5. Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Shota defeated Asuka (c) with the Gannosuke Clutch (17:04).

2020 for Ganbare☆Pro ends with a new Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Champion! The upset title change saw Shota catch Asuka with the Gannosuke Clutch. He admitted that Asuka would be beat him nine times out of ten but today is the one time he got the better of her. His brain was still shook so he didn’t know what else to tell Asuka other than he loves her. Asuka left him alone in the ring.

Shota said at the start of the show his goal for 2021 is to become a leader of the independent scene. Well he has the chance to do that because there are already challengers lining up. First, Arata from JUST TAP OUT came out and asked Shota to defend the title on JTO’s 15th January Korakuen Hall show. He brought up the title’s history with TAKA Michinoku as a reason to do this. Shota said he watches JTO on NicoPro and knows they use a ranking system. Arata is currently ranked #5 while TAKA is #1. Shota said if Arata can beat TAKA then he will deserve a title shot. Maybe Shota will go wrestle a singles match in JTO anyway and when he wins he will nominate TAKA himself!

When Shin was finished, Shota was then confronted by Miss Mongol. She joked about never being booked by Ganbare☆Pro after she lost the GWC 6-Man Tag Team Titles in September. She’s seeing everyone else doing their best so she is going to be bold and demand a shot at the title that came from her original promotion FMW! Shota accepted the challenge and wanted the match to happen on 24th January. Mongol convinced him to do the match on 10th January instead. Also since this is an FMW championship, the match should be a Street Fight Hardcore Match! Imanari agreed and promised Shin he will make it to the JTO show as the champion.

The pair of Ikuto Hidaka & Ken Ohka have a message to spread across the world. Age is just a number! That message was put on blast by Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie. Their teamwork left Hidaka & Ohka battered and beaten in the end. Ishii likes both of them and is also a fan of numbers. He asked Hidaka to prove his claim about age by facing him one on one. Hidaka said he couldn’t prove it today because his team lost. But he has no reason to decline Ishii’s challenge and will enjoy taking on Ishii’s original pro wrestling style.

Shuichiro Katsumura and Kouki Iwasaki got into a brief scuffle after their match. When they were pulled apart, Iwasaki got to talk about yesterday’s engagement news to the fans. He thanked them for their support and will do his best with pride as a pro wrestler.

Yumehito Imanari was proudly showing off his newly won NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Title belt during the show. He and Shinjiro Otani became the new champions in ZERO1 by winning the Furinkazan Tag Tournament on Christmas Day.

Ganpro’s next Korakuen Hall show will take place on 7th April, 2021.

Over in ZERO1 today, Yumehito Imanari claimed a big prize by winning the Furinkazan Tag Tournament with Shinjiro Otani. By winning the tournament the two of them are now the NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Champions!

Endo thinks fans will choose Takeshita, wrestlers will choose Akiyama and parents will choose Akari (Makoto Oishi’s one year old daughter).

Arisu Endo has been receiving training advice from former Tokyo Joshi Pro wrestler Reika Saiki. The two of them are closely linked through the Cheer♡1 idol unit. Endo is currently positioned in the same role and unit colour (yellow) that Saiki had back when she was part of the group. Saiki’s advice to Endo is to be energetic because that is how pro wrestlers become strong. She explained to her how to train muscles particularly in the legs and waist. When Endo asked about eating habits, Saiki encouraged her to take lots of protein. Endo came out of the training session wanting to be an energetic wrestler just like Saiki!

Kota Umeda makes another appearance. He is also booked for Ganpro’s January show too. Slowly but surely he is getting active again. Wouldn’t mind him spending even more time in the ring during 2021.

The mascots of both DDT and Big Japan face off. I suppose Pokotan and Death Kamo-kun will have a wrestling match but who knows what Danshoku Dieno wants them to do. 1. International Princess Title: Yuki Kamifuku (c) Vs Mahiro Kiryu

Last month, Yuki Kamifuku and Mahiro Kiryu were supposed to team together in Narimasu and fight for a Princess Tag Team Titles shot. Kamifuku had to pull out of the match with a broken finger. When Kiryu challenged her for the International Princess Title this week, the champion knew it must take place in Narimasu for that reason.

Sakisama & Mei Saint-Michel will be on the show. Two things happen every time NEO Biishiki-gun reappear in Tokyo Joshi Pro. Sakisama and her loyal partner go after the Princess Tag Titles and they end up feuding with the newer members of the roster. Suzume & Sena Shiori look to be the feud if Saint-Michel’s immediate opinion on them is anything to go by.

