Ganpro Double Tripleheader In January

The new year for Ganbare☆Pro begins with two tripleheader shows within days of each other. The first day takes place in Kitazawa Town Hall on 8th January. Shinjiro Otani knows full well there is another big wrestling show is happening that day but he believes in the power of pro wrestling and he believes this tripleheader will be a success. The second tripleheader takes place two days later in Itabashi Green Hall. Each show promises to be individual from each other while all conveying the power of Ganpro!

2. This Is Indie Wrestling Summit! Special 6-Man Tag Match: Takumi Tsukamoto, MAO & Baliyan Akki Vs TORU, Jun Tonsho & Tatsuya Hanami

Shota has always wanted to do a wrestling summit combining the Japanese and American wrestling scenes. The show he gets to produce here is much smaller in scale but he is still calling it the Indie Wrestling Summit. Shota thinks independent wrestling in this day and age isn’t about company size, roster numbers or skill levels. It’s whether or not the people involved have the spirit of the indies. Shota is using his 13 years of experience to gather wrestlers with this spirit and show them off at the highest level.

Soma Takao will be on the show. Shota doesn’t have a match yet so ROMANCE DAWN could face a team from the indies.

Shuichiro Katsumura will be on the show. Maybe we will get a special reunion performance from THE HALFEE?

It also cannot be called off for any reason related to the team’s inappropriate behaviour.

After three years away the Ganbare☆Climax is back with a bang. The tournament favourite has been eliminated in Round 1! Keisuke Ishii was unexpectedly Cradled by Shinichiro Tominaga two minutes into the match and was shockingly pinned for the three count. Tominaga’s celebration was cut short when an angry Ishii gave him the Double Arm DDT after the match. It shook up Tominaga so much that he thought he lost the match when he gave the show closing speech. When he shook it off and remembered he won, he then said he is now the top candidate to win the Ganbare☆Climax. He’s going to win the Spirit Of Ganbare Title and draw a thick, clear line on his somewhat vague wrestling career. That way he will be proud of being a pro wrestler, be popular with office ladies and get married four times!

Shota was accompanied by Soma Takao for his opening round match against Ken Ohka. After a back and forth match, Ohka kicked out of the Gannosuke Clutch and hit Shota with the Fire Spear for a nearfall. Ohka got the win in the end with the Vertical Drop Brainbuster. Takao helped bring Shota to the back afterwards. He explained that she showed up to support Shota because they are “classmates” from the same generation. Ohka moves on to face Tetsuhiro Kuroda in Round 2. Ohka was once a ringside attendant for Kuroda when he wrestled in DDT. He remembers accidentally stepping on Kuroda’s glasses and breaking them. Kuroda told him not to worry and forgave him. Ever since then Ohka has seen Kuroda like a god!

Recently retired kickboxer Tyson Maeguchi is trying his hand at pro wrestling as a representative of the Ibushi Wrestling Institute. He was ultimately overwhelmed by Tatsuhito Takaiwa, ending with the Death Valley Bomb. Takaiwa was pleased by Maeguchi’s performance, particularly the Dropkick he threw at him. The match was more about Takaiwa teaching Maeguchi in the ring. When Takaiwa started wrestling he learned it is about feelings, not technique because you cannot lose with feelings. He hopes to have gotten that lesson across to Maeguchi. Takaiwa moves on to the next round to fight Mizuki Watase.

Shuichiro Katsumura’s tournament got off to a good start by eliminating Seiya Morohashi. His grappling skills was too much for Morohashi to fight against and he was tangled into submission. After the match Katsumura got into a standoff with his 2nd Round opponent Kouki Iwasaki at ringside. Katsumura pushed him away and Iwasaki Headbutted him in response before things got broken up.

Iwasaki made it out of the 1st Round by beating Nobuhiro Shimatani in a DNA confrontation. Iwasaki cut down his oppoenent with High Kicks and pinned him with a Back Drop Hold. After winning the match, Iwasaki stuck around ringside to watch Katsumura Vs Morohashi which led to the post-match meeting with Katsumura.

The tournament kicked off with the last winner Yumehito Imanari winning against Baliyan Akki. He blocked the Namaste Press and scored the pin with a Lou Thesz Press. Imanari praised Akki for his performance but Akki gave him a Headbutt to take out his frustration at losing. He waited three and a half years to take part in the Ganbare☆Climax so getting eliminated in the very first match left him very upset.

