It was a wild affair featuring interference from both DAMNATION T.A and Kongo, including Masakatsu Funaki cycling down the ramp and crashing into the wrong target. Even Yoshihiko showed up defending DDT’s honour only to get thrown out of the ring by Kenoh. Sasaki used a stun gun to prevent Kenoh from doing his Flame Kick. He then brought out a casket with thumbtacks sprinkled inside only to get slammed into it himself. Sasaki also missed a Diving Elbow Drop from the top of the ladder which cost him dearly. Kenoh had no such trouble and hit the P.F.S. Diving Stomp from the ladder to win. Afterwards backstage Kenoh explained his thoughts over DDT. He’s been calling DDT “School Wrestling” and wonders why they should feel ashamed of it? Why does DDT want to turn into a conservative mainstream wrestling company? They were built on being “Cultural Pro Wrestling” so they should have pride and confidence in being that. DDT was at its brightest when they understood it and that was how they could compete against New Japan, NOAH and All Japan. Kenoh thinks Sanshiro Takagi does not understand that and should be lucky to have a guy like Daisuke Sasaki who gets it. Sasaki blamed his loss on having to carry DDT on his back. If he fought selfishly for himself today’s result would have been very different. He says he will carry this shameful loss for the rest of his life, just like how Tetsuya Endo will carry his…

The second big DDT Vs NOAH match was the 6-Man Tag and it ended up becoming the most controversial story of the show. It was meant to be a big match with flashy entrances for everyone involved. Stories were built up pitting Kazusada Higuchi and Yoshiki Inamura against each other along with Jun Akiyama against Atsushi Kotoge. Then five minutes in we get to Tetsuya Endo against Katsuhiko Nakajima. There was an awkward looking moment when Nakajima held himself back against the ropes when Endo tried to drag him away from there. Endo threw a big kick to make him move then some Elbow Strikes. Nakajima responded with a big slap across the face, knocking Endo out and stopping the match! While Endo was getting medical assistance, Akiyama gave Nakajima a stern talking to with the other wrestlers looking on. Endo was still conscious but was helped carried to the back and diagnosed with a concussion. Akiyama criticised Nakajima in his post-match interview without naming him. He explained it doesn’t matter if you can take a strike to the temple if your opponent cannot. He was once told by Giant Baba that no matter what happens, in the end all wrestlers are friends in the same business. He doesn’t think that was the case here. He finished by saying let’s wrestle properly and do it right. I personally do not think it was Nakajima’s intention to knock out Endo but they were clearly not on the same page in the brief time they were in the ring together. I hope it was just a bad misread by Nakajima by trying to add tension to the match. Akiyama was the right person in the right place at the right time to prevent things from escalating further.

The big international guest for the show was Rob Van Dam. Today was his first time wrestling in Japan since 2014. He was on the winning team with Yoshinari Ogawa & HAYATA beating Kaito Kiyomiya, Daisuke Harada & YO-HEY in a 6-Man Tag Match. RVD even picked up the win by pinning Harada with the Five Star Frog Splash. Backstage RVD promised to come back next month. NOSAWA Rongai heard that and challenged him to a Hardcore Match with some of his friends at the Budokan show.

The main core of DDT’s tag team division provided an 8-Man Tag Match. DISASTER BOX & CDK joined forces to take on The 37KAMIINA plus Asuka. There was a massive pile on of Yuki Ueno on top of Asuka on top of Masahiro Takanashi on top of MAO on top of Naomi Yoshimura. The entire thing was then broken up by a Somato from HARASHIMA. MAO & Asuka took care of Chris Brookes with their Doomsday Shiranui double team. Shunma Katsumata tried to finish things off but HARASHIMA got him in the end with the Somato. Takanashi found it weird that wrestlers they feuded with not so long ago are here smiling with them today. Just goes to show when situations change so can certain alliances. The 37KAMIINA also agree they had a fun time and hoped the fans did too.

NOAH’s offer match was a 10-Man Tag Team bout pitting Japan against the world. The foreign team won when Michael Elgin pinned Daiki Inaba with the Elgin Bomb. Timothy Thatcher said if the match took place tomorrow the result may have been different. But today NOAH’s international team were blessed with good teamwork. Simon Gotch said NOAH has always had great foreign wrestlers and this team are part of the new history that will continue to bring in even more. Rene Dupree bragged about North America beating Japan today. The NOAH home team did not provide any post-match comments.

