A lot to get through here. I’ll save the “GRAND PRINCESS ’23” and “JUDGEMENT 2023” for the next post just to give the pages some breathing room. There will be so much to write about between the two “Big Match” events, Wrestlemania Weekend, a whole bunch of debuting wrestlers and all of the other international bookings to keep track of. Staying up to date with the all of the news and shows in the next month is probably going to kill me.

That’s kind of the level of crime Pom Harajuku would commit I guess.

Maki Itoh is missing the show because she will be in America wrestling for GCW that day.

The third trainee in the recent class of five is ready to make his debut. Rukiya Ikeda is from Toyonaka City, Osaka and was born on 25th February, 2001. He is 177cm tall and weighs 80kg. His athletic background is in baseball and grappling.
Naruki Doi and Kotaro Suzuki will both be on the show.

It means Sasadango, Ueno & Shinya Aoki now have to face BURNING again but if they win here then they will have beaten every member of the group!

It is approaching two years since HARASHIMA last fought for the KO-D Openweight Title. The physical belt has changed since then and he would like to hold the new design at least once. He says he is in good enough shape to continue challenging for the championship. He also has a plan in mind to beat Yukio Naya despite having the size disadvantage. Basically big guys like Naya don’t like getting kicked in the face a lot.
ShunMao are still the KO-D Tag Team Champions so they are the ones defending the belts against Yukio Sakaguchi & Hikaru Machida. Meanwhile Bonno Dai Shacho get relegated to the dark match.

The three wrestlers producing their own matches for the show have come up with their decisions. Tetsuya Endo chose to do a rematch of his debut from 2012. When he teamed with Keisuke Ishii for his first match they lost to Akito & Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi. Now over a decade later Endo wants revenge!
Kazuki Hirata feels indebted to both Toru Owashi and Yukio Sakaguchi so he made this match to show his gratitude for them. He wanted it to be a fair fight and worked out that if he teams with Soma Takao, Gota Ihashi & Keigo Nakamura then both sides will be even. Items brought by the fans are allowed to be used as weapons but Hirata advises everyone not to bring anything too dangerous.
The poor wrestlers entering the Pheromones Rumble are being labelled by the unit as sacrifices.

The card for DDT’s longest show of the year is about halfway complete. Hisaya Imabayashi decided that Akito must put together another team to try and destroy Pheromones once and for all. Toru Owashi, Hiroshi Yamato & Yusuke Okada are the ones getting drafted into this battle.
Gorgeous Matsuno sent a demand to DDT for the O-40 Title to be reactivated. The championship was vacated by Toru Owashi last October but Matsuno is the person most associated with the prize. DDT accepted the demand and will thrown Matsuno into a match with Makoto Oishi and Shinichiro Kawamatsu to see which man over the age of 40 is the best!

While a bulk of the DDT roster will be in America, a few of the others will remain in Japan to hold the fort and run their own show. Given the unusual mix of wrestlers available we’re getting some unique matches going on. Hikaru Sato returns to DDT to team with HARASHIMA against the old Shuten-dōji team of Yukio Sakaguchi & Masahiro Takanashi. There is a Hardcore match between the heavyweights Yukio Naya and MJ Paul. Then most odd of all is Kazuki Hirata challenging The Invisible Man to a fight! It will be the first time The Invisible Man will be in DDT since the Budokan Hall show in 2012!

The addition of Ryota Nakatsu to Harimao has fuelled some DNA nostalgia among the DDT roster. MAO was one of Nakatsu’s regular opponents on that brand so it’s time to see them fight each other for the first time in a long time.
An all BURNING tag match is being put together to build up Jun Akiyama’s upcoming DDT Extreme Title defence against Kotaro Suzuki.
Whoever is the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion on 4th March is supposed to defend the title in a Battle Royal that day. Penelope Ford is currently the champion but she’ll be going back to AEW with Kip Sabian after the 26th February Korakuen Hall show. If she is unable to return to DDT in time then the Battle Royal will go ahead with nothing on the line. DDT will then be left to figure out how they can get their belt back fair and square.

