A few other matches have bodies swapped around which somehow left Pom Harajuku now having to go face Miyu Yamashita all by herself.

A rare opportunity has come up for someone to break the record of becoming the youngest KO-D Openweight Champion ever. One day after Daichi Sato turns 18 years old he will challenge the new champion MAO for DDT’s biggest prize.
Shunma Katsumata has decided this run as the DDT Extreme Champion will be spent feeling how his challengers take in pro wrestling. Kumadori is first up with the dancer wanting to go as far as he can so he can be seen as something other than a guest wrestler by DDT fans.
There will be a full reunion of Smile Squash to mark Soma Takao’s impending exit from DDT. All four mainstay members will be reunited for the first time since 2017 for an 8-Man Tag Match.

The main event has been decided for the very last wrestling show held inside Shinjuku FACE and it is the most fitting one they could have thought of. The main event of the very first show held in the venue 21 years ago was Mayumi Ozaki & Dynamite Kansai against Aja Kong & Manami Toyota. Only Ozaki and Kong are still active out of those four so they are going against each other in another tag match. This time Kong is teaming up with Chihiro Hashimoto from Sendai Girls while Ozaki must fight side by side with Sareee!
You can’t close down Shinjuku FACE if Kuroshio TOKYO Japan never finishes his entrance! Maybe the same goes for if Dragon Kid horizontally grabs onto a ring post and wiggles his body out of reach for the staff to grab him. Can’t rely on Yuma Aoyagi, he won’t do anything about it.
The participants in the Battle Royal will not be revealed until the day of the show. It will be a Royal Rumble style match.
The match order other than the main event will not be decided until the day of the show.

Today at a press conference held at AbemaTowers in Shibuya it was announced that Soma Takao will be leaving DDT to become a freelancer at the end of next month. His final match as a DDT wrestler will be held at Shinjuku FACE on 27th September. He will also be stepping down as the manager of the Dropkick Bar around the same time he leaves DDT. Takao said that after turning 38 years old recently he decided it was time for him to do something new for a career while also doing the kind of pro wrestling he wants to do.
Both Sanshiro Takagi and Akito were at the press conference and gave their opinions on Takao’s decision to leave DDT. Akito said he debuted in the same year that Takao did so it is sad for him to see someone from his generation leaving the company. He accepts his decision and understands Takao has a desire to wrestle at his own pace whereas he would not get that sense of freedom all of the time staying in DDT. The company will continue to support Takao in his final months with them and they plan to continue booking him as a freelancer on a regular basis.
Takagi spoke about how Takao came to DDT. The company was going through a crucial period in 2009 with their first Sumo Hall show coming up and they were desperately looking for a new homegrown wrestler to debut there. Takao came to them from the student wrestling scene and made his debut a short time later. Takagi admitted he asked Takao to do some unreasonable things over the years but he was able to do each one of them and grow as a wrestler. He can’t help but express a little sadness at the news and promised to do whatever he can to help him.
To begin the final period of Takao’s DDT career, he will be part of a Smile Squash reunion match being held on 30th August. Takao will team up with HARASHIMA, Yasu Urano & Akito one more time for an 8-Man Tag Match. Takao was part of several units during his time in DDT including Team Dream Futures and DAMNATION but he has many happy memories with Smile Squash. Among his favorite highlights Takao said taking part in a “Young Wrestlers” tournament with the rest of his generation, getting to be in the ring with CIMA and winning the KO-D Tag Team Titles three times. The unit he felt most attached to was Team Drift because not only did they work hard in DDT but they all got to tour All Japan together too. As for the future, Takao has things he is thinking about doing but does not want to talk about them until they come to fruition.

