Oh bugger. Great-O-Khan suffered a lower back injury from his recent New Japan match on 22nd December. NJPW wants him to recover in time for their Tokyo Dome shows in the new year so he’s been pulled from the DDT show as a precaution. Danshoku Dieno will now fight The Invisible Man as a last minute replacement and any intention Dieno had to unofficially defend the DDT Extreme Title has been put to the side for now.

This is the second time in a row the two finalists of the Next Generation Tournament are teaming up for a Princess Tag Team Titles shot. This time it’s the tournament prize for the winner. Haru Kazashiro beat Toga in the final to earn a title shot of her choice. She picked the Tag Titles because Maki Itoh is who she looks up to most and she’s aiming to take the title from her. She then asked Toga to be her partner for the match. Funnily enough, Toga was going to make the same choice for a similar reason because she wants to fight Miyu Yamashita for a championship. So it all conveniently works out for everyone!

Pom Harajuku is not on the show because she will be wrestling in Thailand that weekend.

An impromptu No. 1 Contenders match on the last Ganbare☆Pro show is what leads to Yumehito Imanari getting his chance to fight Keisuke Ishii for the Spirit Of Ganbare World Title. He beat Shuichiro Katsumura to do it. But while Katsumura is out of the title picture for now he is still getting an important match at the end of the year. Ishii encouraged him to go challenge Dick Togo to a match! Katsumura’s link to Togo is a very minor one but it is a story he told Ishii over drinks one night. Back when Katsumura was in high school he visited the Universal Lucha Libre dojo wanting to join it. He didn’t have the courage to go through with the plan but he remembers seeing a trainee walk past him into the building. That trainee was Togo! So this match 30 years in the making must be fate for Katsumura.

Over the weekend at a GLEAT show, MICHIKO pinned Yuna Manase in a 6-Man Tag Match and challenged her afterwards for the Kitsune World Title. Manase accepted the challenge and convinced Kitsune to let the title match take place in GanPro.

Takagi himself is unlikely to wrestle either unless he unexpectedly gets medically cleared in time.

Shuichiro Katsumura then got involved because he wants to be the next contender instead of Imanari. Michiyoshi Mishima was put on the spot to make a decision and after listening to the calls from fans as well as all the wrestlers he booked an impromptu No. 1 Contender match to take place immediately!

Imanari dodged a Moonsault from Katsumura and pinned him with the Lou Thesz Press to win the match and get the next title shot. He thanked Katsumura after the match for his behind the scenes work with Ganbare☆Pro especially when he is surrounded by people like himself who make unreasonable demands. He loves Ishii but has been beaten down by him so many times. In order to prove everything he has built in GanPro he needs to beat Ishii and take the title from him! He also identified Ishii’s father in the audience. Ishii’s father is a fan of Imanari and always cheers for him. So even though they get along, Imanari warns him that he will win the championship from his son!

Ken Ohka missed another chance to get a big championship win in his own company. He came close to pinning Mizuki Watase with the Flame Spear but Watase kicked out at the 2.99 count. He also ended up getting injured by dislocating his elbow during the match. Then when Shuji Ishikawa was busy fighting Shigehiro Irie outside the ring, Watase took over and pinned Ohka after a big Headbutt. Watase said afterward that Ohka cannot shine without having Danshoku Dieno & Muscle Sakai there to back him up. He wants Ohka to continue leading GanPro but he also wishes Ohka would have more trust in the rest of the GanPro family. Meanwhile Irie is worried he won’t be defending the Spirit Of Ganbare World Tag Team Titles again for the rest of the year because nobody came out to challenge them. Watase wants to spread the word out that they will defend the titles against anybody no matter what kind of wrestling they represent.

Kouki Iwasaki received more than just a bouquet for his 10th Anniversary Match. Katsumura also gave him a gift of diapers to celebrate the recent birth of Iwasaki’s second child. Iwasaki thanked everyone involved in the match as well as GanPro’s fans and management. He’s going to work harder than ever for his family and will look forward to his 15th and 20th anniversaries. He also said backstage that simply wrestling in GanPro is meaningless so if he comes back here next year he wants to fight for the Spirit Of Ganbare Title.

The FREEDOMS rivalry between F-SWAG and Munetatsu Nakamura led to Yuya Susumu coming over today for a match with Nakamura. The reigning King Of FREEDOM World Junior Heavyweight Champion won the match and flaunted his belt in front of Katsumura afterwards. He also tried to shake Nakamura’s hand after the match but was rejected. Nakamura has made it his goal to win that title from Susumu whether it happens in GanPro or in FREEDOMS.

A few weeks ago Shigehiro Irie & Mizuki Watase fought Naoki Tanizaki & Kohei Kinoshita on a KOBE Meriken Pro show. Kinoshita pulled off an upset by pinning Watase and made the argument afterwards to get a shot at the Spirit Of Ganbare World Tag Team Titles. That led to the rematch today in Ganbare☆Pro where the champions got their revenge with a successful title defence. Ken Ohka then challenged Irie & Watase for the titles on 17th November. His partner is going to be Shuji Ishikawa just like how it was meant to be back in August before that month’s show was cancelled because of a typhoon. However Ohka admitted he doesn’t know yet if Ishikawa is actually available for the new date. He’s confident Ishikawa will be there.

Keisuke Ishii has now tied the record for most successful Spirit Of Ganbare World Title defences after he beat Hartley Jackson.

It was announced yesterday that Runa Okubo will be taking an indefinite hiatus from pro wrestling at the end of the month to focus on her education. She is currently in high school and told Tokyo Joshi Pro she’s been having difficulties with balancing pro wrestling with her studies so a decision was made by the company and her guardians to put her wrestling career on hold for the time being. Okubo’s final match for now will be against Yuki Kamifuku. Her opponent is not going to take it easy on her though. Kamifuku said she is going to pluck out Okubo’s eyes and sell them off like jewelry!

Over the weekend BASARA announced that Daiki Shimomura’s one year suspension had come to an end and he will be returning to wrestling at the end of this month. Shimomura was suspended from all BASARA related activities last October over an incident that was only reported as inappropriate behavior from his private life. To this day I still haven’t heard anything to even suggest what the incident was. But it was enough that BASARA had to make a public apology afterward while Shimomura had to disappear from wrestling for a year. His return match has him in the ring with the other members of Sento Minzoku.

The feud between SCHADENFREUDE International and DAMNATION T.A continues with Takeshi Masada and Ilusion facing each other one on one. Ilusion wants to destroy Masada’s pretty face!

An all mascot showdown is taking place thanks to Pokotan and Touchi-kun. Originally Pokotan wanted to fight the Japan Self-Defence Force mascot but changed his tune after watching Touchi-kun’s training for the match. Now Pokotan wants to team up with Touchi-kun to take on another tag team. DDT held a press conference today annnouncing that the other team will also be made up of mascots. Oshinari-kun is the mascot for the Oshinari Shopping District and Higapyon is the mascot of Tokyo Higashi Shinkin Bank, the business that owns the naming rights for the venue. Shinichiro Kawamatsu brought the two mascots to a shrine for the announcement but didn’t expect Pokotan to show up and attack Oshinari-kun with a steel basin! However he held back from attacking Higapyon because he thinks that mascot is cute.

Tickets for the show are free so there are a lot of sponsorships up and down the card to fund the event.
