IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT 2019

The IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT is back for a third go around and this time there is a big prize attached to it. The winners of this single elimination tournament will be crowned the first IRON FIST TAG Champions. This is happening at a time when BASARA is becoming independent from DDT. On paper the Union MAX Title match just added is a DDT Vs BASARA contest. However Masahiro Takanashi wants the match to just be about himself facing Ryuichi Sekine for the title. This isn’t about promotions or having allies like Sento Minzoku. It’s simply one on one to see who is better.

Unfortunately it has been confirmed that Kazusada Higuchi and Natsumi Maki are both unable to participate on the show because of their injuries.

Ryuichi Sekine overcame a spirited effort from SAGAT to defend the Union MAX Title. Afterwards SAGAT called Sekine the people’s champion and the older brother to the rest of the BASARA locker room (that means Isami Kodaka is the dad). Sekine said he will next defend the belt at Sumo Hall this November for DDT “ULTIMATE PARTY 2019!” and it can be against anybody. His challenged was answered when DDT’s Masahiro Takanashi came out! He told Sekine he wants to fight a strong champion so let him fight for the MAX Title. Sekine accepted and said he will win for BASARA. Takanashi told him this isn’t about DDT or BASARA. He is only wrestling for himself in this match. Sekine said that’s great. If Takanashi will wrestle on his own then so will Sekine.

Takumi Tsukamoto was given a bouquet to celebrate his recent 10th anniversary in wrestling. It was presented to him by the woman who designed his new ring gear. The UWA World 6-Man Tag Team Titles match was held under Tornado Tag rules. Tsukamoto used a Gory Special to position FUMA into a Backslide Pin for the victory. FUMA didn’t realise he was pinned and continued fighting with Tsukamoto after the match. While this was going on the Sparky wrestlers grabbed the UWA 6-Man Tag Titles and left the ring with them. The champion team then chased after them.

Jun Masaoka has been asking for a match with Isami Kodaka for some time. Today he finally got it. Kodaka pinned Masaoka with a Modified Samson Clutch when Masaoka left his guard down. Kodaka gave Masaoka the middle finger but Masaoka still asked him for a rematch.

The IRON FIST TAG TOURNAMENT (IFTT for short) will be held on the 13th and 23rd of October. The giant trophy was brought out and Kodaka entered the ring carrying two new championship belts. He announced that this year’s IFTT winners will be crowned the first IRON FIST Tag Team Champions! He joked the belts got made just in time before Japan’s consumption tax increase.

This is a fan event to mark the beginning of ticket sales for Tokyo Joshi’s 4th January show in Korakuen Hall. A low floor ring is being used for the three matches but there will also be other activities featuring most of the roster.

Autographs and ticket holders from Reika Saiki will be sold at the event with proceeds going towards her recovery from a fractured jaw. However Saiki herself will not be at the event. She tweeted her appreciation at Tokyo Joshi for putting together something to help her.

Whoever leaves the show as the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Champion is guaranteed to defend it in Sumo Hall this November. Keisuke Ishii was the champion before Shuichiro Katsumura won it off him back in January. Since then Katsumura has defended it five times. If he wins here then he will tie Ishii’s amount of successful defences.

Just to be clear, Kenichiro Arai is the Toryumon graduate and Yumehito Imanari is the art student.

Shota and Shinichiro Tominaga face each other in a battle between damaged ACLs.

Originally Koharu Hinata was booked for the show but she is now unable to appear. In a completely unrelated matter Miss Koharu became available so she takes her place.

Nakajima’s excursion to Mexico with CMLL will be over by the time this show takes place. No word yet on if she will be on this show but it’s likely. Tokyo Joshi have confirmed she will not be on the 9th, 10th and 16th November shows.

The summer has come to an end so DDT spent their final days of the season running one more Beer Garden show. The main event finish saw Nobuhiro Shimatani take the finishers from every member of the opposing team. The show ended with the DDT roster minus DAMNATION all having a toast inside the ring. HARASHIMA called on the fans to look forward to DDT’s next Korakuen Hall and Sumo Hall shows. Kazuki Hirata danced to “TOKYO GO!” until Ken Ohka hit him with the Fire Spear. Ohka told everyone that they have to continue fighting, even the wrestlers from BASARA and Ganbare☆Wrestling. It turns out NOAH is running Sumo Hall the day before “ULTIMATE PARTY 2019!” and Big Japan will be the day after. There is a wrestling world war going on and Ohka wants to win it!

Antonio Honda came prepared for his clash with Santino Marella and his dreaded Cobra but it had to be a last ditch plan. When Marella used the Cobra to strike Honda in his Gongitsune arm, Honda pulled out a recorder and played a snake charming song to make Marella lose control of the Cobra. Then Honda took out his secret weapon, a Gon The Fox hand puppet! The Fox bit the Cobra, leaving Honda in a weakened state. Honda went for the Shining Gongitsune but Marella caught him with the Cobra strike to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Honda told Marella that he wanted the Fox to eat the Cobra but it couldn’t because half of Marella’s heart is in Canada but the other half is in Japan! Marella told everyone that he learned Judo in Koshigaya, Saitama years ago. He is a retired pro wrestler but was happy to get the chance to unleash the Cobra in his second home.

