The third annual D GENERATIONS CUP began as part of February’s “MEET & GREET & FIGHT” event. All eight competitors fought their first matches in the block stages. In the main event Kazuma Sumi kicked out of Yuya Koroku’s Fisherman’s Buster and stunned him with a Super Kick long enough to roll him over for the three count using the School Boy. Sumi said he was able to beat his toughest opponent in his first match of the tournament. He’ll beat everyone left to reach the top of the tournament. Koroku already knows he is in a bad position but thinks he can reach the final if he wins his two remaining matches.

The first tournament winner Takeshi Masada had a close call against Yuki Ishida (who had Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura lead him down to the ring). He got caught with a Leg Scoop Back Drop and then hit with the Flame Palm but Masada stretched his foot out to get a rope break. Masada then Power Bombed Ishida into the turnbuckles and won with the Chikara KOBU Mukimuki. Masada said he won the match as planned except not in the way he planned it. He admits he would have lost if it wasn’t for the rope break. This year’s tournament will be the toughest and most painful one for him yet. Ishida said he will have to switch gears for his next match.

Outright cheating was the name of the game for Ilusion. He ambushed Keigo Nakamura from behind before the bell, attacked his knee with chairshots and also by dropping him knee first on top of nearby railings. The damage seemed to prevent Nakamura from making a comeback but he pulled off a gutsy effort to keep fighting. So much so that Ilusion Dropkicked Daisuke Kiso from behind and attacked Nakamura with even more chairs. Nakamura fought back but missed a Diving Headbutt, landing face first onto one of the chairs. Ilusion continued the beatdown until Kiso recovered. That was when Ilusion hit the Swanton Bomb to finish off Nakamura. He told reporters after the match that he is going to destroy this shitty tournament just like DAMNATION T.A will destroy shitty units like SCHADENFREUDE International. Nakamura said he will get his justice when overcomes Ilusion’s foul play and gets a three count on him.

Yuni wanted to prove his worth against last year’s DGC winner To-y by fighting him shirtles and getting into a Chop battle that left his chest red. Yuni would get two counts from a Reverse Hurricanrana followed by a Dropkick as well as a Casadora Bomb. But he was done for when To-y gave him the Kojima Impact to win the match. To-y had praise for Yuni but pointed out his own chest suffered no damage from the Chop battle. His next opponent will be Sumi but the only person he is interested in fighting is Chris Brookes. Yuni is frustrated both by the result and also that he couldn’t hurt To-y with his Chops. He knows Koroku can break his arm with submissions and Sumi can pin him with the School Boy but Yuni will overcome both challenges on his path to become the youngest tournament winner in DDT history.

*V2 for Danshoku Dieno.
5. Road To D GENERATIONS CUP 2025! Special 8-Man Tag Match: To-y, Yuya Koroku, Yuni & Kazuma Sumi defeated Takeshi Masada, Keigo Nakamura, Ilusion & Yuki Ishida when Koroku submitted Nakamura with the Modified Triangle Lancer (12:53).
6. DDT Universal Title: Yuki Ueno defeated Gringo Loco (c) with the WR (15:40).
*Gringo Loco fails in V3. Yuki Ueno becomes the 17th DDT Universal Champion!
7. KO-D Openweight Title: Chris Brookes (c) defeated Shuji Ishikawa with the Ground Octopus Stretch (22:21).
*V2 for Chris Brookes.

The second KO-D Openweight Title defence is in the bag for Chris Brookes. He was given a big challenge in the form of Shuji Ishikawa so he took some big risks to try and beat him. He tried attacking him with a stapler but Ishikawa did the same to him. Brookes set up a table at ringside but Ishikawa put him through it with the Fire Thunder and then attacked him with the remains to make the champ bleed. Brookes was able to deal some damage with the Somato and Praying Mantis Bomb but Ishikawa kicked out of them. Ishikawa pulled out another Fire Thunder but Brookes kept on fighting, even kicking out after he was given the Kamigoye and the Splash Mountain. An opening was badly needed to reverse him fortunes and Brookes found one when he avoided the Giant Slam. He jumped onto Ishikawa and clamped him into the Octopus Stretch, pulling him down to the mat and tightening the hold until Ishikawa gave up.