It will soon be time to say goodbye to Soma Takao. Maybe. He’s not retiring and if he does continue to get booked we’ll still hear from him likely at Ganbare☆Pro and Super Japan shows. This news has me feeling a little sentimental because Takao was one of the first young wrestlers from what is now known as the Young Communication Generation that cropped up around the same time I began this website. One of the earliest pieces of trivia I kept track of was Takao’s winning streak at “WRESTLE PETER PAN” because he won his debut on the first edition in 2009 and went unbeaten there until 2022! I don’t even think DDT realised that because how much fun would it be to do a WrestleMania winning streak parody with a mid card wrestler who loses the rest of the year?
To be honest when DDT put out the tease yesterday that Takao would have some news, I was expecting a retirement. He just came back from injury and hadn’t kept it secret he was slowing down and feeling pretty banged up. Instead he still has some mileage left. I can see him teaming up with Shota some more so ROMANCE DAWN will continue. Otherwise like I said above, places like GanPro and Super Japan would be good fits for where he shows up in the near future.

The DDT Universal Title now belongs to a New Japan wrestler. Ryusuke Taguchi is now the champion and his performance drew out Daisuke Sasaki to challenge him for the belt. Sasaki remembers losing to Taguchi at the Best Of The Super Jr. way back in 2012. That memory of Taguchi being so strong has stayed with Sasaki and that is the version of Taguchi he wants to fight again.
Rukiya is expected to be ready in time to fight for the KO-D Tag Team Titles at the end of the month. He better be because this was his idea in the first place. Shinya Aoki might be risking his RIZIN fight next month for this! Junta Miyawaki will also get reminded of his home in NOAH by stepping across the ring from Jun Akiyama once more.
Kumadori will be on the show.

Whoever enters the Battle Royal as the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion will receive the prize of a year long bullet train pass to be used whenever DDT books the person for a show held outside of Tokyo.
The Right To Challenge Gauntlet holders heading into tomorrow are Hideki Okatani (Red), To-y (Blue) and KANON (Purple AAAA). If there’s ever an important and dramatic place to cash at least one of them in, it will be at Sumo Hall.

The middle of the show is going to get extreme because the DDT Extreme Title match between Hideki Okatani and Shunma Katsumata is going to be a Barbed Wire Death Match!

The Tokyo Idol Festival is over and Tetsuya Koda has come out of it as the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion. The Tokyo Joshi Pro boss pulling off this stunt does not impress the DDT GM Hisaya Imabayashi. The two authority figures have been at each other’s throats on and off for years. The Iron Man Champion is meant to be wrestling on tomorrow’s DDT show which means Koda now has to take part. Such an idea is insulting to Imabayashi so he is adding himself to the match in response to this so he can teach Koda a lesson that DDT is not the place for amateurs in their fifties!
Going into tomorrow’s show the Right To Challenge holders are Shunma Katsumata (Red), Viento Levante (Blue) and KANON (Purple).

The other end of the bracket has Suzume against Shoko Nakajima in what is sure to be a barnburner. HIMAWARI can set off a Cinderella run if she can defeat last year’s finalist Arisu Endo. The same could be said for Toga if her frozen demeaner doesn’t melt against Yuki Aino’s fire. After this round the brackets will get jumbled up for the final four which makes predicting this round a little bit more difficult than it looks on paper.

The DDT comedy wrestlers are looking for new additions to their “Variety Team”. They are holding an audition and it is mandatory for the wrestlers they invited to take part in it.
This DDT show is going to be a small one because it is more like a fan event with some matches taking place rather than a full on wrestling show. Only one more match is planned to be added to the card.

Earlier this week GanPro gave an update on Munetatsu Nakamura’s condition. It’s been confirmed he tore his ACL in his right knee and he will need to go under surgery for it. The surgery is scheduled for 31st August and once GanPro sees how his rehabilitation progresses they will begin working out when he can be expected to wrestle again.

This September Shinjuku FACE will be closing down after 21 years of hosting wrestling shows and other events inside the heart of Tokyo’s nightlife. The final week of the venue’s business will consist of 12 shows from different wrestling promotions and personalities. It is called the Shinjuku FACE Countdown Series and below is the schedule of events for those who would like to keep track of it.
The final event is taking place on Shinjuku FACE’s last day of business. The show is being produced by DDT and CyberFight, similar to last year’s 20th Anniversary event. That was pretty much a glorified DDT lineup with special guests from other companies added in so I expect the series finale to be something along those lines.