Shoko Nakajima’s next challenger for the Princess Title was determined in a 4 Way Match. Any idea of Daydream joining forces to wipe out the competition did not last long and the match quickly turned into every woman for herself. Miu Watanabe gave both Rika Tatsumi and Mizuki the Giant Swing together. Yuki Kamifuku later tried killing two birds with one stone by hitting the Famouser onto both Tatsumi & Mizuki at the same time. Watanabe jumped in and was ready to give Kamifuku the Tear Drop when Tatsumi broke it up with a Hip Attack. The match came down to the two Daydream wrestlers and Tatsumi came out on top with the Missile Hip to her partner. Tatsumi will now face Nakajima for the Princess Title at Ota Ward Gymnasium on 9th July. Kamifuku said she doesn’t need a championship for now. Instead she wants to fight the Cyber Japan Dancers who performed during intermission!

Pheromones are looking unstoppable once more thanks to their newest member Akito “Cochin” Nishigaki. He is all in on the gimmick, proving it is not an attempt to infiltrate the unit and destroy it from the inside. However their opponents had their own tricks to deal with, such as Kendo Kashin using a body double so he could attack from another angle. Yumiko Hotta got more than she bargained for and was sprayed with a fire extinguisher. Takagi gave Akito a Stunner but Akito stripped out of his costume to toughen up. He put Takagi in a Figure 4 Leg Lock and Yuki Iino sat on Takagi’s face for added damage, making him give up. Backstage Kashin asked for a rematch which Hotta & Shinya Aoki both agreed to. Takagi said maybe next year because his shoulder is bothering him. Kashin said it has to be this year. The four of them then crashed the Pheromones post-match interview to attack Yumehito Imanari and pull his pants down in front of the media.

Nivea sponsored the TJPW 6-Woman Tag Match and rewarded the winners with 10 years supply of their products. Hikari Noa, Suzume & Yuki Arai entered to the brand new TJPW theme song “Princess March” by Masayoshi Soken. Then Maki Itoh performed her theme song with 6 members of IQ Project before Miyu Yamashita & Juria Nagano made their entrance together. The experience of 121000000 was the deciding factor. Yamashita & Itoh took out Noa & Arai with a High Kick/Headbutt Sandwich. Yamashita then wiped out Suzume with the Skull Kick to get the three count. It is Nagano’s first win as a wrestler and Itoh joked about her getting rewarded with gifts from Nivea.

The opening match of the main show was the first DDT Vs NOAH bout of the event. It was between two teams of young wrestlers with Kinya Okada & Kai Fujimura from NOAH beating Toi Kojima & Yuya Koroku from DDT. Kojima & Koroku are both frustrated by the loss but still believe their form of training is not inferior to NOAH’s.

The STARTING BATTLE pre-show provided three dark matches involving DDT, TJPW and Ganbare☆Pro. The Ganpro team went to battle against Eruption but quickly got off on the wrong foot when Ken Ohka got rolled up in tape by his enemies once again. Yuna Manase tried to even the score by getting the better of Saki Akai with a Lariat. Mizuki Watase fought with Hideki Okatani but then turned his attention to Yukio Sakaguchi once Ohka got back into the action. Unfortunately for them, Eruption ended up with the numbers advantage and Sakaguchi choked out Watase with the Sleeper Hold to end the match. When Watase recovered he told Eruption he can continue fighting and began cutting his hair to prove it. Backstage Eruption said they will think about having more matches against Ganpro at Ganpro’s big show in Ota Ward on 10th July. Watase confronted them again and continued cutting off his hair to show how determined he is to fight them. Sakaguchi was convinced an agreed for Eruption to have another match against Ganpro at Ota Ward.

Mahiro Kiryu finally got her day in the sun by getting the win for her team in the TJPW 10-Woman Tag Match. It was an important match for some of the other women too. Kaya Toribami is celebrating finishing her first year as a pro wrestler. Raku was absent and missed by everyone, even by the opposing team. Her replacement YuuRI was disappointed to lose but would be happy to fight with the TJPW wrestlers again. Hyper Misao wanted to win before challenging for the Princess Tag Team Titles soon but still enjoyed her team today. She’d like the 5 of them to do something together again, like have a 5 Way Match! Pom Harajuku was just upset her summer is ending already because she took the fall.