A press conference was held today to promote two of the big matches for the show. Both Yuka Sakazaki and Mizuki admitted to have mixed feelings over having to fight each other for the Princess Of Princess Title. Mizuki has a lot of respect for her friend but has now found herself wanting to be the one who carries Tokyo Joshi Pro on her back by winning the Princess Title. Sakazaki does not want to wrestle Mizuki but given how much they mean to each other she understands she has no choice but to do it. She noticed their bond has changed over time since their match at “WRESTLE PRINCESS” two and a half years ago. Out of the ring everything between them is normal when they are together but recently inside the ring their emotions have become more complicated during their preview tag matches. With that being said, both of them say The Magical Sugar Rabbits are staying together no matter who wins. In fact, they believe they will become an even more exciting tag team after they are done fighting each other.
The other match talked about was Yuki Arai’s uphill battle against Aja Kong. Arai has spent a lot of time thinking since last week’s tag match. She’s been trying to do what she can but still feels like she cannot reach her goal yet. There is still a month left for her to prepare so she wants to have a match that will leave an impact both on herself and also Kong too. Kong said she is not concerned about thinking what it is like as a “monster” to fight an idol. If you stand in front of Kong in the ring then you are a pro wrestler in her eyes and she is not taking Arai lightly. She knows Arai is thinking of ways to counter her most famous moves so Kong too is thinking about how to counter Arai’s moveset. It will be wrestler against wrestler at Ariake Coliseum so Kong wants to win!

Burlesque dancers will be performing while the match is going on. Since the match is being broadcast on PPV on the PIA LIVE STREAM service, fans watching can donate to support their favorite wrestlers too. ShunMao said the match will be so hot the club will turn into a sauna. However they are already looking past their opponents because they are also looking forward to defending the KO-D Tag Team Titles against Yukio Sakaguchi & Hikaru Machida a few days later.
Meanwhile Bonno Dai Shacho have taken up pole dance training to prepare for the match! Fuminori Abe became inspired to use the surrounding environment to its fullest, wanting to use the poles on stage to create the most gruesome and erotic wrestling move he can think of. Sanshiro Takagi loved the idea but has no experience using poles so the two of them took a class at Pole & Fitness Studio Lycoris in Itabashi. There they were given a lesson by Keiko, a world pole dancing champion. Keiko suggested they should use a Headscissors while hanging from the pole and in practice it turned out to be a very powerful technique. At the end of the class both Takagi & Abe felt confident what they learned will win them the KO-D Tag Titles!

“The Unfinished Genius” is a new nickname that’s been given to Yukio Naya to mark his rise up the ranks in DDT. There has always been high expectations for his pro wrestling career and he was reminded of it when he threw out the challenge at Yuji Hino for the KO-D Openweight Title last month. The growing confidence makes him think he will definitely beat HARASHIMA to become the No. 1 Contender. HARASHIMA has other ideas. He needs the KO-D Title to prove he is still the centre of DDT. Due to the company’s attempts to push their younger wrestlers, HARASHIMA hasn’t had much of a chance to showcase himself lately. This upcoming match may be his only way to remain in the main event scene for the time being.
Sakaguchi & Machida are currently standing on the sidelines waiting to see which tag team they will be facing for the KO-D Tag Titles. It does not matter who they face, their match plan will be the same. But Sakaguchi does admit he would prefer to see Takagi & Abe win because they represent the old DDT. Machida would be happy to fight either MAO or Abe because he knows how strong they are from his previous meetings with them in the ring.
With a spot on the DDT USA shows on the line, the D GENERATIONS CUP final is between Yuya Koroku and Takeshi Masada. It was Masada’s desire to get onto the American shows that caused this tournament to begin with and he is now one step away from achieving his goal. All of the other wrestlers in the tournament are facing each other in a 6-Man Tag Match. Koroku wants to continue his own momentum by finishing the tournament completely unbeaten, proving he is the strongest in his generation.

The show is also happening the day before “ALL STAR JR FESTIVAL 2023”. Kodaka has already been announced as BASARA’s representative for the show but Nakano is convinced he will be a part of it too. Whoever wins this match will probably be carrying the MAX Title into Korakuen Hall 24 hours later.
Harimao is having a little bit more presence in BASARA thanks to Ryota Nakatsu now joining the unit. Kazusada Higuchi is paying back the favour by bringing their team back here.

