Just when I thought the card was finished, Yukinori Matsui pulls out a doozy. Konosuke Takeshita is unexpectedly coming back to DDT in May to team up with Yuki Ueno again. Matsui tends to have “Double Main Events” on his shows and this year will continue that trend.

I am making the (somewhat foolish) trip to Las Vegas this week to see Tokyo Joshi Pro amongst other wrestling shows (also Golden Knights ice hockey and a Battlebots taping of all things). I’m thinking over the fifteen years of Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi and wonder how things could have been if he never suffered that shoulder injury back in 2014. Back then DDT struck a deal with All Japan for AJPW to “rent” Hiroshi for six months. He then dislocated his shoulder right before he was supposed to start his AJPW excursion. When he recovered he got to do a handul of tours with them in 2015 and 2016 but it wasn’t anything worth talking about at the time. And then he made the switch from Americana pro wrestler into the yoga weirdo we see today. But he’s our yoga weirdo so it’s nice to see this milestone get celebrated. Whenever he hangs out with Ayumu Honda he always speaks on his behalf, often misinterpretating his promos. Honda will get a chance to shut him up on his special day.

One of Hiroshi’s influences is on the card. He has both fought and teamed with MEN’S Teioh several times back in Hiroshi’s Union Pro days.

1. Team VOLTACTION Vs The Evil Army: Danshoku Dieno, Takayuki Ueki, Yuki Ishida & Rukiya defeated Fura Kanato (To-y), Shikinagi Akira (Kazuki Hirata), Watarai Hibari (Kazuma Sumi), Seraph Dazzlegarden (Yuki Ueno) when Dieno pinned Akira after a Missed Slap from Kanato (?:??).
2. Rematch: Fura Kanato (To-y), Shikinagi Akira (Kazuki Hirata), Watarai Hibari (Kazuma Sumi), Seraph Dazzlegarden (Yuki Ueno) defeated Danshoku Dieno, Takayuki Ueki, Yuki Ishida & Rukiya when Dazzlegarden pinned Dieno after the In Raid (?:??).

A collaboration between DDT and the V-tuber group Nijisanji took place around April Fool’s Day with a special 8-Man Tag Match being taped inside Shin-Kiba 1st RING. A group of DDT wrestlers took part in the match representing VOLTACTION, an idol group belonging to Nijisanji. Each wrestler on the team represented a different member of the unit. Yuki Ueno was Seraph Dazzlegarden, Kazuki Hirata was Shikinagi Akira, Kazuma Sumi was Watarai Hibari and To-y was Fura Kanato. The match also had Haruo Murata on commentary alongside Nijisanji’s Joe Rikiichi. Oddly enough, none of the actual V-tubers made an appearance in the above video other than Rikiichi’s voice. Instead the match was first broadcast on a VOLTACTION stream where the members all watched and reacted to it. DDT and Nijisanji released the match footage by itself on Youtube the next day.

An evil gang of opponents each had individual goals to achieve at the expense of VOLTACTION. Rukiya wanted to destroy them with weapons. Yuki Ishida wanted to show his sumo power by pushing them around. Takayuki Ueki being a former cop wanted to crack down on the groups activities. Danshoku Dieno wanted to steal away VOLTACTION’s popularity by kissing them. The unexpectedly went on the defensive when Kanato (To-y) went berserk and attacked them all. Dieno ducked a slap and Kanato knocked out Akira (Hirata) by accident, leading to a very quick defeat.

A rematch was set up after a while and both teams went back down to the ring. This time the two teams fought around ringside. Rukiya wanted to attack Dazzlegarden (Ueno) with weapons but held back every time because Dazzlegarden wouldn’t flinch. Ueki & Ishida kept attacking Akira’s groin while Dieno hit the ring bell for every strike. VOLTACTION made a comeback until Ueki took Akira hostage at gunpoint. It was just a distraction for the evil team to Low Blow everyone. They worked over Hibari (Sumi) until he started to sing. The power of his singing gave his partners their second wind and they went on the attack. Dazzlegarden then showed no resistance to anything. He was pistol whipped by Ueki and just stood there. Dieno gave him the Lip Lock and he just stood there. It was only when Ishida hit him with a Low Blow that he started to buckle. Dieno then went into the Black Hole position over the top turnbuckle and Dazzlegarden was thrown straight into it. Still he stood there unaffected! Instead he launched a whirlwind attack that knocked everyone out of the ring except for Dieno. All of VOLTACTION gathered together and did the In Raid, a quadruple uppercut that knocked Dieno off his feet. Dazzlegarden pinned him while the rest of the team posed for their victory. After the match the four wrestlers broke character and introduced themselves for any Nijisanji fans who were watching wrestling for the first time.