Yukio Naya was the only person new to the spooky storytelling of the Shin Numabukuro Death Match. When he learned that a ghost story would be told if the match didn’t end in three minutes, he told everyone that he gets scared easily. Things were made even scarier when Su Yung entered the ring! The match was now a 5 Way and if it ended in three minutes then Yung would eat everyone! She attacked the trainee Keigo Nakamura and dragged him away from ringside. When she came back out she was carrying Nakamura’s detached arm! The three minutes ran out and everyone was terrified they were about to get eaten. Hisaya Imabayashi then revealed that this was the scary story! The fear of getting eaten by a zombie was exactly the kind of reaction he wanted to get this year. Danshoku Dieno asked if that meant no one would get eaten? Imabayashi said Yung could still eat somebody and he suddenly pointed at Dieno, making him faint. He then pointed at the others one by one, causing them all to faint. But when he pointed at Yung she didn’t react. Imabayashi woke everyone up and together they all pointed at Yung to defeat her. Imabayashi said the world is now protected and “Wild Thing” played over the sound system. But when he left the ring, zombie Nakamura appeared and ate him!

Daisuke Sasaki & Soma Takao came to the ring drinking beer. They said that due to demands from a “third party” their match against Jiro Kuroshio & Kazusada Higuchi is now a Drunk Match sponsored by Budweiser. A wrestler had to take a drink after a kick out or a rope break. Also everyone had to take a drink whenever music played. As the wrestlers got drunker, Sasaki and Takao got more and more into calling themselves Higuchi’s dad. Higuchi got drunk enough to consider it was possible and he ended up fighting Kuroshio instead. However he snapped out of it and used an Airplane Spin variation of the Doctor Bomb to pin Sasaki.

Toru Owashi asked for his tag match to be held under Lucha Rules. Puma King replied in Spanish and Yuki Ueno badly translated it. He said King called him “the nice guy in the white costume” and King called Owashi a “black pig”. Owashi later got mad at Tetsuya Endo and Yuki Ueno for doing a regular lock-up instead of lucha transitions. They began to trade Arm Drags until Yukinori Matsui got involved. Matsui did one and Endo punched him in the stomach afterwards. Owashi put Endo in the Paradise Lock then King put Owashi in the Paradise Lock. Ueno tried to do the move to King but didn’t know how to do it. King put Ueno in a Romero Special but Owashi crawled on top of King for a pin. Endo broke the pin, gave an Overhead Kick to Ueno and pinned him with La Magistral Cradle.

The Blindfold 3 Way match saw Kazuki Hirata and then Masahiro Takanashi both attack Keigo Nakamura outside the ring, knocking off his glasses in the process. Hirata picked up the glasses thinking they were his HIRATA GO glasses. He put them on but the music that played was “TOKIO” by Kenji Sawada. Mad Paulie found the HIRATA GO glasses and the usual “TOKYO GO” music played when he put them on. He struck Hirata while they danced and got the win with the Paulie Buster.

Gisele Shaw’s DDT debut was a successful one, teaming with Naomi Yoshimura & Saki Akai to defeat Akito, Shunma Katsumata & Asuka.

Cody Hall is the mystery wrestler in the opener. He met Antonio Honda and got along with him because the Gongitsune hand gesture resembles the Wolfpac gesture that Cody’s dad Scott Hall is known for.

The BOYZ brand is getting a fresh start under Akito’s management. The main event will feature the wrestlers involved wearing costumes from that clothing line.

Akito doesn’t remember ever seeing MAO wrestle Takeshita in a singles match so he decided to book it before MAO’s excursion. Kouki Iwasaki is being booked on BOYZ because Akito wants to see him interact with DDT wrestlers more often. Higuchi and Yuki Iino are also being booked despite their alliance to the YaroZ brand. Akito believes there are women at these shows who find those kind of men attractive too. Akito plans to present them in a way that makes them more suitable for the BOYZ brand. DAMNATION wrestlers are disallowed except for Nobuhiro Shimatani because he works under Akito at the Drop Kick Bar.

The American indy Game Changer Wrestling is currently making a splash in Japan and a visit to BASARA was on the cards for one G-Raver. The reason was simple, G-Raver wanted to avenge a loss to Isami Kodaka he suffered in GCW last year. The BASARA fans welcomed him with GCW chants but Kodaka was not so friendly towards him. The two sat down on chairs and hit each other with steel cans until Raver got busted open. Raver took over and put Kodaka through a table with a Diving Body Press out of the ring. A ladder came into play and Raver gave Kodaka a Suplex from the top of it. In the end Kodaka got the victory by hitting the Isamiashi Zan kick. Kodaka told G-Raver that he has beaten him twice now but is not against fighting him a third time. He called everyone in GCW crazy guys who came to Japan because they wanted to shed blood over here. He praised them for being a really crazy and good organisation. Kodaka & G-Raver shared beers and had a toast to GCW.