Long ago, way back in February of this year Homoiro Clover Z reunited at a BOYZ show. Their return was met with defiance from the also reunited NωA and the two sides argued over who the real music idols of DDT were. As a member of both units, Makoto Oishi was stuck in the middle and unable to choose a side. A decision was made to do an Oishi Contra Oishi match with the winners getting Oishi all to themselves. The idea was forgotten about when BOYZ came back in August but it’s happening here on Christmas Eve! Oishi has to wrestle for both teams too.

There is one other match to be announced.

He had to convince Asuka it would be an easy defence for her in order to get the title shot.

1. Washi Sakurai Trial Single Match: Yuma 24 defeated Washi Sakurai with the Takizawa Package (10:03).
2. Ganpro Send-Off Match – Yuna Manase Road To Tag Champion: Ken Ohka & Yuna Mizumori defeated Shinichiro Tominaga & Yuna Manase when Ohka pinned Tominaga with the Flame Spear (7:32).
3. Ganpro Special Tag Match: Keisuke Ishii & Shota defeated Shuichiro Katsumura & Yumehito Imanari when Shota pinned Imanari with the Gannosuke Clutch (14:32).
4. The Young General Will Avenge The General’s Death! Special Single Match: Ikuto Hidaka defeated Kouki Iwasaki with the Stray Dog High Kick (19:45).
5. Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Asuka (c) defeated Moeka Haruhi with the Modified Capture Buster (16:15).
*V2 for Asuka.

Asuka praised Moeka Haruhi for giving her a tough challenge today. She wants the two of them to get along within Ganbare☆Pro and create exciting matches together. Haruhi shook her hand and said it doesn’t matter that they’re both freelancers. All the women here are Ganbare☆Joshi! Asuka agreed and told the audience there is one Ganpro show left on the schedule this year. However she will continue to be on Ganpro shows throughout 2021 to increase the value of the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title.

Backstage after the show, Shota approached Asuka and congratulated her for a good match. He said he was supposed to visit Mexico for an expedition this year but he had to cancel those plans. The only other goal he made for 2020 was become the Independent Jr. Champion. Since there is only one Ganpro show left in 2020 he wants a title shot on 26th December. Asuka wasn’t interested. Shota then said who knows what will happen to the world after December? Fortunes could change for anybody. Also Shota whispered to Asuka that she has beaten him before so it would be an easy defence. Asuka changed her mind and accepted the challenge.

Ikuto Hidaka is still undefeated in Ganpro after his win over Kouki Iwasaki. The High Kick combo that ended with the Stray Dog High Kick was too much for Iwasaki to handle.

Shota showed off his KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title belt to the crowd after his match. He pinned Yumehito Imanari with the Gannosuke Clutch after a missed Clothesline from Shuichiro Katsumura hit Imanari by mistake. Shota talked about winning the championship with a team of wrestlers all representing Young Communication. Another wrestler from that generation is his tag partner for today Keisuke Ishii. He told Ishii that Young Communication will be holding a special reunion show on 16th January and it would not be possible to do it without Ishii being there. Ishii told him he is free that day so he will be there.

Ken Ohka gave words of encouragement to Yuna Manase and Yuna Mizumori after their match. He didn’t know the match was a send-off for them but could see the passion they displayed. He said Ganpro has climbed up out of the basement floor and now feels like a hot spring. He told W☆YUNA to go carry the soul of Ganpro when they enter tomorrow’s tag tournament in Actwres girl’Z. If W☆YUNA become champions then Ohka and Shinichiro Tominaga will have a match against them when they come back! Manase thanked Ohka for the speech but would have preferred if she got the pin in her own send-off match. The point was for her to win and get momentum! Still, she will be sure to win the tournament with Mizumori.

In a last minute change, Yasu Urano was unable to compete due to poor physical condition. Taking his place was Yuma 24, previously just known as Yuma from K-DOJO. He wore a flashy jacket during his entrance and was accompanied to the ring by Shota. He seemed to care more about showing off than trying to win which meant Washi Sakurai had a more even fight than expected. At one point Yuma did the People’s Elbow with some robot dancing mixed in. Sakurai tried fighting back but Yuma got him pinned with the Takizawa Package to win.

