Next Generation Tournament ’25

September 22, 2025

Now in its third year the Next Generation Tournament has become established as Tokyo Joshi Pro’s annual showcase for its rookie wrestlers. The first two tournaments were put together particularly to highlight the wrestlers who debuted in 2023 but Tetsuya Koda reckons that group has now graduated past their rookie status so this year’s tournament only focuses on wrestlers who debuted in 2024 and 2025. Personally I agree with the idea that this should only be open to wrestlers with less than two years of experience.

That leaves a small field of four competitors: Kira Summer, Chika Nanase, Uta Takami and Ren Konatsu. For that reason Koda is taking inspiration from both the World Baseball Classic and also esports by adopting a double elimination bracket. That means wrestlers need to be beaten twice in order to be knocked out of the tournament. The opening bracket will be determined by a lottery and the tournament winner will be granted a title shot of their choice out of the three TJPW championships.

Those who lose a match will move down into the Losers Bracket while the two winners qualify for the final of the Winners Bracket. By the end of the tournament, the grand final will be between the Winners Bracket Champion and the Loser’s Bracket Champion but due to the double elimination rule, the Losers Champion must beat the Winners Champion twice to win the tournament. The Winners Champion will only need to beat the Losers Champion once.

2. 12th Tokyo Princess Cup Preliminary League – Round 1: Ivy Steele defeated Toga with the Modified Pumphandle Slam (8:33).
3. Yoshiko Hasegawa defeated Uta Takami with the Muffler Hold (7:17).
4. Raku & Shino Suzuki defeated Maki Itoh & Ren Konatsu when Raku pinned Konatsu with the Doctor Yellow (9:03).
5. Suzume & Arisu Endo defeated Moka Miyamoto & Kaya Toribami when Suzume pinned Miyamoto with the Ring A Bell (11:49).
6. Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe defeated Shoko Nakajima & Chika Nanase when Tatsumi submitted Nanase with the Dragon Sleeper (12:33).
7. Mizuki, Hyper Misao, Yuki Aino & Pom Harajuku defeated Yuki Arai, Mahiro Kiryu, HIMAWARI, Haru Kazashiro when Harajuku pinned Kazashiro with the Pom de Justice (12:21).

Today was Sayuri Namba’s graduation from Tokyo Joshi Pro. But before her last day with the company was done, Hyper Misao had a request for her in the main event. Misao asked Namba to do her own superhero introduction but it was all so Misao could stick a spray can in her hand and force her to blind the other team with it. Namba was too scared to stop and ended up spraying the can towards everybody. Mizuki & Yuki Aino brought the ring bell and hammer into the ring and held them out for Namba to officially start the match while Misao was pinning Haru Kazashiro. Namba rang the bell and Kazashiro kicked out at two. The match got more serious when Mizuki and Yuki Arai fought each other while HIMAWARI was able to handle what Misao was giving her. Misao blinded Kiryu with the spray and tagged out to Pom Harajuku. She screamed in Mahiro Kiryu’s face and Kiryu told her to shut up afterward. Instead of apologizing, she instead tagged in Kazashiro. The match broke down into all eight wrestlers fighting in the ring. Mizuki’s team got the upper hand with all four of them hitting signature moves on their opponents. Harajuku then gave Kazashiro the Pom de Justice to get the win.

Harajuku had tears of joy because she got to do the post-match winner’s call today. She invited Namba into the ring but Namba said Pom crying is going to make her cry too. Harajuku said she is sad Namba is graduating but she is doing it with a goal for the future and that will motivate Harajuku to push herself towards her own goals. Namba noticed that Harajuku was wearing the costume from her debut match seven years ago. She then talked about starting out in TJPW around the same time as when Harajuku, Kiryu and Haruna Neko were trainees so to her it is like they are all the same age. The time Namba spent in TJPW is a treasure she will cherish forever and she owes it to everyone in the company for making it such a sparkling time. She was gifted with a bouquet by Aino and Raku. Suzume and Kiryu then gave her a commemorative album. Kiryu wanted to wipe the tears away from Namba’s face but used a water-soluble tissue that left bits of paper behind so Aino had to carefully clean them off Namba. Everyone then gathered in the ring around Namba so they could all announce her name together to officially end her career as TJPW’s ring announcer. Nao Kakuta also appeared for Namba’s final group photo.

It’s been over a year since Daydream last teamed up together and they haven’t skipped a beat together. Rika Tatsumi thought it didn’t feel that long since they last teamed up but Miu Watanabe didn’t agree with her. What they do agree on is their chemistry was perfect as always. Tatsumi can see how much Watanabe has evolved away from her while Watanabe knows she can match up to Tatsumi’s needs better than anyone else. Daydream also used the sasumata poles to trap Shoko Nakajima again and Chika Nanase got caught in one this time too. Nakajima expected Daydream to do something unexpected and they exceeded her expectations today. Nanase worked hard to help her but Nakajima thinks she needs Misao with her to beat Daydream. She was asked by a reporter if she will come up with a countermeasure for the sasumata poles and she thinks it would be pointless to do so. Kyoraku Kyomei might bring a hidden weapon of their own or they might do the unthinkable and fight Daydream fair and square.