Ishikawa declined to shake Brookes’s hand after the match and left the ring. Brookes was then met with Akito who was serving as the GM in place of Hisaya Imabayashi today. Akito told him the next KO-D Title match will be at DDT’s 28th Anniversary show in Korakuen Hall on 20th March. He asked if Brookes had an opponent in mind? Brookes said there are around 10 people he would like to defend the title against but right now he cannot think straight because of the match he just had. Akito told him he has until the 23rd February Korakuen show to nominate his challenger. Brookes then decided to sing some karaoke in place of Ishikawa, singing “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. But when he reached the chorus, Ishikawa suddenly returned to the ring to join in! He then shook Brookes’s hand and left again. Backstage he promised the next time he fights Brookes he will be singing The Beatles for karaoke afterwards.

The DDT Universal Title has spent the last two months travelling around North America with Gringo Loco. Today was the first time he was wrestling in Japan since winning the championship at DDT’s Seattle weekend back in November. Yuki Ueno was his opponent of choice and the two provided a match filled with high flying and high impact moves. There were plenty of Frankensteiners, Destroyers and Spanish Flies to be seen. Loco hit the Base Bomb onto the ring apron and also gave Ueno an Avalanche Falcon Arrow. However Ueno hit back with the Dropkick to the Face, a Reverse Hurricanrana and then the WR to win the match and become the new champion! The two shook hands and Ueno told Loco he will see him next time in America.

Ueno called the Universal Title a divine belt that he won again for the first time in years. As much as he would like to spend a month going overseas to defend the belt in countries like America and Mexico, there is another idea he wants to do first. When he thinks about who he could defend the title against, one person immediately came to mind. There is a “Pirate King” he fought last year that he would like to fight again and he finally has the treasure needed to lure him back to DDT. He wants Minoru Suzuki! Akito heard his request and said he will pass it on to Suzuki. A decision over whether or not the title match can happen will depend on Suzuki’s schedule.

With the D GENERATIONS CUP about to start next month, all eight participants were eager to show what they are made of in an 8-Man Tag preview. Well, most of them were. Ilusion spent the last few days complaining about being sick and not wanting to wrestle today so he was nowhere to be seen at the start. His team had to wrestle 4-on-3 until Ilusion finally showed up to attack Takeshi Masada even though they were meant to be partners. They continued to get in each other’s way, allowing Kazuma Sumi & To-y to both get some moves in on them. Keigo Nakamura also got involved trying stop Ilusion from attacking the other team with a chair, distracting him long enough for Masada to Super Kick him. So Ilusion decided to get revenge by attacking Masada with the chair, leaving Nakamura & Yuki Ishida to spend the rest of the match fighting 2 against 4. Ishida in particular used his sumo power to fend off To-y, Yuni & Sumi. That left Nakamura and Yuya Koroku fighting each other by themselves. Koroku blocked Nakamura’s Crucifix Pin and turned it into the Modified Triangle Lancer to get the tap out win for his team.

According to Danshoku Dieno the most important thing in the world is the next second you live so his DDT Extreme Title match against Gorgeous Matsuno only needed a One Count Pinfall to win. The rule meant Matsuno needed to be at his absolute best while his back was against the wall. He constantly kicked out of Dieno’s moves before the pins could be counted but as the match went on, everybody noticed that Dieno was hesitant to use the Lip Lock on his 63 year old opponent. Matsuno saw his chance to win when Dieno missed a Moonsault. He gave Dieno his own Lip Lock, causing Dieno to wretch and collapse to the mat. Matsuno then hit the Gorgeous Superstar Elbow onto Dieno’s back. But when he rolled Dieno over, Dieno caught him with an Inside Cradle to get the one count pin and win.