The show began with an announcement that Shinjiro Otani is now the on-site director for Ganbare☆Pro! He still intends to wrestle again when his injuries are healed and had hoped to recover in time to enter the Ganbare☆Climax. Until then, this new role gives him a reason to continue working at Ganpro shows while he is out of action. His advice for the wrestlers entering the tournament is they need to be strong, passionate, hardworking and human to win. He wants the Ganbare☆Climax to cheer up everybody who sees it.

A full scale wrestling ring was set up inside the Tokorozawa Park Town Shopping Street for Ganbare☆Pro’s return to the area. Since Saitama is Keisuke Ishii’s home, he made his performance count by getting the pinfall in the main event. Ishii said he was happy to be in such a wonderful space again. The manager of Fresh Ariyama that sponsored the show said he is grateful to see smiles on everyone’s faces today. Both Ganpro and the sponsor would like to hold this show once or twice a year from now on.

Ganbare☆Climax 2021

For the third time Ganbare☆Pro is holding the Ganbare☆Climax tournament. The first two editions were held in 2017 and 2018. In 2021 the tournament is without a doubt the most important one so far for two reasons. First the tournament is being sponsored by LEC. The company sponsors various wrestling events large and small but they now have the honour of being Ganpro’s first annual sponsor. The more exciting news is the prize for winning the tournament. The winner will become the first ever Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Champion! That’s right, Ganpro finally has its own singles championship to call its own.

There are fourteen people entering the tournament. Round 1 will consist of six matches all taking place on 24th October. Two entrants will receive a bye to the second round. Then the second event on 7th November will consist of Round 2 and then the semi finals. The final will then take place on 23rd November to crown the first champion. The full list of entrants are:

3. Ganpro Special Tag Match: Tatsuhito Takaiwa & MAO defeated Yumehito Imanari & Kouki Iwasaki when Takaiwa pinned Imanari with the Death Valley Bomb (12:54).
4. IJ Tag Team Titles: Kenichiro Arai & Shota (c) defeated Hagane Shinno & Shinichiro Tominaga when Shota pinned Tominaga with a Casadora (12:17).

6. Ken Ohka 20th Anniversary Special Tag Match ~Roar Of The Lion King~: HARASHIMA & Kengo Mashimo defeated Ken Ohka & Isami Kodaka when HARASHIMA pinned Ohka with the Somato (18:23).

Twenty years in the business for Ken Ohka has made him a lot of friends and acquaintances. To celebrate he teamed with the wrestler who was once labelled as his replacement in Union Pro. Back then Kengo Mashimo was marketed as Kengo Ohka on Union shows. Their opponents were HARASHIMA, who teamed with Ohka for his most famous match, and Isami Kodaka who Ohka grew up with in their Union days. Kodaka and Mashimo also hold a grudge with each other to add some spiciness to the match. Ohka got to shine by Double German Suplexing HARASHIMA and Kodaka. He then exchanged elbows with HARASHIMA and HARASHIMA took the time to congratulate him on the anniversary inbetween the strikes. Ohka got the upper hand and pulled out a Dragon Suplex out of nowhere. But when he charged in for the Fire Spear, HARASHIMA blocked it with the Somato and then hit a second one to win the match.

After the match HARASHIMA said he was smiling from start to finish. Kodaka and Mashimo gave each other the middle finger until Ohka talked to them. Ohka said Mashimo is like his fourth son or his half-brother because he used to be Kengo Ohka. Kodaka admitted to Ohka that he overslept today and only arrived at the venue at 1pm. The show started at 11:30am. Ohka thanked all of them for coming to Ganbare☆Pro today. To him it doesn’t matter what company they work for, they can be double or triple affiliated with Ganpro for as long as they are pro wrestlers! The show ended with Ohka celebrating with the Ganpro roster in the ring. Shota tried to sneak roll up HARASHIMA for the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title during this but failed to pull it off.

The Keisuke Ishii Vs Shigehiro Irie match turned out to be a full Team Dream Futures reunion when Soma Takao was spotted in the audience at the start of the bout. Irie also had Mizuki Watase in his corner to provide some RENEGADES presence. Ishii kicked out of the Beast Bomber and hit Irie with the Kneel Kick to the back of the head. Ishii then hit the Double Arm DDT before doing one more Kneel Kick to win. The two shook hands afterwards while Takao left the room. This is the first time Ishii has beaten Irie one on one in ten years! He put his victory down to honing the Kneel Kick for 13 years.