DDT provided the very first match of the day inside the venue when Muscle Sakai & Yukio Naya took on Soma Takao & Kazuki Hirata. Sakai took Kenoh’s criticisms of DDT to heart and wanted to wrestle seriously. He declined a dance battle with Hirata until he was given the Hirata GO! glasses. Takao cut the dancing short so he could continue the match with Naya. Hirata almost pinned Naya with an Inside Cradle but Naya kicked out. He then delivered a Back Drop to Hirata and pinned him Yuji Hino style to get the win. Hirata said he didn’t expect Muscle Sakai of all people to come in wanting to do an exciting match.

Perhaps the biggest news of all to come out of the show was Keiji Muto’s announcement. He once called pro wrestling a marathon without a finishing line but the time has finally come for him to finish. He is going to retire next spring and is planning to wrestle only a few more matches before his career is over. His doctor told him the condition of his left hip is becoming bad and he may need to replace it with an artificial joint. Should he need a hip replacement he will no longer be able to wrestle even though he still wants to. Muto is still thinking of where and when his retirement will take place along with exactly how many more matches he will do before then. He also said The Great Muta may reappear once or twice more but when the Demon Gate to his world closes, it will this time close for good.

The entire event was not just about the pro wrestling show. There was a festival set up around the venue for fans to experience everything about the different CyberFight promotions. I could not find many details but apparently Gake no Fuchi Pro had a stall set up where Miyako Matsumoto held a meet and greet but it was taken over by Prominence.

There was a lot of threats and tough talk between the NOAH and DDT sides until they broke off from each other. Backstage Akiyama talked about how much NOAH has changed since he worked for them. Kenoh meanwhile complained about Sasaki being nowhere to be found.

5. King Of DDT 2022 – Round 2: Winner Of Match 1G Vs Winner Of Match 1H
The big combat event of the year in Japan is this month’s RIZIN Vs K-1 kickboxing bout between Tenshin Nasukawa and Takeru Segawa. It is an event so big that it is being promoted simply as “THE MATCH”. Well, at least it’s supposed to be happening this month. The massive TV deal for the fight fell through following news articles alleging the president of RIZIN to having connections with organized crime. The planned broadcast is now going to be a PPV on ABEMA. That same day in Korakuen, DDT will be doing their own version of THE MATCH with Shinya Aoki and Hikaru Machida both involved. Toi Kojima is also taking part, continuing his fighting relationship with Aoki. Finally whenever DDT does boxing things they usually bring in Gota Ihashi to be the human punching bag. He’ll be fine.
DDT “DRAMATIC DREAM TOUR 2022 IN YOKOHAMA”, 25/06/2022
Yokohama Radiant Hall
1. KO-D 10-Man Tag Team Titles: Poison Sawada JULIE, Takashi Sasaki, GENTARO, MIKAMI & Thanomsak Toba (w/ Naomi Susan) (c) Vs Yuki Ueno, MAO, Shunma Katsumata, Toi Kojima & Shinya Aoki
Aoki is joining forces with The 37KAMIINA to fight for KO-D 10-Man Tag Team Titles. The current champions are now known as Legend-gun and their schedules make it difficult to nail down dates for title defences.
GANBARE☆PRO “KINDERGARTEN COP 2022”, 29/06/2022
Shin-Kiba 1st RING
1. Road To SEKIGAHARA Special 6-Man Tag Match: Yumehito Imanari, Shota & Soma Takao Vs Ken Ohka, Masahiro Takanashi & Chris Brookes
The go home show for “WRESTLE SEKIGAHARA” sees Yumehito Imanari teaming with ROMANCE DAWN to take on Ken Ohka & CDK! So far Imanari has had Ohka’s number in the previous two warm up matches. However CDK’s antics have made them a difficult problem for ROMANCE DAWN to solve.
TOKYO JOSHI PRO “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22”, 09/07/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium
1. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Winner Of 12/6 4 Way Match
Suzume has spent time in Gatoh Move these last few weeks getting to know Mei Suruga. She was the special opponent for Suruga’s 4th Anniversary match held two weeks ago. Then today she showed up at ChocoPro to promote “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22”. Suzume and Suruga agreed to team up for the show and are currently working on what name to call themselves. Too many people involved with the promotions have already shot down AppleBees as an option so don’t even think about suggesting it.
Hikaru Shida is the latest guest star added to the show. So that’s her and Riho both coming in from AEW.
GANBARE☆PRO “WRESTLE SEKIGAHARA”, 10/07/2022
Tokyo Ota Ward Gymnasium
1. Special Single Match: Yuna Manase Vs Sayaka Unagi
2. Special Tag Match ~ CDK Vs ROMANCE DAWN: Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi Vs Shota & Soma Takao
3. Special Single Match: Shuichiro Katsumura Vs Minoru Suzuki
4. Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Title: Yumehito Imanari (c) Vs Ken Ohka
Be careful what you wish for. Shuichiro Katsumura asked for a strong opponent to fight at Ota Ward Gymnasium and Minoru Suzuki answered the challenge! Suzuki didn’t waste any time in giving Katsumura a taste of what’s to come, sparking a short brawl between the two. Suzuki said this is what you get when you pick a fight with him for two reasons. One, because it sells the match and two, because Katsumura will need to use everything he knows to have a chance at beating him.
Ganbare Tamagawa (aka Batten x Burabura) will be on the show wrestling in Ganbare☆Pro for the first time in 8 and a half years. He was one of the first people to join Ganpro after it formed in 2013, first as an ally to Ken Ohka that lead to a heel turn out of bitterness for being so weak. He saw the error of his ways and turned back face but was done with the promotion after its first year. Since then he has stayed home in Fukuoka to focus on his family business while occasionally wrestling for Kyushu Pro Wrestling.

