Two debuts are in the top two matches of this show. The Up Up Girls get the entire main event to themselves for Shino Suzuki’s first match. Toga is in the match before taking on Miyu Yamashita.

Toga is sticking with the name for her debut, switching the spelling from Hiragana (とうが) to Kanji (凍雅). It is similar to what Raku did with her name when she turned pro. Toga has been a pro wrestling fan since elementary school and was inspired to become a wrestler after seeing Saki Akai. She was born in Kanagawa on 27th February, 2003. She is 168cm tall.

Recently Tsutomu Oosugi won the TTT Indie Unified Openweight Title, his very first singles championship. It may be the inspiration for Banana Senga’s sudden decision to challenge Isami Kodaka for the Union MAX Title. The weird thing is Senga currently holds the TTT Indie Unified 6-Man Tag Team Titles with two other wrestlers so it’s not as if he’s had no success away from Speed Of Sounds.

BASARA “BASARA 212 ~KOO~” Results

BASARA “BASARA 212 ~KOO~”, 28/02/2023

1. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Daichi Kazato defeated Lil’ Kraken & Tsutomu Oosugi when Kazato pinned Kraken with the OPA! (7:33).
2. Turnabout Pro Wrestling Trial: Antonio Honda defeated Gouma Ryu and Banana Senga when Honda pinned Senga with the Bionic Elbow (10:32).
3. FUMA & KUBITO defeated Masato Kamino & Yasu Urano when KUBITO pinned Kamino with the Death Metal Roll (11:35).
4. SAGAT defeated Takumi Tsukamoto with the Gore Grind (9:30).
5. Ryota Nakatsu & Kazusada Higuchi defeated Daiki Shimomura & Fuminori Abe when Higuchi pinned Shimomura with the Brain Claw Slam (14:45).
6. Union MAX Title: Isami Kodaka (c) defeated Takato Nakano with the Isamiashi Zan (17:55).
*V5 for Isami Kodaka.

When the main event was over Isami Kodaka told Takato Nakano he has grown up a lot. But despite Nakano’s progress, Kodaka is not ready to give up his spot on top yet and challenges Nakano to face him as many times as he wants. Nakano was about to challenge him to a rematch for next month only for Kodaka to cut him off and say he’s now at the back of the line. However he also thanked him for joining BASARA in the first place. Banana Senga then came down to the ring and challenged Kodaka for the Union MAX Title on 28th March. Kodaka accepted and is led to believe Senga’s sudden move into singles wrestling was influenced by his tag partner Tsutomu Oosugi recently doing the same elsewhere.

The other half of the IRON FIST TAG Champions also lost his match. Masato Kamino was pinned by KUBITO and he tried to blame it on Yasu Urano. When Nakano found out about it backstage he told Kamino they have to give KUBITO a title shot now even though KUBITO did not ask for one. Aijin Tag agreed with each other to put the belts on the line against KUBITO & FUMA next month.

Antonio Honda was taken to trial accused of committing fraud. Senga said signed a contract to have pro wrestling match in Shin-Kiba 1st RING and then accused Honda of not being a pro wrestler. Honda tried to prove his innocence by describing Gongitsune as a wrestling technique but Senga then accused him of plagiarism. He then turned up the heat after Honda admitted to turning down a booking in favour of doing non-wrestling related live performances recently. However Honda defended himself by saying he takes pro wrestling more seriously than either Senga or Gouma Ryu. The trial devolved into a 3 Way Match that ended with Honda beating Senga. Honda admitted he’s been taking pro wrestling for granted so he now entrusts his dreams to Senga. That is what convinced Senga to challenge Kodaka for the Union MAX Title later in the show.

Everything Other Than The Big Show Lineups, Shino Suzuki Debut

A lot to get through here. I’ll save the “GRAND PRINCESS ’23” and “JUDGEMENT 2023” for the next post just to give the pages some breathing room. There will be so much to write about between the two “Big Match” events, Wrestlemania Weekend, a whole bunch of debuting wrestlers and all of the other international bookings to keep track of. Staying up to date with the all of the news and shows in the next month is probably going to kill me.

The lineup for the “ALL STAR JR FESTIVAL 2023~” was revealed over the weekend and it turns out Isami Kodaka is the only BASARA representative on the show. Takato Nakano was convinced he would be on it. Maybe winning the Union MAX Title away from Kodaka tomorrow will lead to a last minute change of plan.

Mizuki continues going through a… um… well calling it a murderer’s row of opponents isn’t accurate given how little a challenge they’ve given her so far. More like a jaywalker’s path? That’s kind of the level of crime Pom Harajuku would commit I guess.

Daisy Monkey are back teaming up to take on the rookie pairing of Wakana Uehara & HIMAWARI.

Maki Itoh is missing the show because she will be in America wrestling for GCW that day.

The third trainee in the recent class of five is ready to make his debut. Rukiya Ikeda is from Toyonaka City, Osaka and was born on 25th February, 2001. He is 177cm tall and weighs 80kg. His athletic background is in baseball and grappling.

Naruki Doi and Kotaro Suzuki will both be on the show.