All this time spent demanding a match with Keisuke Ishii and Yuya Susumu lost to him in under six minutes? Well, Ishii was a man on a mission today because he was determined to become the No. 1 Contender for the Spirit Of Ganbare World Title. He was Ganbare☆Pro’s last hope against the outside competition when PSYCHO eliminated Shuichiro Katsumura over on the other side of the bracket. Ishii was able to beat PSYCHO in the final and he joked about the fans and probably even Mizuki Watase were disappointed over the result. However, Watase reminded Ishii of the match they had at Korakuen Hall three years ago. He wants the two of them to surpass it in the same building on 29th April! Ishii said that date is when he is at his absolute best form. Watase thought about what he meant and remembered that is the date when Ishii won the All Asia Tag Team Titles back in 2014!

At the end of Match #6 Tyson Maeguchi came to the realization that he just beat one half of the Spirit Of Ganbare Tag Team Champions and it was thanks to the other half. The finish of the match was Yumehito Imanari hitting Shinichiro Tominaga with a Lariat and then Maeguchi finished off Tominaga with the Flying Knee Kick. Maeguchi decided he should get a title shot against Touchable at the 29th April Korakuen show. Ken Ohka offered to be his tag partner but Maeguchi turned him down to team with Takuya Wada instead. Wada agreed, having already kept his schedule open hoping to get booked on the show. He warned everyone that he didn’t come back to GanPro to be treated like a punching bag again! Michiyoshi Mishima thought over their request and pointed out both Maeguchi and Wada are former tag champions but the physcial belts did not exist when Maeguchi was on the first champion team. Mishima felt the two of them would be perfect opponents for Touchable and agreed to book the match.

3. The Outsider & Sumo Master defeated Master T & Judomaster when The Outsider pinned Judomaster with the V Slider (9:17).
4. SAGAT, Lil’ Kraken & Minoru Fujita defeated Daichi Kazato, Tsutomu Oosugi & Shuji Ishikawa when SAGAT pinned Kazato with the Gore Grind (11:31).
5. Iron Fist Tag Team Titles: Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Daiki Shimomura (c) when Nakano pinned Shimomura with the Takagari (20:08).

Aijin Tag have now become the three time Iron Fist Tag Team Champions but they already have their first challengers approaching. When Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino were celebrating their victory, SAGAT & Lil’ Kraken entered the ring to challenge them for the belts. It is SAGAT’s idea because Kraken had to remind him they already got a title shot back in January. Nakano told them they have no principles but SAGAT’s argument that if they were to just wait for another title shot it wouldn’t come. Aijin Tag accepted his reasoning and will put the titles on the line in Osaka on 12th April. Backstage Nakano told Kamino their next goal should be to break the record for most title defences because the teams that are on top of that list are freelancers like Speed Of Sounds and Astronauts. Nakano thinks a BASARA affiliated team like Aijin Tag deserves to hold the record instead!

Something unprecidented happened in regards to Match #3. Both Ryota Nakatsu and FUMA suddenly suffered from love sickness and had to pull out of the show at the last minute. BASARA were able to find some mysterious newcomers to fill in for the missing wrestlers. Judomaster was now teaming with Master T instead of FUMA and Yuki Ishida now had The Outsider as his partner. Ishida was angry over this turn of events because today was meant to be Harimao’s last appearance in BASARA as a unit. The remaining members Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura came to the show to be in their corner. Ishida stormed out of the match and left The Outsider to fight by himself. But when things were going bad for The Outsider, he called for help from somebody named Sumo Master. And wouldn’t you know it, Sumo Master suddenly appeared and came to the rescue.