Matsuno accepted defeat and shook Dieno’s hand before leaving the ring. Akito then told Dieno there is one person he would like Dieno to defend the Extreme Title defence on 20th March. It’s Yuki Iino! Akito explained it is the one match DDT has been avoiding. Their history together as Pheromones continues to cause a lot of trouble because videos of their matches recently demonetized DDT’s Youtube channel. However Akito would like Dieno and Iino to face each other before Pheromones completely disappears from everyone’s memories. Dieno argued against the decision because he wants to decide when he will fight Iino, not DDT. Iino told Dieno it was never the company’s decision to make him quit Pheromones, it was his own. He is also challenging Dieno for the Extreme Title out of his own free will, not because Akito asked him to do it. Akito ensured the two they can do whatever they want in the match as long as it results in the best Extreme Title bout ever. Dieno said he will do it but on one condition. Hisaya Imabayashi must be the referee! Akito agreed to his request and said he will take full responsibility for everything that will happen to Imabayashi.

The next challengers for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles made themselves known after they beat DAMNATION T.A in a non-title bout. Tomomitsu Matsunaga used KANON’s momentum against him and used an Arm-Trap Cradle to get the three count. Afterward he said he can sense the team of himself, Jun Akiyama & HARASHIMA are good enough to fight Daisuke Sasaki, KANON & MJ Paul again this time with the titles on the line. Akito agreed and booked a title match for 5th February at Shinjuku FACE. Matsunaga promised his team will turn the world upside down when they win the titles from DAMNATION T.A!

When Antonio Honda was winding up his Bionic Elbow in Match #2, MAO quickly removed his own wrestling gear to reveal he was wearing his Antonio Honda XL costume underneath. The two then did mirror spots to Toru Owashi and Masahiro Takanashi before fighting each other in a mirrored setting. MAO ended up becoming the better Honda by reversing the Japanese Leg Roll Clutch for the pinfall. They played Honda’s victory music after the match anyway.

The teenage heavyweight Daichi Sato wanted to fight Yukio Naya directly, leaving Yuki Iino to put away Soma Takao without much danger to worry about.

During the show Kazuasada Higuchi made an appearance to announce his return from injury. He had taken time off from wrestling last June to recover from several injuries including a cervical hernia. Higuchi told the fans he will return on 20th March because the ring means everything to him.

More details were announced for DDT’s collaboration with the anime “Brave Bang Bravern”. There will be merchandise of the characters Isami Ao & Lewis Smith dressed up as Yuki Ueno & MAO under the tag team name Brave Knights. Also on 23rd February DDT will host the pro wrestling debut of the Bravern, the anime’s star mecha! Bravern’s wrestling costume will be designed by the anime’s director Masami Obari.

7. New Year’s Six Great Singles Match: Takeshi Masada defeated Yuki Iino with an Inside Cradle (8:48).
8. New Year’s Six Great Singles Match: Chris Brookes Vs To-y ended in a Time Limit Draw (10:00).

The Fan Appreciation show was built around six singles matches pitting veterans against some of the young entrants in the upcoming D GENERATIONS CUP tournament. The matches only had a ten minute time limit and it ended up with two of the matches going to a draw. The main event was one of those matches with To-y lasting long enough not to be beaten by Chris Brookes. However Brookes told him after the match it will be Takeshi Masada who will win the tournament and face Brookes for the KO-D Openweight Title, not To-y (Masada scored the only upset win today by beating Yuki Iino). In a burst of emotion To-y called Brookes selfish and promised when he wins the tournament he will challenge Brookes and kill him for the title!

The other time limit draw came from Yuya Koroku fighting the far more experienced Jun Akiyama. In the final minute of the match he kicked out of both the Exploder Suplex and an exposed Running Knee Strike. Akiyama smiled at Koroku after the match and praised him for his efforts.

