DDT welcomed two guests from NOAH over to their show today. Kaito Kiyomiya & Yoshiki Inamura sat at ringside to watch Yuki Ueno in the main event. After the match Ueno called them to approach the ring and meet him face to face. They did and things remained calm between the two sides. Kiyomiya said backstage that he wanted to see something from his opponents before “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2021” takes place in June. He could sense Ueno’s feelings just from looking at him so he has a lot of info to analyze from that alone. Inamura is disappointed that Konosuke Takeshita wasn’t there but that won’t stop him hitting the guy with all his power when the match happens.

Both Chris Brookes and Saki Akai are keeping an eye on each other. Brookes thought he was going to push Akai up another gear today but understands it wasn’t necessary. All he wants to know is if the one in a hundred chance of Akai beating him will show up at Korakuen Hall next month. Akai does wish she did more in the ring today and wonders if she should think more selfishly. She knows she won’t become a double champion if she can’t surpass Brookes’ strength.

Keigo Nakamura met with Hisaya Imabayashi to ask for a shot at the KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Titles. When he said his team is all of the young DDT rookies (Nakamura, Hideki Okatani, Toui Kojima & Yuya Koroku), Imabayashi refused because the four of them have no track record as a team. Nakamura then challenged Sanshiro Takagi directly and he was turned down for the same reason. Akito encouraged Takagi to change his mind but couldn’t get him to do so. Their tag match was then called off when Nakamura followed Danshoku Dieno’s advice to a hilt and both tried to get naked in the ring to show how passionate they are. Imabayashi accepted Nakamura’s argument that he was being passionate and ordered Takagi to accept the challenge.

This week Tokyo Sports reported that SKE48 idol Yuki Arai was going to attend this weekend’s Tokyo Joshi Pro show in Korakuen Hall. Arai, who in 2018 wrestled a match in DDT and is a former Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion, was expected to announce she was joining TJPW to become an active pro wrestler and her “re-debut” match was taking place on 4th May. TJPW pushed their announcement to today and confirmed the news is true.

Arai’s previous involvement with pro wrestling outside of DDT was with the Tofu Pro Wrestling project where she used the name Bubbly Arai. When she had her match in DDT, Sanshiro Takagi was impressed with her performance and has held discussions with SKE48 management since then over getting her to continue wrestling. Arai wants to work as both an idol and a pro wrestler so for the moment her deal is to wrestle one match a month while Miyu Yamashita helps trains her. She is currently preparing her theme music and wrestling outfit. One of her goals is to avenge losing the Iron Man Title to Maki Itoh. Also attending the show is another SKE48 idol, Jurina Matsui. She will be there to support Arai.

Yuki Ueno is taking it personally when Soma Takao calls him a weak champion. He’s beaten some amazing wrestlers in his title reign and he feels bad for them when Takao pinned him at Korakuen last weekend. It’s a frustrating feeling but it made him think. It would be frustrating for Takao is if he loses to the “weak champion” in a main event championship match at Korakuen Hall. So Ueno convinced Hisaya Imabayashi to make the DDT UNIVERSAL Title match the main event of “MAX BUMP 2021”. Takao complained and said he should be fighting the weak champion in the dark match. He agreed to it anyway because he thinks Ueno will only nominate weak replacements if he turned it down. He got under Ueno’s skin further by pouring a drink over his head during the press conference.

The double title match will not have any extra stipulations added to it. Chris Brookes decided it will be a normal singles match after he thought about Saki Akai’s challenge to him last week. He found out Akai last had a singles title match five years ago and she only got the shot by winning a Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament. He has a lot of respect for her and wants to show it by facing her in a regular rules match. Akai understands she might lose this match 99 times out of 100 but she will take that chance to become a double champion.

Kikutaro will be on the show. He had trouble travelling to America last month using an ESTA instead of his work visa because it expired. The immigration officer checking him believed he was trying to enter the country illegally to work. Kikutaro claims he was only visiting to sort out a matter with his home in Las Vegas. The result was Kikutaro getting detained for two days and then deported back to Japan. He thinks he was discriminated against and is trying to clear his name through the Japanese Embassy. For now he has to stay in Japan.

The Sparky pair of Ryota Nakatsu & SAGAT have been pretty successful and gotten even better with their new tag team finishing move. The Big Mac where Nakatsu (plus another if it is a trios match) jumps onto SAGAT’s back and they all splash down onto the victim. That will give Isami Kodaka & Daiki Shimomura plenty to chew on when the IRON FIST Tag Titles are on the line.

Every week on Monday and Thursday mornings in Japan “THAT’S J-PW” will host an exclusive TJPW match filmed without an audience and a Q&A session, all presented in English. Chris Brookes & Baliyan Akki will provide commentary and the episodes will last around 15 minutes each. Tetsuya Koda explained the name has a double meaning. The J in “THAT’S J-PW” stands for both Japan and Joshi.

A criticism that has been aimed towards Nao Kakuta since she started wrestling for TJPW is that she is too normal to stand out. Even her challenge to Yuki Kamifuku for the International Princess Title was considered plain or even a bit boring according to the champion. Kakuta thinks it is fine to be normal. She can be called the Normal Of Normal Princess as far as she is concerned. Her other nickname is “Rat Chaser” (she used to have a catgirl gimmick) and she found her rat in the form of Kamifuku. All she has to do now is catch her! Kakuta also said that she has no senpai or kohai figures in TJPW because she came from somewhere else so she feels comfortable enough to stretch out and use her own fighting styles that she likes.

When Kiryu challenged her for the International Princess Title this week, the champion knew it must take place in Narimasu for that reason.

Sakisama & Mei Saint-Michel will be on the show. Two things happen every time NEO Biishiki-gun reappear in Tokyo Joshi Pro. Sakisama and her loyal partner go after the Princess Tag Titles and they end up feuding with the newer members of the roster. Suzume & Sena Shiori look to be the feud if Saint-Michel’s immediate opinion on them is anything to go by.

Long ago, way back in February of this year Homoiro Clover Z reunited at a BOYZ show. Their return was met with defiance from the also reunited NωA and the two sides argued over who the real music idols of DDT were. As a member of both units, Makoto Oishi was stuck in the middle and unable to choose a side. A decision was made to do an Oishi Contra Oishi match with the winners getting Oishi all to themselves. The idea was forgotten about when BOYZ came back in August but it’s happening here on Christmas Eve! Oishi has to wrestle for both teams too.

There is one other match to be announced.

Last year, Ryuji Ito and Shunma Katsumata were meant to team up for the Shuffle Tag Tournament but Ito caught the flu and couldn’t compete. They eventually got to team up in Big Japan and Katsumata wants to give back to Ito for opening the door into death matches for him. Ito has been called a death match artist so Katsumata wants to be the “Death Match Makeup Artist”. According to him this match will be his Big Japan Coloring Project.

There is one other match planned for the show.

Fuminori Abe is the new Union MAX Champion but he only won it because Masahiro Takanashi suffered a freak injury two minutes into their match. Takanashi is giving Abe his support because hey, this is the pro wrestling business. Injuries happen all the time and winning a championship that way doesn’t make it any less legitimate in Takanashi’s eyes. Abe has promised to remain the champion until Takanashi recovers from his fractured fibula.

If this Chiba show goes ahead, Abe could be fighting against the current IRON FIST Tag Champions. That match will also be Tetsuo Usui’s first proper main event (excluding a bonus multi-man tag back in January).