During the end of July and the start of August Tokyo Joshi Pro will be involved quite heavily with the Tokyo Idol Festival. Over the course of three days there will be six TJPW events mixing pro wrestling and idol concerts together. Each portion will only consist of two wrestling matches each and there are a lot of unusual ideas going into all of them.

There’s also a mascot showing up too! Tama is a bipedal seal and self-proclaimed social misfit from an educational TV series about working part time jobs. Apparantly one of Tama’s previous part-time jobs was with FC Machida Zelvia so there’s the CyberAgent connection coming into play. As for the other match Zahrachahiyoni Saito is from fishbowl and Rio Ohmori is from Ma’Scar’Piece.

Despite also being an idol, it seems Momo Sato will only be wrestling one time during the entire festival. Marina Kumamoto is from Niji no Conquistador. That is the idol unit Miyu Yamashita had to go train with before “GRAND PRINCESS ’26” earlier this year. Sayonara Stay Tuned and ChumToto are both idol units so one side of the ring is going to be pretty crowded during that match.

This is the full lineup for “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2026” but the match order has not been decided yet outside of the main event. Yuki Ueno got one over on MAO this past weekend by making him tap out to a Sleeper Hold. He thinks MAO isn’t hitting the heights of his potential for what should be the most important KO-D Openweight Title challenge of his career. MAO is certain he still has that crazy side of himself, it’s just that he has matured a little bit so he can be ready to become DDT’s champion.
There is a shadow following Hideki Okatani’s reign as DDT Extreme Champion that he needs to vanquish next. He needs to defend the belt against Shunma Katsumata! They have fought over the title two times before with Katsumata winning both times as champion. The first match in 2023 was an important stepstone for Okatani because it was his entry into hardcore wrestling. That match was also where Katsumata injured his leg and had to vacate the title afterwards. When he returned and won it back in 2024, Okatani was one of Katsumata’s first defences during that title reign.
A partnership forged in fire has made Shinya Aoki & Junta Miyawaki decide to chase after the KO-D Tag Team Titles together. They previously fought Chris Brookes & HARASHIMA for No. 1 Contendership over the titles back in March. FANTÔMES DRAMATIC won that match and went on to become the champions so there is plenty of setup for the rematch.
DDT are giving Hinata Kasai a tough challenge if he wants to get his first win while teaming with his dad Jun Kasai. They will take on Jun Akiyama and his DDT protege Rukiya.
Minoru Suzuki & Sanshiro Takagi are joining forces after years of being enemies inside the ring, outside the ring, at an empty Tokyo Dome and even on a bullet train. The strength of their alliance will depend on how annoying Kazuki Hirata & To-y will be in front of them.
Speaking of bullet trains, Raku now holds the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. Whoever enters the Battle Royal as the champion will get a bullet train pass for one year to use whenever DDT books them for shows held outside of Tokyo. I’m not sure if that also applies to Tokyo Joshi Pro if Raku gets the prize.

Last but not least, Kumadori will be on the show.

Moeka Haruhi and Rydeen Hagane were not on the same page during their tag match over the weekend. They blamed each other for losing that match so the obvious direction to go is have them wrestle each other to settle their differences.

It’s been over a year since Kota Sekifuda left Big Japan to go freelance. The first anniversary of his debut in Baka Gaijin + Friends is happening in August too so his present is a match against Minoru Suzuki.
The live music lineup for “FUCKED UP FEST 2026” includes a lot of bands with wrestlers in it. They are Dos Quatro (MAO), Daisetz (Antonio Honda), NωA Jr. (Shunma Katsumata, Kazuma Sumi & Yuni), Channel D (Daisuke Sasaki) and Super P And The Space Bandits (Filipino wrestler Super P). So those might be the clues as to who else will be wrestling on the show.