Akito suggested to make Yukio Naya the official substitute for Kazuki Hirata because they love the same anime shows (Steins;Gate, Re:Zero and Attack On Titan). He quickly regretted the idea when Naya immediately won the match instead of losing like Hirata does. They restarted the match and this time Naya behaved more like Hirata does. He wore the ring announcer’s glasses for the dance spot and also used the Miracle One Shot Cradle to get the win. Akito came to the conclusion that it’s just not the same without Hirata around and he hopes he comes back soon. Everyone then suddenly heard Hirata’s voice telling them they finally realised how important he is!

Hirata’s music played and he came down to the ring on crutches to give everyone an announcement. He will be recovered in time for him to hold a special show celebrating the 15th Anniversary of his debut in March at Shinjuku FACE! He later explained his injury was first diagnosed as a torn ACL. He then got a second opinion at a bigger hospital, was told his ACL was fine and he would be able to wrestle again once the swelling goes away. He reckons he will be back in action at the end of February. He was never able to celebrate his 10th Anniversary because of the pandemic so this 15th Anniversary show will let him do what he couldn’t do five years ago.

5. KO-D Tag Team Titles: MAO & To-y (c) defeated Yuni & Kazuma Sumi when MAO pinned Sumi with the Ultra Big Tone (21:09).
*V1 for The 37KAMIINA.
6. Special Tag Match: Shuji Ishikawa & Jun Akiyama defeated Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada when Ishikawa pinned Masada with the Splash Mountain (18:45).
-. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title: Tetsu Inada defeated Poison Sawada JULIE by Pinfall (7:41 pm).
*Tetsu Inada becomes the 1,708th champion.

Shuji Ishikawa appreciated getting help from Jun Akiyama to beat SCHADENFREUDE International in the main event. Antonio Honda actually distracted the referee so Chris Brookes could attack Ishikawa with a chairshot to the head. However Ishikawa hit back with a Headbutt to Brookes while the chair was still wrapped around his neck. He then went on to pin Takeshi Masada with the Splash Mountain. As much as Ishikawa would like to celebrate the win with some karaoke, he told the fans he will wait until he wins the KO-D Openweight Title on 26th January. Honda motivated Brookes by telling him he can overcome anything, just like how Honda overcame his lovesickness today to make to the venue in time to try and help him.

When MAO recently used AI to predict how a match between himself and Kazuma Sumi would turn out, it said he would win using a mystery move called the Ultra Big Tone. Today MAO figured out what that move is and he successfully used it on Sumi to defend the KO-D Tag Team Titles! The Ultra Big Tone starts off as a Lifting Reverse DDT and flips over into a Sitout Facebuster. This is all done from jumping off the second rope too. He praised Sumi & Yuni for being tough challengers while being so young. He heard the ultimate goal for NωA Jr. is to someday perform as idols at the Tokyo Dome. He will cheer them on to reach that goal because the previous NωA never could. While they go do that, he will try his best to bring DDT back to Budokan Hall! Meanwhile To-y said the match gave him a taste of what to expect from the D GENERATIONS CUP. He will chew up the competition there before going back to defending the KO-D Tag Titles again.

As mentioned earlier, Honda was dealing with a bout of lovesickness throughout the day that delayed him from making the show until the main event. His scheduled match with Yuki Ueno had to change into something else. Ueno was now put into a Rock ‘N’ Roll Death Match against his new opponent A.YAZAWA! The two wrestlers danced along to music while fighting and Ueno unexpectedly powered himself up by putting on a pair of Hirata GO! glasses! With these glasses he quickly learned how to do the Miracle One Shot Cradle and he used the move to beat YAZAWA.