The Tokyo Joshi Pro press conference held earlier today revealed that Miyu Yamashita is going to stay in America for three months beginning at the end of March. The expedition starts when TJPW is in Los Angeles for their first show ever US show but Yamashita will not be going back home with them once it is done. Her return match in Japan will be at her homecoming show in Fukuoka on 25th June. Yamashita said she’s had a strong desire to wrestle abroad more often even before the Coronavirus pandemic begun and spoke to Tetsuya Koda about it. When the pandemic subsided, Yamashita was finally able to wrestle overseas again and started believing it was realistic for her to stay in America for a while. After more discussions with Koda and TJPW, Yamashita decided to go ahead with her plan.
Yamashita was asked questions by the host Sayuri Namba to give more details about her plans. She said she does not know what will happen to her after March and even joked she may not even be alive by then! She might go back to TJPW by the time June or July rolls around. She could even do another American excursion over the summer if this one works out the way she wants. Namba asked what were to happen if 121000000 win the Princess Tag Team Titles from The Wasteland War Party at Ariake Coliseum on 18th March? Yamashita said she & Maki Itoh will definitely win the belts and since Itoh already wrestles in America regularly they could defend the titles over there. However if 121000000 has to defend the belts back in Japan then Yamashita can temporarily come home to do those matches whenever they are scheduled. Itoh is aware of Yamashita’s plans so they already talked about keeping their tag team flexible.
Some of Yamashita’s scheduled matches during her stay have already been announced for April (Prestige, Wrestling REVOLVER and West Coast Pro among others). She has openings for May and June with the goal of fighting as many different wrestlers in as many different places as she can. She does not has a specific area of the country to focus on yet. It is also still possible for her to travel to the UK where she is currrently the reigning EVE Champion. She would still like to defend that title during this period. She has no worries about travelling for three months other than she is going to enjoy herself too much! Namba warned her not to buy an overpriced phone case again.

A press conference held earlier today had Miu Watanabe and Janai Kai meeting each other face to face. Watanabe said the more she defends the International Princess Title, the more new sights she will get to see. Her target is to defend the belt next month both at Ariake Coliseum and in America. She can still feel her potential to grow as champion so she cannot lose it tomorrow. Kai said it took her five years to finally wrestle in Japan and winning the IP Title tomorrow is part of her dream. She is friends with Watanabe’s previous challenger Trish Adora and has already gotten advice from her on how to deal with Watanabe’s power. Kai also warned the champion that she is wearing black today because this press conference is also a funeral for Watanabe’s title reign! Watanabe tried to respond in English, telling Kai “No!” and “Not!” over and over. She also tried to say tomorrow but kept stuttering. Mr. HAKU figured out Watanabe was actually saying “to-tomorrow” as in the day after tomorrow.

Yukio Sakaguchi moves up from the 4 Way Tag to replace Endo in Match #4. Gota Ihashi now takes up the empty slot in the 4 Way, with some teams mixed around to fit him in.

It will no doubt be the biggest wrestling event taking place in Japan this year. DDT’s match pits The 37KAMIINA against Endo and the three young wrestlers who best represents DDT’s future. TJPW are grouping together their four pillars to take on the generation tier that are right below them.

After disappearing without a trace one month ago, Daisuke Sasaki has reemerged in public to tell the media what had happened to him. He contacted Tokyo Sports asking for one of their reporters to meet him at a popular conveyer belt sushi restaurant. The reporter arrived in the middle of the day to find Sasaki drinking and also sporting a bandage over his left eye. Sasaki revealed he had undergone surgery for superior oblique muscle paralysis in that eye because he’s been suffering from double vision. It is a similar to the eye injury that Tetsuya Naito had to deal with last year. Sasaki told the reporter he first noticed double vision three years ago and when it is at its worst he would see four or even eight faces on his opponent while wrestling them.
According to Sasaki he had the surgery on 6th February and quit wrestling in order to do it. That’s right, Sasaki is claiming he is now retired! The reporter figured out that Sasaki could be able to wrestle again in about a month, based on Naito’s path of recovery. However Sasaki is in a depressed mood. He says he has no place in DDT and nobody from the company ever contacts him (KANON has been constantly trying to reach him ever since he disappeared). Retired from pro wrestling, Sasaki now plans to move to America to start a second life in Hollywood where he can work part time at a McDonalds. But if he is going to live in the USA, he wants to have one more match. He is asking DDT to book him on the “DDT GOES HOLLYWOOD” show in LA on 30th March. Sasaki has no interest in getting involved with the “ALL STAR JR FESTIVAL 2023” on 1st March because he has no reason to cooperate with Hiromu Takahashi. However if El Desperado ever wins back the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title then Sasaki is open to having one more match in Japan.
While Sasaki is recovering from surgery he is not doing much to stay active. He is not allowed to exercise at the moment so he just hangs around in the sushi restaurant. He also quit Twitter and uninstalled the app because his life feels better without it. The reporter noticed his account is still active and Sasaki’s reasoning is word for word identical to what the MMA fighter Mirai Asakura said when he quit Twitter earlier this week.

Keigo Nakamura has a chance to take the lead in the D GENERATIONS CUP B Block. Yuki Ishida already lost his first match and cannot afford to lose another. Over in the A Block Kazuma Sumi will try to avoid ending his tournament with three defeats in a row. Ilusion’s next match is happening on 11th February so where he stands on the 14th will be very different depending if he wins or loses that match. He may be fighting for the top spot or his match with Sumi could end up becoming the wooden spoon match of their group.