To ensure that the IJ Tag Team Titles match was fought under PWF Rules, Ayana Shimada from Tenryu Project was at ringside to oversee the match. Both champions and challengers aren’t familiar with the rules only found out about the differences while they wrestled. Things like rope breaks not being strict and 10 counts outside the ring threw the wrestlers off but they adapted in the end. At one point Kenichiro Arai used the ropes to add leverage to Shota pinning Shinichiro Tominaga but Hagane Shinno broke it up by diving onto Arai on the ring apron. Shota ended up stealing the win anyway by rolling Tominaga up with a Casadora.

Yumehito Imanari was excited to find out Shuichi Nishinaga from NOAH was the referee for his match. He & Kouki Iwasaki worked over on Tatsuhito Takaiwa but MAO was there to help his tag partner. Takaiwa took control and pinned Imanari with the Death Valley Bomb. He noticed that Ganpro has changed a lot since the last time he wrestled for them. MAO said it was a fresh feeling wrestling in Ganpro for the first time. He also got some tips from Takaiwa on how to improve the Michinoku Driver.

The current state of Ganbare☆Joshi shows HARUKAZE is making the kind of progress she’s been looking for while the newcomer YuuRI is struggling to find a win. HARUKAZE had a confrontation with Yuna Manase after the match but found herself being praised by Asuka & Makoto. Backstage Manase & Yuna Mizumori consoled YuuRI and don’t blame her for their team losing today. Over on the other side Asuka said she wasn’t satisfied with the match because she thinks GanJo is too weak for her. However she tells HARUKAZE to continue doing her best there.

Today was the last match of Shu Sakurai’s wrestling career, at least for now. He and the rest of THE HALFEE performed “Starry Sky Distance” for their entrance before wrestling Rocky Kawamura 2, Nobuhiro Shimatani & Itsuki Aoki. Sadly for Sakurai his last match ended in defeat with Shimatani making him tap out. Sakurai wants to remind everyone this isn’t a retirement and he will come back some day. His decision to leave is for positive reasons and he hopes to learn and grow as a person while he is away. Shuichiro Katsumura & Moeka Haruhi suggested they all reunite in 47 years because THE ALFEE (the band they parody) are celebrating their 47th anniversary this year.

Some important announcements related to the Ganbare☆Climax were given during the show. First, the tournament is being sponsored by LEC. And second, the winner of the Ganbare☆Climax will be crowned the first Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Champion! The president of LEC Takaki Nagamori showed off the new championship belt and talked about LEC sponsoring various pro wrestling events from the G1 Climax to the Ganbare☆Climax.

The wrestlers entering the Ganbare☆Climax 2021 are Ken Ohka, Yumehito Imanari, Keisuke Ishii, Shuichiro Katsumura, Shota, Shinichiro Tominaga, Kouki Iwasaki, Baliyan Akki, Nobuhiro Shimatani, Mizuki Watase, Seiya Morohashi, Tetsuhiro Kuroda, Tatsuhito Takaiwa and kickboxer Tyson Maeguchi. The tournament begins on 24th October and the final to crown the champion will take place on 23rd November.

I don’t have the energy to figure out what happens if Takato Nakano and Masato Kamino win their matches. The last day of Jacket Matches were a mixed bag for Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi. He won one and lost one, leaving him stuck at #8 in the rankings. His latest opponent Shiori Asahi is currently ranked #15.

DDT is collaborating with “Record Of Ragnarok” for a special match. The series is about Humanity fighting for its very survival in a deadly fighting tournament against Gods. It has a manga, a Netflix produced anime and will soon launch a live action stage show. One team led by Daisuke Sekimoto will represent the Gods from the anime and will wrestle in special costumes made for the match. If that’s not enough, Riki Choshu will also be there to provide special guest commentary.

Two more title matches are now official. NEO Biishiki-gun have still shown interest in getting Mizuki to join them. She refuses and along with Yuka Sakazaki wants to regain the Princess Tag Team Titles.

Yuki Aino bounced back from her clean loss to Miyu Yamashita by pinning Hikari Noa in a tag match. With her recent record against champions, Aino has enough claim to challenge for the International Princess Title. Noa isn’t afraid to take the match to dangerous levels in order to keep the belt over her shoulder.

The complete card for “WRESTLE PRINCESS II” will be revealed tomorrow.