HARUKAZE greeted the fans before the show. She wanted to do a magic trick to make up for not being able to wrestle today but gave up because the trick was too small for the entire audience to see. She then announced the show was starting but was told by the other wrestlers she was too early.

Yuna Mizumori from Gatoh Move takes her place in Match #2. Mizumori and Yuna Manase will be teaming together in Actwres girl’Z the day after as part of a tag team championship tournament. That is what the match name refers to.

Last year, Ryuji Ito and Shunma Katsumata were meant to team up for the Shuffle Tag Tournament but Ito caught the flu and couldn’t compete. They eventually got to team up in Big Japan and Katsumata wants to give back to Ito for opening the door into death matches for him. Ito has been called a death match artist so Katsumata wants to be the “Death Match Makeup Artist”. According to him this match will be his Big Japan Coloring Project.

There is one other match planned for the show.

In an interview with Yahoo Japan posted yesterday, Daisuke Sasaki swore he will retire if he loses to Tetsuya Endo. He will end his wrestling career and go get a job overseas where he can work three days a week with no early morning shifts. He explained in the article that Endo stopped listening to his advice around the time he became the KO-D Openweight Champion. Endo would pretend to listen but turn a blind eye to Sasaki’s advice over fashion and hairstyling. Sasaki believes everyone else in DAMNATION turned on him because Endo bribed them. He also says he will have new black wrestling gear to wear for the title match.

Now is Sasaki being genuine with his gamble? In the past he has threatened to quit wrestling or vacate championships immediately after losing matches. So in normal circumstances he doesn’t take to losing well, especially when he’s been drinking. Could this just be an empty claim or even a self-motivational tactic? Or will this really be Sasaki’s last hurrah if he can’t beat Endo?

Today Thunder Rosa relinquished the International Princess Title on a video sent to Tokyo Joshi Pro. Due to the Coronavirus making overseas travel very difficult, Rosa’s scheduled title defences in March and April were both cancelled. With no opportunity to defend the title, Rosa and agreed with management to send the belt back to Japan. Rosa promised she will return to TJPW when it is safe to do so with the intention of winning back the championship. TJPW confirmed that Rosa getting a title match upon her return is of the highest priority. Until then, a new champion will be crowned in an 8-Woman tournament that will end at “WRESTLE PRINCESS” this November.

In order to crown a new champion, TJPW has to renege on the original concept for the title. The title was supposed to draw in challengers from around the world while also revitalizing Tokyo Joshi’s singles division in Japan (Princess Of Princess Title matches are few and far between so it offers something else for the roster to fight over). But since it is very difficult to bring in foreign wrestlers right now, only Japanese wrestlers are able to compete in the tournament. Entrants will be announced as soon as they are picked, taking into consideration the potential card for “WRESTLE PRINCESS”. If somebody on the roster already has a match at the Tokyo Dome City Hall then they won’t be in the tournament.

Last week CIMA got injured in a bicycle accident, leaving him with injuries to his head, neck and hands. However I guess CIMA will recover in time for his match at the end of the month because DDT hasn’t cancelled it yet. Soma Takao looks up to CIMA anyway. He probably won’t take advantage of this in a heinous way. Backstabbing Daisuke Sasaki, sure but not CIMA.

The Junretsu Vs ALL OUT tag is getting a runback. Konosuke Takeshita & Akito are both looking for ways to beat Jun Akiyama. You can’t leave Makoto Oishi out in the cold for this either.

Yesterday, Moeka Haruhi won a trios match against a team of wrestlers connected to each other by the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title. This victory inspired Haruhi to challenge Asuka for the title itself.

Ikuto Hidaka was impressed enough with his visit to Ganbare☆Pro yesterday that he wants to continue wrestling here. That’s good because Kouki Iwasaki told everyone he wants to beat him up. The match name makes it sound like Iwasaki is doing this to avenge Ken Ohka’s defeat to Hidaka but I’m not sure if Iwasaki cares enough about that to make it his main motivation.

The annual New Year’s Year tag team tournament held by Big Japan and DDT will go ahead this year but on a smaller scale. In order to prevent exposing fans to the Coronavirus, the event will start earlier in the evening and will only last for around 2 and a half hours. The tournament will be shortened down to 8 teams instead of the usual 16. Sadly that means there won’t be any wrestling going on inside Korakuen Hall when the clock strikes midnight to bring in 2021.