Keigo Nakamura really wanted to test himself against Yuya Koroku even when his tag partner Shinya Aoki had Koroku beaten with the Full Nelson Hold. Nakamura called out to him and demanded to be tagged in. Aoki recluctantly agreed. That idea almost backfired when Koroku put Nakamura in the Chickenwing Arm Lock. But Nakamura was able to counter it with a Crucifix Pin to get the three count. Aoki admitted to Nakamura he thought they were going to lose the match after he tagged in Nakamura and he was only able to win by a fluke. Nakamura argued he didn’t make any mistake because they ended up winning instead.

Hirata was certainly missed by the wrestlers today. His absence due to injury made some of them so sad that Hisaya Imabayashi decided to turn one of the matches into a tribute for him. Match #2 was turned into a Bunkhouse Scramble Death Match with a pair of Hirata GO! glasses placed in the middle of the ring for everyone to fight over. However everybody fought while ignoring the glasses which made the GM angry. Soma Takao eventually picked up the glasses but used them to stab Danshoku Dieno in the backside. Soma didn’t want to wear them at that point so he decided instead to give Yuki Ishida the Perfect Driver onto them to win.

After beating DAMNATION T.A in the opening bout, HARASHIMA said backstage he would like to challenge them for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. He’ll need to find two wrestlers to team with first, which shouldn’t be difficult for him.

The show ended with an unexpected appearance from Poison Sawada JULIE. He came to the venue today annoyed that nobody has come to challenge him for the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. His annoyance only grew backstage when several DDT wrestlers declined to fight him because they were busy with other things so Sawada went out to ringside at the end of the show. Sanshiro Takagi and Imabayashi both confronted him but he fought them off using his Snake Magic. Then suddenly the voice actor Tetsu Inada pulled out a mirror and deflected the magic back at Sawada, knocking him out into a petrified state. Inada then pinned Sanada to win the Iron Man Title and Imabayashi ushered him away from ringside. Inada told reporters backstage it was always his dream as a child to become a pro wrestler and win a cool looking championship. He understands the terrifying threat that comes with this title and called out for any voice actors? to come challenge him should they ever see him in the studio!

Before the show began, Dieno held a public contract signing for the DDT Extreme Title match against Gorgeous Matsuno on 26th January. Matsuno was not present for the signing but the two had already agreed to the stipulation. It will be a Life’s Sparkle Match where only a 1 Count Pinfall is needed to win.

D GENERATIONS CUP 2025 Schedule

January 17, 2025

The schedule for this year’s D GENERATIONS CUP has been released. Not only that but the date for the winner’s prize is now known too. The tournament champion will get a KO-D Openweight Title match in April!

Every block match has a 15 minute time limit. The final will have no time limit. Wins are worth 2 points, losses are worth 0 points and most kind of draws are worth 1 point. Any match that ends in a Double Countout or a No Contest will result in both wrestlers getting 0 points. Head-to-head results will be used as a tiebreaker but if that does not work then a sudden death playoff will go ahead.

1. Toru Owashi defeated Yuki Ishida with Choke Slam (8:15).
2. KANON defeated Kazuma Sumi with the Sleepy Hollow (8:45).
3. Daisuke Sasaki, MJ Paul & Ilusion defeated Akito, Kohei Kinoshita & Yuya Koroku when Sasaki submitted Koroku with the Crossface Lock (10:45).
4. Special Single Match: Demus defeated Antonio Honda with an Inside Cradle (12:10).
5. Yuki Ueno, MAO & To-y defeated Jun Akiyama, Yuki Iino & Keigo Nakamura when To-y pinned Nakamura with the Kojima Impact (13:49).
6. Special Tag Match: Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada defeated Danshoku Dieno & Yukio Naya when Brookes pinned Dieno with the Danshoku Praying Mantis Bomb (21:10).

HARASHIMA was pulled from today’s show on short notice due to a fever so Yukio Naya replaced him in the main event. This gave Chris Brookes a chance to experiment his game plan against Shuji Ishikawa by wrestling the similarly sized Naya in his place. He and Takeshi Masada took Naya out of the ring, taped him to a nearby cart and wheeled him into an empty storage room beneath the stage. Naya was able to free himself and return to the match but Brookes went on to beat Danshoku Dieno. He used a Danshoku version of the Praying Mantis Bomb to pin him. During the match Brookes was tricked into giving Masada the Lip Lock. After the match he complained about Masada’s breath and asked him what he ate today?

