A minor left heel injury suffered on Sunday’s DDT show took Tetsuya Endo off of the “ALL TOGETHER” show that happened the next day. Thankfully after getting it examined Endo found out his heel has not been fractured and he is cleared to continue competing in the King Of DDT this weekend.

Even though Poison Sawada JULIE was eliminated from the tournament, he will be hanging around for a little while longer. He gets to form a DDT Legend team with HARASHIMA & Danshoku Dieno to take on the young blood.

All of a sudden Yuki Kamifuku has created an Asian Double Crown championship! She has held the Queen Of Asia Title since last November and just a few days ago won the brand new VPW Women’s Title in Vietnam. Both of those title wins came from Kamifuku defeating Alexis Lee, a 10 year veteran of the Southeast Asian wrestling scene. Her name has come up a lot in my DDT Around The World reports because she is the go-to opponent for whenever somebody from Tokyo Joshi Pro travels to Singapore. Lee has not given up on getting revenge for losing both championships to Kamifuku and is coming to TJPW for a double title rematch!

Wakana Uehara will not be at the show because she will be performing at a stage show elsewhere that day.

There is a very slight naming change to the IRON FIST Tag Team Titles. BASARA noticed that the media and wrestlers keep writing the name of the championship in katakana instead of using the upper case “IRON FIST”. So from now on they decided it will be written as “Iron Fist Tag Team Titles” (アイアンフィストタッグ選手権).

Also something to note is BASARA themselves aren’t quite sure where Judomaster belongs to. His affiliation is written as “Free?” on their website.

The new Spirit Of Ganbare Champion wasted no time in picking his first challenger. Keisuke Ishii thinks Kouki Iwasaki is a suitable opponent to defend the title against first. The two are good friends and are certain to bring the best out of each other for the championship.

Shuichiro Katsumura is down one championship but still holds the Spirit Of Ganbare Tag Team Titles with Takuya Wada. Now that might be under threat with Shinichiro Tominaga demanding a title shot. The only problem is when Tominaga went looking for a tag partner he found nobody in Ganbare☆Pro wanting to team with him. He is now searching deep into the student pro wrestling scene and promised to find somebody in CWP who will agree to join him in the fight against GROUND ABSOLUTE.

A championship from America is going to be defended in GanPro for the first time because YuuRI wants to break into the international scene. She thinks the quickest way to do that is to win the Kitsune World Title from Sayaka Unagi. The Kitsune promotion is still young but Unagi has brought their title belt everywhere with her ever since she won it, making sure plenty of people see it. She doesn’t think YuuRI will be as dedicated as she is should she win the title off her.

Please welcome GanPro’s first rookie under their new management system, Shota Kawakami! He was born in Ichikawa, Chiba on 21st July, 2001. He is 177cm tall and weighs 80kg. His sports background is in baseball up until middle school and then tennis in high school.

The rest of the card looks just as wacky. Chris Brookes will fight The Invisible Man in the ultimate test of public performance. Masahiro Takanashi faces Ram Kaichow one on one in what looks like the only normal match of the show. Who is Mr. BUENO? We are going to find out at the same time when Antonio Honda does.

BASARA “BASARA 246 ~UTAGE~” Results

BASARA “BASARA 246 ~UTAGE~”, 30/04/2024

1. Yasu Urano & Yuki Ishikawa defeated Ryuichi Sekine & Masato Kamino when Urano pinned Sekine with a School Boy (12:24).
2. Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga defeated SAGAT & Gouma Ryu when Senga pinned Ryu after the Goregrind from SAGAT (10:40).
3. FUMA, KUBITO & Daichi Kazato defeated Isami Kodaka, Takato Nakano & Gaia Hox when Kazato pinned Nakano with a Rocket Punch (12:28).
4. Ryota Nakatsu & Fuminori Abe defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Judomaster when Nakatsu pinned Judomaster with the V Slider (12:09).
5. Union MAX Title: Minoru Fujita (c) defeated Lil’ Kraken with the Mechakucha-katame (17:23).
*V3 for Minoru Fujita.

Just like what happened at the last BASARA show, pulling off Lil’ Kraken’s mask comes with a big risk. Minoru Fujita unmasked him during the main event and Kraken blinded him with Poison Mist out of self defence. Kraken continued to wrestle unmasked for the rest of the match but was caught in a modified Gokuraku-gatame and had to give up. Fujita was still blinded after the match and had to give his victory speech while being unable to see anything. Daichi Kazato then entered the ring and excitedly challenged Fujita for the Union MAX Title. However Isami Kodaka demanded Kazato face him in a singles match first. Kodaka has his own plans in mind but he will only reveal what it is after he beats Kazato.

The No. 1 Contenders for the IRON FIST Tag Team Titles hit a speed bump on the road to their title shot. One-half of the champions Ryota Nakatsu was able to beat Takumi Tsukamoto & Judomaster while teaming with Fuminori Abe insteado of Kazusada Higuchi. Judomaster seems to remember what the rules of pro wrestling are but now the problem with him is his mask. Nakatsu kept pulling at his mask to block his sight and it eventually paid off with the win.