Akiyama has picked Yusuke Okada & Yuya Koroku to be his partners for the match. It means Sasadango, Ueno & Shinya Aoki now have to face BURNING again but if they win here then they will have beaten every member of the group!

Pole Dance Training, The Unfinished Genius, BASARA At All Star Jr. Festival

Burlesque dancers will be performing while the match is going on. Since the match is being broadcast on PPV on the PIA LIVE STREAM service, fans watching can donate to support their favorite wrestlers too. ShunMao said the match will be so hot the club will turn into a sauna. However they are already looking past their opponents because they are also looking forward to defending the KO-D Tag Team Titles against Yukio Sakaguchi & Hikaru Machida a few days later.

Meanwhile Bonno Dai Shacho have taken up pole dance training to prepare for the match! Fuminori Abe became inspired to use the surrounding environment to its fullest, wanting to use the poles on stage to create the most gruesome and erotic wrestling move he can think of. Sanshiro Takagi loved the idea but has no experience using poles so the two of them took a class at Pole & Fitness Studio Lycoris in Itabashi. There they were given a lesson by Keiko, a world pole dancing champion. Keiko suggested they should use a Headscissors while hanging from the pole and in practice it turned out to be a very powerful technique. At the end of the class both Takagi & Abe felt confident what they learned will win them the KO-D Tag Titles!

“The Unfinished Genius” is a new nickname that’s been given to Yukio Naya to mark his rise up the ranks in DDT. There has always been high expectations for his pro wrestling career and he was reminded of it when he threw out the challenge at Yuji Hino for the KO-D Openweight Title last month. The growing confidence makes him think he will definitely beat HARASHIMA to become the No. 1 Contender. HARASHIMA has other ideas. He needs the KO-D Title to prove he is still the centre of DDT. Due to the company’s attempts to push their younger wrestlers, HARASHIMA hasn’t had much of a chance to showcase himself lately. This upcoming match may be his only way to remain in the main event scene for the time being.

Sakaguchi & Machida are currently standing on the sidelines waiting to see which tag team they will be facing for the KO-D Tag Titles. It does not matter who they face, their match plan will be the same. But Sakaguchi does admit he would prefer to see Takagi & Abe win because they represent the old DDT. Machida would be happy to fight either MAO or Abe because he knows how strong they are from his previous meetings with them in the ring.

With a spot on the DDT USA shows on the line, the D GENERATIONS CUP final is between Yuya Koroku and Takeshi Masada. It was Masada’s desire to get onto the American shows that caused this tournament to begin with and he is now one step away from achieving his goal. All of the other wrestlers in the tournament are facing each other in a 6-Man Tag Match. Koroku wants to continue his own momentum by finishing the tournament completely unbeaten, proving he is the strongest in his generation.

The show is also happening the day before “ALL STAR JR FESTIVAL 2023”. Kodaka has already been announced as BASARA’s representative for the show but Nakano is convinced he will be a part of it too. Whoever wins this match will probably be carrying the MAX Title into Korakuen Hall 24 hours later.

Harimao is having a little bit more presence in BASARA thanks to Ryota Nakatsu now joining the unit. Kazusada Higuchi is paying back the favour by bringing their team back here.

Isami Kodaka lived up to his word and is now the first wrestler in BASARA to hold the Union MAX Title and IRON FIST Tag Titles at the same time! Daiki Shimomura was also excited to win the Tag Titles again for a second time. Aijin Tag came out after the match to challenge Sento Minzoku to a title match. Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino wanted to win the belts back from Takumi Tsukamoto & Yasu Urano but now they will have to fight the new champions instead. Nakano is hoping to win so he can bring the belt with him to the “ALL STAR JR FESTIVAL 2023” on 1st March but Kamino interrupted him before he finished saying it. The new champions accepted and Kodaka decided the match will happen at Oji BASEMENT MONSTAR on 18th February. He also wants to defend the Union MAX Title in the same month so that will likely happen on the 28th in Shin-Kiba 1st RING.

The match between friends and DNA rivals Kazusada Higuchi and Ryota Nakatsu almost ended in a double knockout. Both wrestlers were down for a 9 count after Nakatsu applied a Triangle Choke and Higuchi broke free by countering it with a Power Bomb. Higuchi got the better of Nakatsu in the final exchange and pinned him with the Brain Claw Slam. After the match Higuchi said he and Yuki Ishida are unsure when Naomi Yoshimura will return to action. He asked for Nakatsu’s help and offered him a spot in Harimao. Given their history together Nakatsu was happy to accept after the other members of Sparky gave him their blessing. He also made sure to note he is joining as a new member and not as a replacement for the injured Yoshimura. Higuchi explained in an interview after the show that he wanted to add a presence not from DDT to the unit. He always thought if Harimao was going to add a fourth member it would be Nakatsu.