Ayato Yoshida was not a popular person in the court room today. Everyone was booing him and he didn’t put up much effort towards changing people’s minds. He was on trial for allegedly shouting verbal abuse towards Minoru Fujita. The defence provided by Gouma Ryu is that kind of behaviour is sometimes acceptable between pro wrestlers while they fight in the ring. However, Banana Senga had evidence that showed the nasty comments were made inside the locker room. Fujita was called up as a witness and he said Yoshida thinks of him like his junior which is why he treats him this way. Ryu gave up trying to defend Yoshida and teamed up with Senga to fight him. Yoshida easily beat the two of them and by winning the match he was acquitted of any wrong doing.

It’s looking like Antonio Honda will be the defending Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion in the Battle Royal. His inclusion in the match has gotten Sumire Uesaka’s attention, enough for her to declare war on him just because his name is Antonio! Honda’s told Tokyo Sports that if Uesaka attacks him, his response will be to target her arm. That way if she gets injured it will just be to her arm and she’ll still be able to do her voice acting job.

Let’s start up today with a rumour concerning Aijin Tag. Earlier this week, the Super J-Cast Patreon put out a report about New Japan looking into several pro wrestlers on the indies to bring onto their roster, particularly for the Junior Heavyweight division. Two of the names among them are Takato Nakano and Masato Kamino. There isn’t much extra info to that other than out of all the names the J-Cast heard about, the two BASARA wrestlers are the curveballs on the list. It’s something to keep in mind as we approach Best Of The Super Juniors season. Kamino in particular is a funny one because he is still being billed at weighing around 90kg but he’s looked larger than that for a while now.

The winner of the Princess Of Princess Title match at “GRAND PRINCESS ’26” will go on to Las Vegas where they will defend the title against J-Rod. The returning American powerhouse has a lot going on lately. She is part of the series reboot of American Gladiators and the first episode will be released the day after this show takes place. Her Gladiator name hasn’t been revealed yet. She already fought Miu Watanabe for the Princess Title back in November but Yuki Arai could be a brand new opponent for her.

It was also announced that The IInspiration will be on this show. So it will be either them or Ober Eats who will be defending the Princess Tag Team Titles next month.

In regards to the previously announced International Princess Title match planned for the show, Tokyo Joshi Pro can no longer confirm that it will happen. They had intended to book MIRAI for the show but are unable to do so because of scheduling conflicts with Michinoku Pro. So for now there will just be two title matches happening in Las Vegas instead of three. That could change if Suzume beats MIRAI to win the IP Title but this news sure does feel like TJPW painted themselves into a corner and have to spoil the result of that match to get out of there.

The family needs to be a united force because Chris Brookes & Antonio Honda have formed an alliance with Aja Kong to wipe out the sea food loving wrestlers!

Sadly, today the venue’s management confirmed that Shinjuku FACE will be closing down on 30th September when their fixed-term lease with the building expires. To say this is a blow for the Japanese wrestling scene is an understatement given how so many wrestling companies are based in Tokyo and have relied on Shinjuku FACE to put on shows that aren’t on the level of Korakuen Hall but are still easy to access deep in the heart of that city. If Korakuen Hall is where you go to get a heat check on a wrestling company, Shinjuku FACE is where you will experience that company’s status quo. It will have a negative effect on the CyberFight promotions for sure because of how often they’ve booked shows in there over the last 20 years.

Kota Sekifuda has been brought in to take the place of the injured Yuni in Match #1.

That’s not all, NOSAWA Rongai is now threatening to invade Super Japan with Mummy wrestlers so who know what else is going to happen here. Maybe at the end of the show the fans vote to shut the whole thing down.

As part of this tournament Yuya Susumu will finally gets his long awaited singles match against Keisuke Ishii. The other side of the bracket sees Shuichiro Katsumura face PSYCHO.

A big month of singles matches lies ahead for YuuRI. She has two important opponents to fight soon, the first of which is Rin (aka Rin Kadokura) as part of Rin’s road to retirement.

He recently beat Guts Ishijima for the TTT Indie Unified Openweight Title but here they will be tag partners. Masaaki Mochizuki returns to GanPro for the first time since losing the SOG Title. Ryota Nakatsu is also coming over from BASARA to take part in Ohka’s match.

The second of YuuRI’s big matches will be against Marigold’s own Utami Hayashihita!