In Match #2 SAGAT hit Banana Senga with the Goregrind but they landed on top of Gouma Ryu. Since Ryu’s shoulders were pinned to the mat, the referee counted Senga pinning him instead of SAGAT pinning Senga.

The Yuki Ishikawa that fought in the opener is the Big Japan wrestler, not the shoot style fighter. Today was his first match with BASARA.

Last week Sanshiro Takagi hatched a plan to get the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title off of Sayaka Unagi. He no longer trusts Unagi to protect the belt after she lost it to an unknown person in America last month and risked it disappearing from DDT forever. Takagi’s plan was to attack Unagi with a pack of Grilled Unagi in her dressing room before a press conference. Takagi choked Unagi with the unagi and she tapped out. The referee was about to hand Takagi the belt when he instead told him to give it to the Grilled Unagi! Sayaka Unagi got revenge during the press conference when she opened the pack of unagi, filled it in a bowl with rice and began to eat it. After taking a few bites, the referee checked on the unagi for any movement and ruled it had been knocked out which means Sayaka Unagi is the champion again! She then promised to defeat Takagi on behalf of all kinds of Unagi.

Keigo Nakamura asked MAO to put the DDT Universal Title on the line in their match. MAO likes the idea because the story of a wrestler winning the title in his comeback match from injury hasn’t happened before with the Universal Championship. He wants to do unprecedented things in his title reign and that matches what he is looking for. Nakamura developed a desire to win that particular championship while he was rehabbing from his injury.

It was discovered today that Makoto Oishi has been stripped of the O-40 Title because it has taken him too long to defend it. DDT has not said what the maximum time period allowed between defences is but Oishi won the belt on 21st March, 2023 and there hasn’t been a title match since. That’s a one day short of an entire year without Oishi defending the title (remember we’re in a leap year). However Oishi is getting a chance to win the title back and become a two time champion. He will have to beat Azul Dragon in a match where the vacant O-40 Title is up for grabs. Oishi is a little annoyed over the decision because 1) he never knew there was a deadline to set up a title defence and 2) Azul Dragon’s age is private so nobody knows if he is even eligible to compete for the championship.

So far in Minoru Fujita’s title reign he has defended the Union Max Title against Takato Nakano and Masato Kamino, two wrestlers from BASARA’s young generation. Lil’ Kraken paid attention to that connection and came to the conclusion that he should be next to get a title shot. Fujita only accepted his challenge because Kraken has a singles win over The Great Sasauke while he does not. He will not stand for that kind of discrepancy!

2. 3 Way Tag Match: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga defeated Ryuichi Sekine & Gouma Ryu and Takato Nakano & Yasu Urano when Oosugi pinned Ryu after a Thrust Kick from Senga (9:28).
3. Takumi Tsukamoto, SAGAT & Judomaster Vs FUMA, KUBITO & Daichi Kazato ended in a Draw when Tsukamoto and Kazato pinned each other (12:17).
4. Kazusada Higuchi defeated Isami Kosaka with the Doctor Bomb (13:11).
5. Union MAX Title: Minoru Fujita (c) defeated Masato Kamino with a Modified Inside Cradle (18:04).
*V2 for Minoru Fujita.

Minoru Fujita praised Masato Kamino for being a strong opponent and let him give have time on the microphone after the match. Kamino was disappointed not to win today but reminded Fujita they will face each other again in another title bout this weekend. This time it will be in TTT in a match for the TTT Indie Unified 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Fujita is one of the title holders over there. Then Lil’ Kraken entered the ring and asked Fujita for a Union MAX Title shot. He figured since both Takato Nakano and now Masato Kamino lost to Fujita, he is next in line from their generation to challenge the champion. Fujita didn’t like the idea until he remembered that Kraken beat The Great Sasuke at Korakuen Hall last December. That doesn’t sit right with Fujita because he has never beaten Sasuke one on one. The title match will happen on 30th April.

Isami Kodaka tried targeting Kazusada Higuchi’s right arm during their match. The plan worked for a while but Higuchi was able to tough it out and beat Kodaka clean in a preview of next month’s IRON FIST Tag Team Titles match.

Match #2 ended with everybody piling on top of Gouma Ryu for the pin. Speed Of Sounds were ruled the winners because they were directly on top of him.

Somebody Akiyama knows from AEW?

At last NOAH is crossing over into DDT a little bit more. Hi69 from the TEAM NOAH unit is interested in challenging for the DDT Extreme Title and will go through a Hardcore Match in order to win it. Shunma Katsumata is a little annoyed at how little Hi69 knows what the championship is all about. It’s more than just your typical Hardcore Title. Also it’s up to the champion to choose the match stipulation. Katsumata is willing to fight on Hi69’s terms to prove his point.