As the D GENERATIONS CUP draws nearer, To-y looks to be gaining the most momentum going into it. He pinned Keigo Nakamura in what could be a potential preview of the tournament final if things go both their ways. To-y used this victory to declare that when he wins the tournament, he will go on to win the KO-D Openweight Title. Then DDT will become Dramatic Dream Toy! MAO ended up getting confused at the start of this match because he couldn’t tell if the “Yuki” chants were for Yuki Ueno or Yuki Iino.

The language barrier got in the way between Antonio Honda and Demus. Honda struggled to get his Gongitsune joke going but Demus surprised everyone by singing the Miyuki Nakajima song “Tapestry” in response.

Kohei Kinoshita was called in at the last minute to take Naya’s place in Match #3.

1. MJ Paul & Demus defeated Yuki Iino & Yuki Ishida when Demus pinned Ishida with La Valagueza (8:42).
2. Yukio Naya, Keigo Nakamura & Yuya Koroku defeated Daisuke Sasaki, KANON & Ilusion when Nakamura pinned Ilusion with the Modified Crucifix Pin (13:10).
3. Special Single Match: To-y defeated Tomomitsu Matsunaga with the Kojima Impact (10:09).
4. KOTATSU FIGHTING! Special 6-Man Tag Match: Danshoku Dieno, Yuki Ueno & Jun Akiyama defeated Makoto Oishi, Soma Takao & Antonio Honda when Ueno pinned Honda with a Kotatsu-Style Samson Clutch (14:09).
5. Special Single Match: MAO defeated Kazuma Sumi with the Iai Kick (13:55).
6. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Shuji Ishikawa, HARASHIMA & Akito defeated Chris Brookes, Masahiro Takanashi & Takeshi Masada when Ishikawa pinned Takanashi with the Splash Mountain (20:00).

The size and power of Shuji Ishikawa is something SCHADENFREUDE International couldn’t beat today. Having HARASHIMA & Akito by Ishikawa’s side helped too but the key moment happened when he blocked the Praying Mantis Bomb and then Back Body Dropped Chris Brookes into his own partners. He then pinned Masahiro Takanashi with the Splash Mountain. Ishikawa told the fans he was advised by one of the referees not to sing today if he won. His desire to sing along with his desire to beat Brookes are what powered him up today. He also decided to call his team Smile Squash 2025. Both HARASHIMA & Akito were just as suprised as everyone else when he said that. Backstage Antonio Honda told Brookes if he can overcome Ishikawa he will become an even better KO-D Openweight Champion. Meanwhile Takeshi Masada promised to win the D GENERATIONS CUP for the second time.

The night before this show MAO asked the Grok AI program to predict how his match with Kazuma Sumi would turn out. He was left confused when the AI said he had a finishing move called the Ultra Big Tone. MAO was able to win the match but didn’t use that move because he doesn’t know what it is. He can kind of picture it though so it is now up to him to figure out what the Ultra Big Tone will be! To-y wonders if it involves a destructive ray of some kind? Sumi said there is still a week to go before the KO-D Tag Team Titles match so if there is even a 1% chance he can beat MAO he will take that chance.

It was a cold day so two kotatsu tables were set up in the ring for Match #4. The wrestlers who would usually stand in their corner waiting to tag in were instead allowed to sit under their kotatsu. Eventually the tables and covers were used as weapons as the match heated up. Yuki Ueno ended up using a Samson Clutch on Honda to pin him beneath one of the tables to win the match. With this match Ueno learned that a kotatsu can calm the mind but it also lowers your fighting ability. He also blamed Jun Akiyama for breaking one of the tables.