SAGAT was the last man standing in the Elimination Tag match. That was a big surprise for Ryuichi Sekine because he thought SAGAT was done for when he was knocked onto the edge of the apron. SAGAT fought back and stunned Sekine with a Headbutt. He then got back into the ring and hit Sekine from behind with the Goregrind for the upset win. SAGAT challenged Sekine to a Union MAX Title match afterwards.

Fuminori Abe was brought to wrestling court charged with lying about his education when he applied to join BASARA. He claimed to be a high school student when he is allegedly a junior high school student. Gouma Ryu defended Abe by saying he is a monk (he was dressed as one) so he does not do scams. Abe explained he attended high school at 16 but got suspended after a motorcycle accident. He dropped out of school three months later. Ryu and Banana Senga attacked Abe over this new found information but Abe fought both of them off. He then revealed that since dropping out he eventually returned to high school and graduated with a communications degree. The court declared him not guilty.

She fled to the mountains in Kyoto and became secluded from society after her husband’s death. Her time spent there seemed to have prevented her from ageing. She might be a demon but no one can confidently confirm it.

Yumehito Imanari had an emotional main event with Konosuke Takeshita that explained his infatuation with Takeshita’s mother. Keiko Takeshita scolded her son during the match whenever he was about to do something too violent like using a chair. When Takeshita fought to give Imanari the German Suplex, a voice began to speak over everything. It was the voice of Imanari’s heart. Everybody was told that Imanari’s mother passed away when he was only 20 years old, just 3 days after his first student club wrestling match. She never got to see him wrestle. When Imanari sees Keiko watching her son in the ring he wonders if his own mother would have watched him the same way if she was still alive. That’s why he admires Keiko and also why he wanted to wrestle Takeshita today. So they could both wrestle their best for their moms to see. By now Imanari was fighting back with tears in his eyes but Takeshita was able to hit the German Suplex to win.

After the match Takeshita told Imanari that if he ever feels lonely, he has his permission to call and talk to Keiko. Imanari said has spent the last 13 years of his life searching for maternal love. He found it when he met Konosuke and Keiko. But enough about that. Today’s show was stressful for Imanari to put together. He’s not in the mood to be entertained or pampered right now. Yuna Manase came down to the ring and cheered him up by singing “Soul’s Refrain” from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Imanari joined in while the ring filled with the other wrestlers. Manase left the ring during the performance but came back out wearing a red plugsuit! Imanari asked everyone if they wanted to do a third Pocchari Joshi show. If they do then everyone in the audience should bring their moms with them!

Keiko was involved in the main event because she was appointed as the special ambassador for the match. She came out wearing her son’s amateur wrestling singlet he used back in the 3rd grade. She said it fits her even though she weighs 86kg. She then confessed that she would like Imanari to hold her 86kg body. She also wanted to know if Akito was in attendance.

Hamuko Hoshi and Moeka Haruhi both did sexy poses in front of Daisuke Kiso during the opening trade offs. When Miss Mongol joined in, her pose made Kiso faint. Hoshi bit Haruhi’s arm because she was hungry. Later Mongol threw Haruhi face first into Kiso’s waist in the corner. Banny Oikawa tried to turn things around but Mongol cut her off and Hoshi pinned her with the Diving Body Press.

The Pocchaminator traveled back in time from the year 2050 to pocchaminate every human being with a high BMI level. The only person to stop it it Manah Connor. She was injected with nanomachines before the match but her heightened abilities didn’t seem to have any effect on her enemy. She received instructions from Colonel Hirotsugu Suyama on what to do but none of them worked. She tried calling Yuki Kamifuku but couldn’t get an answer. The Pocchaminator (P-800) took control of the match and was about to do a Choke Slam when Manah received a message from an unlikely source. It was the Stardom owner Rossy Ogawa! He reminded Yuna Manase that she is a Stardom graduate and encouraged her to fight back. Manah yelled the Stardom motto “Believe Now, Shine Tomorrow, We Are Stardom!” as she fought back against The Pocchaminator. Unfortunately The Pocchaminator hit a Lariat and made Manah give up to the Canadian Backbreaker.

When the match was over The Pocchaminator praised Manah Connor for being a great warrior. He warned her that Tokyo will be under future attacks and her pocchari body is the greatest weapon to stop them. Manah went back to being Yuna Manase and she thanked those who helped her. She told The Pocchaminator they should fight together and they left. But unknown to them a video was shown on the screen. It is The Pocchaminator 2! The P-1000 is coming after them!

Beauty Suzuki tried to Body Slam Himeka Arita but wasn’t strong enough to go through with it. Arita landed on top of Suzuki and got the pin.

The show began with Imanari demonstrating the πMAX3D technology he developed. He wore a VR headset while a scene from Manase’s gravure video played. Imanari became… engrossed in the video until Manase got into the ring and gave him a Stunner.