TwinBox AKIHABARA was where Miyu Yamashita, KANNA and Chikage Kiba had their first exhibition matches on 30th January, 2013. To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of that event, TJPW is holding the Princess Of The Decade tournament on PPV featuring 19 wrestlers from the roster taking part. It will be an empty arena show with all of the matches being held on mats instead of a wrestling ring. The winner of the tournament will receive a luxurious prize. Yuka Sakazaki, Yuki Kamifuku and Wakana Uehara will not be on the show. Sakazaki and Kamifuku are both wrestling overseas while Uehara has a scheduling conflict.

Fuminori Abe wins the Chouten ~Itadaki~ tournament after he defeated Yasu Urano in the final! Afterwards he challenged Isami Kodaka for the Union MAX Title at Korakuen Hall on 11th December.

The return of the Turnabout Pro Wrestling Trial brought Kodaka to court accused of blackmail. The Prosecutor Banana Senga said Kodaka used blackmail to deprive Gouma of his full name, Gouma Ryu. Since Gouma was Kodaka’s attorney in this trial, he had to defend that incident. He lost the Ryu part of his name because of a match stipulation and had to follow the rules. The two agreed if they could beat Kodaka then they could get Gouma’s name back. They won the match and Kodaka was declared guilty. However, Kodaka asked the court for an appeal over the result. It’s been granted so for now Gouma has been temporarily renamed Gouma Ryu (Reserve) until further notice.

Ryuichi Sekine announced he will have his comeback match on the 11th December Korakuen show. He took a break from wrestling back at the end of January 2021 to take care of his mental health.

Mixed fortunes all around in the D-Ou Grand Prix so far. A Block is all to play for at the moment. Everyone is still in the running so wrestlers like Naomi Yoshimura and Daisuke Sasaki have to start their comeback now before it’s too late. The B Block matches on this show is giving those involved the chance to catch up with the leader Yuji Hino.

It’s time for Ganbare☆Joshi to finally do those big series of singles matches that shows are built around sometimes. Most of the division are taking on each other but Yuna Manase is getting a brand new opponent making her Ganbare☆Pro debut. Echika Miyabi is a trans joshi wrestler who made her pro wrestling debut with P.P.P. Tokyo in September. Miyabi is 21 years old, 178cm tall and weighs 75kg. She had a background in baseball and judo before she transitioned during her college years. She worked at a muscle girls themed bar where she was introduced to pro wrestling by her workmate, Chanyota and began training with her.

It will be a few weeks until the next Spirit Of Ganbare Title defence so until then Hartley Jackson and Mizuki Watase will have plenty of time to prepare for it. Former champion Tatsuhito Takaiwa is coming back to give Watase some help in his preparation. Jackson will be teaming with Seiya Morohashi for this match.

Kouki Iwasaki’s final match in Ganpro will be against Keisuke Ishii but before that happens, he wants to team with him one last time. Their friendship will be put to the test against Ganpro’s original best buddies, Ken Ohka & Yumehito Imanari.

2018 was the last time the World Omori Title was defended outside the JR Omori Station. It’s been years since DDT held a show there but they are finally going back. It was determined four years ago that Chikara would defend the title against Masahiro Takanashi next but Takanashi will be busy wrestling in Singapore. So instead Soma Takao has been chosen to challenge for the belt even though he does not want to. The next No. 1 Contender for the following year’s event is usually determined on this show too.

Now that Pheromones have won the war against Sanshiro Takagi, it is up to Akito to protect DDT from their scandalous ways. Takagi has “graduated” from the feud and selected Akito to take his place as Captain of the Pheromones Subjugation Squad. Akito feels like he’s been in that position for a while anyway but agreed to the idea. He’s not wrestling on this show but will be accompanying the opposing team to make sure Pheromones don’t fall out of line.

The new rookie Kazumi Sumi impressed with his debut match. Jae over at Dragongate revealed in a tweet that Sumi originally came from the dojo over there but dropped out. And that is how DDT is getting some of their new trainees. They start training at other companies, leave for whatever reason and end up over in DDT. Might be a little awkward if he bumps into Naruki Doi in the locker room then.

One of the non-tournament matches will feature Joey Janela against Rickey Shane Page on opposite sides. Not sure if there’s still bad blood between the two over the GCW Vs 44OH! feud from not so long ago but they don’t even need that excuse to do something crazy together. They’ll be facing each other in the D-Ou GP a few days later anyway so plenty of chances for them to wreck each other.

Last we heard from Gorgeous Matsuno he was in the early stages of preparations donating a kidney to his partner Junko Tashiro. He gave an update during the week that the kidney transplant has been delayed until next Spring. He explained in an interview that Tashiro’s recent blood tests showed she is in good health and her doctors suggested it might not be a good idea to get a transplant right away while her own kidneys are still functioning. The operation will have to happen eventually but right now Matsuno has been given extra time to go back to his different entertainment activities, including pro wrestling.

It’s very likely that the D-Ou winner will challenge Kazusada Higuchi for the KO-D Openweight Title at the end of the year. Or if Higuchi wins the tournament then he will likely nominate his challenger.

Two outsiders have come to challenge Reiwa AA Cannon. The duo of Saori Anou & Riko Kawahata both have histories with Saki Akai but they are completely brand new opponents for Yuki Arai.