Suzume scored a clean pin on her upcoming challenger Moka Miyamoto. During their tag match the International Princess Champion countered the Korokan into a Backslide that moved into a low Ring A Bell. She then used a Flying Facecrusher followed by a full power Ring A Bell to score the three count for Daisy Monkey. She was happy to win the match by herself and get revenge for Miyamoto recently pinning her earlier this month. She was even happier to hear Namba announce her as the winner one last time. Miyamoto knows she is lacking a lot of things and said she will analyze them more heading into the title match.

There is a little sheep doll that Ren Konatsu clips to her belt and it caught Raku’s attention. She thinks it matches her outfit better so she took it off Konatsu and used it to power up her lullaby, sending Konatsu to sleep. She then used the doll on Maki Itoh while Shino Suzuki held her in place but the lullaby sent both of them to sleep too. Raku then accidentally turned the doll on herself, resulting on all four wrestlers napping in the ring. Fumirin counted a quadruple pin of everyone but they all woke up and kicked out at two. Raku then threw the doll out of the ring.

Yuki Kamifuku missed the show because of a foot injury. The 3 Way Match she was booked for instead became just Yoshiko Hasegawa against Uta Takami.

Despite a few delays the 1st Round in the Tokyo Princess Cup preliminary league has been completed in time. Today featured the last two matches of the opening round. Ivy Steele comes out of this competition with the biggest upset so far by beating Toga. It took Steele blocking the Rock Bottom and hitting a Snap Enzuigiri to Toga to get out of harm’s way. Steele then used a Spinning Pumphandle Back Drop to get the win. Steele said losing to Toga before prepared her for today and made her work hard for the victory. Toga thought she would win today but realizes that was a bit arrogant of her to think that way. In the other match Wakana Uehara made Kira Summer submit to the Banana Pillow. Uehara doesn’t know who to expect in Round 2 but she wants to beat whoever it is to qualify for the Princess Cup. Summer tried to be more aggressive than usual but it didn’t work this time. She wants to continue getting more aggressive so the next time she will win.

It was announced that TeaDK, the team of Chris Brookes & Emi Sakura will return to TJPW for “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’25” on 21st July. Their opponents are to be determined.

Another BK-G Openweight Title defence is coming up for Mr. Malo but he won’t know who his challenger is until they show up. In a similar bit, MAO is also going to face a mystery wrestler to prove who is the most square shaped fighter around. I heard rumours that Dr. Cube was spotted somewhere in Japan causing fights in bars over the weekend but it just turned out to be Zack Sabre Jr. in disguise.

We’re going to see what it’s like for Ram Kaichow to fight under the control of Dark King Ueki and Munek. She’s been able to wrestle in other places pretty normally (if what she does can be called normal) ever since they trapped her soul, to the point that until she saw the match announcement she forgot she’s supposed to be on their side. Must be pretty relaxing when you forget you’re supposed to be someone’s prisoner.

Sayuri Namba To Graduate From TJPW In June

March 4, 2025

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “TJPW SPRING TOUR 2025 FINAL”, 22/06/2025
Tokyo Ryogoku KFC Hall

A press conference was held today where Sayuri Namba announced she will be graduating from her role as Tokyo Joshi Pro’s ring announcer later this summer. Her final show with the company will be the 22nd June event held in Ryogoku KFC Hall. She explained her reason for graduating is because last year she qualified for a working holiday visa and she would like to go live abroad. In fact she already has a location in mind: Vancouver, Canada. She chose that city because it is difficult to get an American visa at the moment and Vancouver is close by while also being an easy place to live in (according to people around her). She does not have any friends or know any employers who live over there so she is currently studying as a Japanese language teacher as a backup plan. Even though she is graduating from TJPW, she said she would still love to help them out whenever they go hold events overseas.

TOKYO JOSHI PRO “SAYURI NAMBA’s DREAM COME TRUE SPECIAL”, 14/06/2025
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

Before she graduates on 22nd June, there will be a special show held at Shin-Kiba 1st RING on 14th June. She doesn’t know what to do for it yet because why would a wrestling show present the ring announcer as the main character? But she is certain there will be interesting things happening that you will not see anywhere else. She is talking to people so she can come up with ideas that she thinks are interesting rather than simply being good.

No decision has been made by any side yet over how the ring announcer will be replaced. Namba is currently hooked on audition shows so she would like to do one to find her successor. She doesn’t know how many applications that would get. She would like the next announcer to be somebody who loves entertainment because having fun and being creative are the most important things about the job. She has years worth of notes saved on her phone so she can pass them on.

2. Yoshiko Hasegawa, Kaya Toribami & Wakana Uehara defeated Mahiro Kiryu, Kira Summer & Chika Nanase when Uehara submitted Nanase with the Banana Pillow (11:29).
3. Haruna Neko defeated Shino Suzuki with the Nekodebreaker (5:02).
4. Raku & Pom Harajuku defeated Miu Watanabe & Uta Takami when Raku pinned Takami with the Doctor Yellow (8:13).
5. Yuki Arai & Moka Miyamoto defeated Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro when Arai submitted Kazashiro with the Scorpion Death Lock (11:44).
6. Mizuki, Miyu Yamashita, Maki Itoh & Suzume defeated Rika Tatsumi, Shoko Nakajima, Hyper Misao & Arisu Endo when Yamashita pinned Nakajima with the Skull Kick (19:18).