There’s been a specific list of wrestlers Yuki Ueno wanted to defend the KO-D Openweight Title against in order to establish himself as the new ace of the company. He has just one more name to tick off and that is Akito. While the match does not sound like a major contest on paper, Akito is somebody who eats, sleeps and breathes DDT 24/7 while working as the company’s vice president. If beating Ueno for the KO-D Title is what it takes for Akito to prove how much he loves the company more than anyone else then so be it.

D.O.A ended the existence of Zuncha♪Muscle Survivor over the weekend and now find themselves under threat by DAMNATION T.A. Remember, the current KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions made a deal with each other to disband once they lose the titles. It could happen here.

After being out of action with injury for almost a year, Keigo Nakamura will return to the ring a the end of April. Hopefully he got his right knee sorted this time because it’s an injury that has hampered his wrestling career right when it started to pick up.

Over the weekend Super Sasadango Machine noticed something. He is on the poster for this show but hasn’t been booked for a match yet. He thought he was going to be on the show anyway because DDT is celebrating its 27th anniversary so he kept his busy schedule free for that day. Akito used his vice president duties to look into it and apologized when he found out that DDT did indeed forget to book Sasadango for the show. To make up for it one more match has been added to the 5 hour show and Akito himself will be Sasadango’s opponent. Now Keisuke Ishii is also getting booked in order to take Akito’s original spot in Match #3. Sasadango has since showed his appreciation to Akito for owning up o the mistake and apologized for giving him extra work to do. So for the first time ever we’re getting a wrestling match where the buildup involves both wrestlers constantly apologizing to each other.

At the last BASARA show the top two members of Sento Minzoku challenged Harimao for the IRON FIST Tag Team Titles. The Up Up Girls (Pro Wrestling) are holding their own event that is a mixture of both wrestling matches and a concert. All currently active members will be involved. The management group behind the unit has already said Hikari Noa will not be at the show. She is gradually being mentioned or shown on promotional material again so to me that is a small but positive sign towards her eventually coming back. I think her future will be more clear next month after “GRAND PRINCESS ’24” and the American shows are out of the way. We’re more likely to see her in public again before Kate Middleton that’s for sure.

This is the complete TJPW card you’re going to get in Philadelphia. Hmmm… I’m not that hot on it to be honest. If last year’s USA show was comparable to a Korakuen Hall show this one is more Ryogoku KFC Hall. I guess they’re a bit more conservative this time around because they have the second show with GCW the day after.

Speaking of GCW, Maki Itoh won the GCW Extreme Title in a 6 Way Scramble match on Saturday night! I’ll write more about it in the next DDT Around The World article at the end of the month.

Yeah, beats me what’s going on or what she will do there. Mizuki wants to team with her again and is scared over the idea it won’t happen. Sakazaki helped train Juria Nagano so she can say goodbye to her there. What if Sakazaki wants to get in the ring with Masha Slamovich again? Or maybe she wants to fight Andreza Giant Panda while she still has the chance.

1a. Rematch: FUMA, KUBITO & Yasu Urano defeated SAGAT, Masato Kamino & Gouma Ryu when FUMA pinned Ryu with a Middle Kick (0:24).
1b. Rematch: FUMA, KUBITO & Yasu Urano defeated SAGAT, Masato Kamino & Gouma Ryu when FUMA pinned Ryu with a Middle Kick (5:58).
2. Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga defeated Daichi Kazato & Chicharito Shoki when Senga pinned Kazato with the Koryu (8:56).
3. Kengo Mashimo defeated Lil’ Kraken by Countout (10:27).
4. Isami Kodaka & Ryota Nakatsu defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Judomaster when Nakatsu pinned Judomaster with a Brainbuster (0:28).

Takato Nakano had his own cheering section led by Kaori Yoneyama, Cherry, Matsuzawa-san and other people related to the YMZ wrestling promotion during the main event. He was able to kick out of the Samson Clutch but Minoru Fujita eventually pinned him with the Modified Tombstone. After the match Masato Kamino challenged Fujita to a title match. Fujita asked if Kamino can drum up the same level of support as Takano did? Are Yoneyama, Cherry or Matsuzawa-san going to come back and cheer him on too? Fujita has never gotten to lead BASARA until now so he wants to fill up Shin-Kiba 1st RING with people no matter if they support him or his challengers. He agreed to the match for next month.

There was a sudden announcement that Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi missed the show due to a bout of love sickness. His replacement was a masked fighter going by the name Judomaster. He was quickly pinned by Ryota Nakatsu and admitted to Takumi Tsukamoto afterward he does not understand the rules of pro wrestling. The two teams agreed to restart the match and this time Judomaster got the hang of things. He lost again though, this time to Isami Kodaka.

The opening match also had to restart a couple of times because Gouma Ryu kept getting pinned quickly. He kept pleading on the microphone to do rematches and got the fans to side with him.