DDT/ONLY WE “DRAMATIC DREAM TOUR 2022 IN CHIBA”, 05/06/2022
Chiba 2AW Square
123 Fans – Super No Vacancy
1. Toi Kojima Vs Yuya Koroku ended in a Time Limit Draw (15:00).
2. Soma Takao & Kazuki Hirata defeated Toru Owashi & Antonio Honda when Takao pinned Honda with the Mad Splash (7:32).
3. Special Tag Match: Kaji Tomato & Naomi Yoshimura defeated Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata when Yoshimura pinned Katsumata with the Harai Goshi (10:03).
4. HARASHIMA & Masahiro Takanashi defeated MAO & Yusuke Okada when HARASHIMA pinned Okada with the Somato (11:33).
5. Special Single Match: Daisuke Sasaki defeated Hiroshi Yamato with La Mistica Crossface Lock (11:47).
6. Tetsuya Endo, Jun Akiyama & Kazusada Higuchi defeated Yukio Sakaguchi, Hideki Okatani & Yuki Ishida when Higuchi pinned Ishida with the Brain Claw Slam (20:23).
7. ONLY WE x DDT Special 6-Man Tag Match – No DQ Match: Yuji Hino, Yukio Naya & Quiet Storm defeated Shogun Okamoto, Kenichiro Arai & Hoshitango when Hino pinned Hoshitango with the Muscle Spash onto the Chair (15:10).
Even though ONLY WE won their latest battle against PERON GRANDES, they are probably happier they don’t have to wrestle a No DQ Match anymore. Quiet Storm bragged about Yuji Hino winning the match by piling chairs on top of Hoshitango and then Muscle Splashing onto them. What can PERON GRANDES possibly do next time to beat that? Hino however was in a lot of pain and asked for the next match to just be held under normal rules. Akira Raijin was not at the show after he tested positive for covid. Kenichiro Arai took his place in the main event.
Tetsuya Endo, Jun Akiyama & Kazusada Higuchi all made it clear they are on the same page together. If Higuchi can wrestle with them against his own teammates in Eruption then they are ready to show NOAH they mean business.
After their match, Daisuke Sasaki told Hiroshi Yamato to call him a taxi so he can go home to Niigata. He wants Kenoh to now he’ll be there and doesn’t want to get ambushed. Instead Sasaki’s going to ambush him again!
The newly freelance Kaji Tomato complained about Shunma Katsumata being too noisy during their tag match. Tomato admits he is noisy too but his noise is made out of high tension while Katsumata just sounds stupid. Perhaps they can have a singles match pitting “High Tension” against “NeppoWER!!” someday.
This was the last DDT show before “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2022” so a lot of the wrestlers used the time to make their final preparations for the show. Everyone is ready to do their best no matter where on the card they are placed.