In a preview for “GRAND PRINCESS ’25” the champions beat their challengers in an 8-Woman Tag Match. Hyper Misao suggested at the start of the match to have a Horse Riding Battle against the other team. Maki Itoh agreed to it because she wanted to be carried on everyone else’s shoulders like a jockey. It ended up collapsing because Rika Tatsumi reached out to choke Miyu Yamashita. During the chaos Mizuki & Suzume focused on attacking Misao so Misao defended herself with her Hero Spray. Even though Daisy Monkey were on opposite teams, they both went on like a house on fire at the same time until they got to face each other. The final minutes of the match came down to 121000000 against Kyoraku Kyomei. Itoh held Misao in a Crab Hold while Yamashita pinned Shoko Nakajima with the Skull Kick in the final minute.

After the match Yamashita said the champion team were really strong today. She assured the fans that 121000000 will remain the Princess Tag Team Champions and continue to bring the titles around the world with them. Suzume said she wanted more time to fight Arisu Endo and is now even more determined not to lose the International Princess Title to her. Mizuki is feeling frustrated but seeing everyone work hard around her pushed her to work harder too. She really wants to defend the Princess Of Princess Title against Tatsumi at Ota Ward Gymnasium. Even though the challenger team lost each member of the team is now more motivated to win their title match.

Raku brought out two cups connected to each other with string and used them to sing her opponents to sleep with lullabies. However Pom Harajuku would then scream into the cups to wake them up. They were able to win the match and afterwards Raku wanted to have a talk with Harajuku. She always has fun wrestling with her so she wants to challenge her for the SETUP All Asia Women’s Title! Harajuku refused because she doesn’t want to fight Raku. So Raku used the cups to tell Harajku she wants to fight her because she loves her. Harajuku understood her feelings and said they should have the title match at “GRAND PRINCESS ’25”. Raku told reporters backstage that she still remembers going to Thailand with Harajuku to fight for the title in a 3 Way Match. Raku lost that match by taking the fall and she hasn’t stopped thinking about it since.

Due to illness Yuki Kamifuku could not be at the show today so her 3 Way Match with Haruna Neko and Shino Suzuki was turned into a singles match. Neko won the match, making this her first proper singles win since January 2019!!!

Yuki Arai’s match for “GRAND PRINCESS ’25” was announced at the start of the show. On 16th March she is going to face Meiko Satomura! She talked about it being her last big match as a member of SKE48 before she graduates to become a full time pro wrestler. She will put everything she has done so far to aim for the win and shine even more as someone who can lead Tokyo Joshi Pro.

Uta Takami is probably going to have a much nicer experience being in the ring with Miu Watanabe this time around. They won’t be fighting each other and they’ll have Raku & Pom Harajuku as their opponents so the potential beating will be more emotional than physical.

Pearl Theater At Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

1. Special Single Match: Antonio Honda Vs Santana Jackson
2. Special Single Match: Shinya Aoki Vs Timothy Thatcher

I get the feeling that even though DDT’s Las Vegas show this year will be nothing like the usual DDT card, it’s still going to end up becoming one of the most unique shows of the entire week. The second match announced sounds like something out of “BLOODSPORT” because Shinya Aoki is going to fight Timothy Thatcher! DDT is expecting this to be a submission heavy match between two specialists of the style.

Pom-chan Army: Pom Harajuku, Mahiro Kiryu, Haruna Neko, Kaya Toribami, Toga, Kira Summer, Uta Takami and Yoshiko Hasegawa

Back in Japan all of the Tokyo Joshi Pro roster that did not go on the trip to America took part in a team challenge with Raku and Pom Harajuku as the two captains. After drafting their teams, Raku and Harajuku then wrote up an order lineup for their team to secretly determine who will face who on the card. It led to such things like Harajuku having to fight Ryo Mizunami in a singles match while Raku & Ram Kaichow got to continue their married couple tag team gimmick.

By the end of the show the final score was a 3-3 tie. Since the show was sponsored by Yamada Suisan and they were rewarding 10kg of grilled unagi to the winning team, Sayrui Namba revealed there would be a sudden death decision match between Raku and Harajuku. The match also had a One Count Fall rule so it only took half a minute for Raku to pin Harajuku to win the prize for her team. In her victory speech Raku said she is impressed with how much TJPW has grown that they can now run shows in Japan and America on the same day. She wants the message that TJPW is fun to spread out so far that even aliens will know about it.

Today is Yuki Arai’s 11th anniversary of her debut as an idol with SKE48. She said she had a great day because she worked hard for Raku and the grilled unagi.

As mentioned on the Seattle show earlier, TJPW will be in Las Vegas with The Collective for Wrestlemania Week on 18th April, 2025. They will be at the Pearl Theater in Palms Casino Resort and promise it will be TJPW’s biggest show in America yet!
